A DIVINE FOOL

Chapter 6: CRASH COURSE IN CHAOS

Chapter 6: "Crash Course in Chaos"

---

A Reluctant Lesson

The dimly lit warehouse stretched into shadowed corners, its walls lined with ancient machinery and discarded tech. Kaida gestured for Yuki to follow her deeper inside, her movements swift and purposeful. Yuki hesitated, glancing back toward the entrance, half-expecting the Guardians to burst through at any moment.

"Stop dragging your feet," Kaida called over her shoulder. "The more time you waste, the closer you are to getting vaporized."

Yuki sighed and shuffled after her, Buzzzy flitting nervously beside him. "I still don't see how learning to fight is going to help. I'm not some martial arts prodigy, you know. I barely passed gym class."

Kaida smirked as she stopped in front of a rusted metal door. "Don't sell yourself short, kid. The artifact chose you for a reason. Whether you like it or not, you're a walking power source now. You just don't know how to use it."

She pushed the door open, revealing a makeshift training room on the other side. The space was filled with old equipment: punching bags, dummies, and racks of strange weapons that hummed faintly with stored energy. In the center of the room was a glowing circular platform, its surface etched with intricate runes.

Kaida stepped onto the platform, motioning for Yuki to join her. "Lesson one: survival. If you can't hold your own in a fight, you're as good as dead."

Yuki groaned but reluctantly stepped onto the platform. The runes flared to life beneath his feet, and he felt a strange warmth spread through his body. "This doesn't feel safe."

"It's not," Kaida said bluntly. "But you'll thank me later."

First Steps in Cultivation

Kaida crossed her arms and began pacing around Yuki, her gaze sharp and calculating. "Here's the deal. Cultivation isn't just about punching harder or throwing fireballs. It's about control—of your body, your mind, and the energy around you. The artifact inside you is overflowing with raw power, but if you don't learn to channel it, it'll tear you apart."

Yuki swallowed hard. "Great. No pressure or anything."

Kaida ignored his sarcasm. "Close your eyes. Focus on your breathing. I want you to feel the energy inside you—the artifact's power."

Yuki did as he was told, though he felt ridiculous standing there with his eyes closed. He tried to concentrate, tuning out the sound of Buzzzy's whirring and the faint hum of the platform beneath him. At first, all he felt was his own heartbeat, steady but quickened by nerves. Then, slowly, he became aware of something else—a faint pulsing sensation deep within his chest.

"I feel… something," he murmured.

Kaida's voice was calm but firm. "Good. Now, imagine that energy spreading through your body. Guide it with your mind. Let it flow like water."

Yuki frowned, his brow furrowing in concentration. The pulsing grew stronger, and he pictured the energy spreading through his limbs like a glowing current. Suddenly, a surge of warmth shot through him, and his body began to glow faintly with a golden light.

"Whoa!" he yelped, his eyes snapping open. "What's happening?"

Kaida grinned. "You've tapped into the artifact's energy. Not bad for a first try."

But before Yuki could celebrate, the light around him flickered and grew unstable. Sparks of energy crackled around his body, and the platform beneath him shuddered.

"Uh, Kaida? I think something's wrong!" he shouted.

Kaida cursed under her breath. "You're losing control! Focus, Yuki! Reign it in, or you'll—"

Before she could finish, the energy exploded outward in a burst of golden light, knocking Kaida off her feet and sending Yuki sprawling. The room shook, and several of the training dummies were reduced to smoldering piles of ash.

Buzzzy hovered over Yuki's head, its tone frantic. "Yuki! Are you okay?"

Yuki groaned, sitting up and rubbing his head. "I think so. What just happened?"

Kaida picked herself up, brushing off her armor. "You overloaded the artifact's energy. Rookie mistake, but at least you didn't blow yourself up."

"Comforting," Yuki muttered. "So what now?"

Kaida smirked. "Now? We try again."

A Sudden Interruption

Before they could continue, a loud crash echoed through the warehouse. The three of them froze as heavy footsteps approached, accompanied by the metallic clanking of armored boots.

Kaida drew a sleek, glowing dagger from her belt, her expression tense. "Looks like the Guardians found us. Stay behind me."

Yuki's heart sank. "Are you serious? I just started learning how to control this thing, and now I have to fight?"

"You don't have to fight," Kaida replied. "You just have to survive."

The door burst open, and three Guardians stormed in, their weapons drawn. The leader, a towering figure clad in silver armor, pointed his energy blade at Yuki. "There's nowhere left to run. Surrender the artifact, and we'll make your end painless."

Kaida stepped forward, twirling her dagger with practiced ease. "Over my dead body."

"That can be arranged," the Guardian sneered.

The room erupted into chaos as Kaida lunged at the leader, her dagger clashing against his blade in a shower of sparks. The other two Guardians charged toward Yuki, their weapons glowing with lethal intent.

"Buzzzy, help!" Yuki yelled, scrambling to his feet.

Buzzzy zipped around the Guardians, firing tiny bursts of energy at their helmets to distract them. "Yuki, you need to use the artifact! Channel its power, or we're done for!"

Yuki's hands trembled as he tried to focus. He closed his eyes, ignoring the shouts and clashes around him, and reached for the energy within him. The golden light returned, flickering unsteadily as he tried to guide it.

One of the Guardians swung his blade at Yuki, but before the weapon could connect, a burst of energy erupted from Yuki's hands, sending the Guardian flying across the room.

Yuki stared at his glowing hands in disbelief. "Did I just do that?"

"Don't stop now!" Buzzzy shouted. "Keep going!"

The second Guardian lunged at him, but Yuki managed to dodge, his movements surprisingly fluid. He raised his hands again, and another burst of energy shot forward, knocking the Guardian off balance.

Meanwhile, Kaida was locked in a fierce duel with the leader. She moved like a blur, her dagger striking with precision, but the Guardian was relentless. "Yuki!" she called out. "A little help here!"

Yuki hesitated, his fear and self-doubt threatening to overwhelm him. But as he looked at Kaida, fighting to protect him despite the odds, something inside him shifted. He took a deep breath and stepped forward, his hands glowing brighter than ever.

"Hey, tin can!" he shouted at the leader. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size?"

The Guardian turned, his expression a mix of anger and surprise. "You? A mere child dares to challenge me?"

Yuki grinned nervously. "Guess I'm full of surprises."

With a surge of determination, he unleashed a powerful blast of energy. The golden light engulfed the leader, sending him crashing into the wall with a thunderous impact. The other Guardians, seeing their leader defeated, retreated hastily, dragging their unconscious comrade with them.

A Moment of Respite

As the dust settled, Kaida approached Yuki, a look of grudging approval on her face. "Not bad, kid. You're rough around the edges, but there's potential."

Yuki slumped to the ground, his body trembling with exhaustion. "I feel like I just ran a marathon. Twice."

Buzzzy landed beside him, its tone cheerful. "You did great, Yuki! I knew you had it in you."

Kaida extended a hand to help him up. "Get used to it. That was just a warm-up. If you're going to survive in this world, you'll need to get a lot stronger—and fast."

Yuki groaned as he took her hand. "No pressure, right?"

Kaida smirked. "Welcome to the real world, kid."

And so, Yuki's journey into the chaotic world of cultivation continued, with new challenges—and new dangers—waiting just around the corner.

Cliffhanger:

As they prepared to leave the warehouse, a faint voice echoed through the air, cold and menacing.

"You can't run forever, boy. The artifact will be mine."

Yuki shivered, realizing that his troubles were far from over.
