Chapter 1: The Beginning
"Doraemon…"
The sound of crying echoed throughout the second floor. The door was suddenly pushed open, and Nobita, wiping his tears, ran into the room with his face scrunched up in distress. The room was empty, and Doraemon was nowhere to be found.
Nobita slumped down onto the floor, letting out a sigh of frustration. Recently, Doraemon had been very busy, coming and going, always acting mysteriously, and Nobita had no idea what he was up to.
"He's been in such a hurry lately… What's going on?" Nobita mumbled to himself, then sighed again. Tomorrow was the start of summer, and thinking about Jaian and Suneo, who would definitely cause trouble for him, made Nobita clench his fist in anger. "Hmm, this time I'll have to borrow a really powerful gadget from Doraemon…"
As Nobita lay down thinking, he drifted off to sleep almost immediately. Being a record-holder for sleeping, it only took a few seconds before Nobita was lost in slumber.
Half-conscious in his dreamlike state, Nobita couldn't help but remember the past, when Doraemon had first arrived. Nobita's life hadn't been particularly special; if there was anything different about him, it was his clumsiness and the fact that he always seemed to run into bad luck. He had always thought that the world wasn't kind to him, but then, on that fateful day, Doraemon appeared out of nowhere and changed everything. Two hundred years later, in the 22nd century, the world had developed at an astonishing rate, with unimaginable inventions created by humans. Doraemon, who was a 22nd-century robot caretaker, was sent back from the future by Nobita's grandson, Sewashi, to help Nobita.
Because of his clumsiness, Nobita had never amounted to anything in life, accumulating debts and dragging his future descendants into misfortune. This was why Sewashi traveled back in time to give Nobita the robot caretaker Doraemon, so that Doraemon could help change Nobita's life and the fate of the Nobi family.
Nobita happily accepted Sewashi's gift.
From that point on, Nobita's life began to change. The world seemed kinder to him, though he himself hadn't made much progress. But Doraemon was always there to help him overcome every difficulty. From the pocket on his belly, Doraemon pulled out countless miraculous gadgets, things that no matter how many times Nobita saw them, still left him in awe, saying, "I can't believe it." Indeed, the 22nd century was amazing, and according to Doraemon, these incredible gadgets were actually considered normal in that time.
Nobita became more and more reliant on Doraemon.
While Nobita was lost in these thoughts, a sudden sound interrupted him.
The drawer of Nobita's desk slid open. But this wasn't just any ordinary drawer; it was a gateway to the time machine, which Doraemon often used to travel back to the future. Sometimes, he also took Nobita and his friends on trips to the past for sightseeing and exploration. Nobita wasn't sure what was going on this time, but Doraemon crawled out of the drawer and stood still, gazing at the window, not noticing that Nobita was lying in the room.
Nobita quickly stood up and ran over to Doraemon, starting to complain about Jaian and Suneo. Only then did Doraemon turn around to look at Nobita, but his expression was blank, as if he hadn't heard a word Nobita had said. He just stood there, staring at him, and then, for some reason, Doraemon's eyes began to well up, and tears unexpectedly began to fall.
Nobita froze when he saw Doraemon crying and asked in confusion, "Doraemon, what's wrong? Why are you crying all of a sudden?"
"Oh, it's nothing." Doraemon quickly wiped his tears away and forced a smile. "Did Jaian bully you again? Here, I've got something for you…"
Doraemon reached into his belly pocket and rummaged around, pulling out a pair of boxing gloves. "These are the Champion Gloves. If you use them, you won't lose to Jaian."
Nobita eagerly accepted the Champion Gloves, put them on, and punched the air a few times, looking very pleased. But then, remembering what had just happened, he stopped smiling and, with concern, looked at Doraemon and asked, "Doraemon, are you really okay?"
Doraemon didn't answer him but just stared at him for a while before suddenly lowering his head, mumbling, "No, I'm fine. It's just… I… I'm just a little…"
At that moment, Nobita's mother's voice suddenly called out from downstairs, "Nobita, Dora-chan, come downstairs and eat!"
Upon hearing this, Doraemon quickly looked up, urged Nobita to go downstairs, "It's time for dinner. You go ahead, Nobita!" He then turned around and pulled open the drawer again. "I've got a little business to take care of." Without waiting for Nobita to ask further, Doraemon waved his hand and quickly jumped back into the time machine.
A bad feeling suddenly arose in Nobita's heart. That night, Doraemon did not return…
