A Curse (The Love Story) GL

Chapter 44: “Where Shadows Build a Home”

CHAPTER XLIV

"The Darkness That Carries Me"

Celeste's POV

After the vows — after the binding magic had sealed our fates in silence and power — Vorgath lifted me into her arms.

Her grip was possessive, yet careful. Her strength felt dangerous… but it didn't scare me.

Her long, wild black hair fell over her shoulder and brushed softly against my face. Each strand smelled of wind and ashes, like something ancient — something eternal. Her cold breath skimmed my skin, and strangely, it calmed the storm inside me.

Around us, the entire palace stood frozen in horror.

Everyone feared for me.

But none of them knew the truth.

> I had never felt more at peace.

Because this — her arms, this darkness — was the place I had dreamed of… ever since I was a child.

Even when I was too young to understand what I longed for, some part of me had always known — I belonged to this shadow.

To her.

I no longer wanted to be apart from Vorgath. I didn't care what she was — fairy, curse, monster, goddess. None of that mattered now.

Because she was mine, and I was hers.

Not because a ceremony said so.

But because something deeper — something older than even time — had written this in our souls.

> "I am yours now," I whispered in my heart.

"And you… are my forever."

Vorgath's voice broke through the stunned silence of the hall, echoing like thunder across the marble pillars:

> "I'm taking my wife far away from all of you. If any of you truly love your lives… don't follow me."

The entire room trembled at her rage. Wings stopped fluttering. Magic stopped humming. The very air felt like it had turned to glass.

My father took a single step toward her — fury and fear battling in his eyes — but my mother reached out and stopped him. Her hand gripped his tightly.

> She had seen it too.

She knew… nothing could stop Vorgath now.

Then, from the sacred circle behind us, Mother Fairy stepped forward.

Her voice was low. Measured. Heavy with prophecy.

> "Take her, Vorgath. Take Celeste wherever you wish. But remember this—"

She paused.

> "Your death is already written into the full moon… and that night is not far away."

For a moment, silence again. Then…

Vorgath laughed. Not a gentle laugh. Not even cruel.

It was wild.

> "You've grown so used to forgetting, haven't you, Your Highness?" she said, eyes burning like black fire.

"I cannot be touched by curses. No sword can pierce me. No magic can bind me. So tell me—"

She stepped forward, her voice rising.

> "How can death ever find me?"

"If anyone dares fight me, half of their power will become mine. So tell me — WHO will kill me?"

She raised her arms as if daring the world itself.

> "Who has the strength to destroy me?"

"WHO?"

No one answered.

No one moved.

Because deep down… everyone knew she wasn't bluffing.

> Vorgath was the darkness that had no dawn.

And now… I belonged to that darkness.

She turned to me again. Her eyes, for a moment, softened — just a fraction. And then she said it.

> "Celeste is mine now. My soul is bound to hers. And our bond…"

She looked over her shoulder at the silent court.

> "…can never be broken."

"She is my wife."

And then, without waiting for another word, she carried me toward the edge of the palace, where a dark chariot awaited — forged from obsidian and pulled by beasts with glowing violet eyes.

She whistled once — a sharp, haunting sound — and in an instant, Flash, Chiko, and Rira flew to her side.

Not by force.

But by fate.

They knew it too — that whatever was about to unfold… they needed to be a part of it.

> Vorgath stepped onto the chariot, still holding me close — like a flame she refused to let the wind touch.

And just like that…

> With one last glance back —

With one breath —

She vanished.

Into the mist.

Into the dark.

> With me.

And somewhere in the distance, the moon wept.

But I didn't.

Because my soul had stopped looking for light…

> When it found home in the dark.

"The Hidden Land, The Unseen Vow"

Celeste's POV

Vorgath was driving the chariot through the air — fast, silent, determined — while I sat gently nestled in her lap.

Her cheek brushed against mine, again and again, with every subtle motion of the ride, and each time it did, I felt something bloom inside me. Something warm. Soft. A kind of happiness I didn't know how to name — as if I'd longed for this closeness without ever realizing it.

I could feel her heartbeat now — clear and steady.

> It echoed in me.

And somehow… it comforted me.

As the chariot moved faster, the wind howled around us, yet I felt protected — cradled within her arms, guarded by her presence. The world outside blurred into streaks of grey and blue, and then slowly…

> The fog began to thicken.

A heavy mist stretched endlessly before us — so dense it was impossible to tell if we were flying into cloud or shadow.

At first, I thought it was nothing but wilderness.

From a distance, it looked like a forest — dark, overgrown, haunted. The kind of place no one dared to enter.

But as we moved closer… the shape of a land began to emerge.

A forgotten land.

A ruined one.

Shrouded in mist, surrounded by thick, towering black trees that clawed toward the sky like broken fingers. The atmosphere felt ancient, abandoned — yet filled with memories.

I could see the outlines of crumbling homes, shattered glass, broken roads overtaken by moss and roots.

> Once… people must have lived here.

Laughed. Loved.

Now, only silence remained.

The chariot slowed, finally coming to a halt before a large, ruined palace. Its pillars cracked, its walls aged by time and sorrow. But even in its ruin, it held a kind of majesty — fierce and raw, like Vorgath herself.

She stepped down first, and then, without a word, turned toward me.

> Carefully, like I was made of stars, she reached out her hand.

I placed mine in hers.

> Her touch was soft, steady.

Her fingers wrapped around mine with a silent promise.

And then she helped me off the chariot, letting me step down slowly, using her shoulder to balance myself.

Not once did she rush me. Not once did she let me fall.

Flash, Chiko, and Rira followed silently — saying nothing, offering no questions — as if they, too, understood this was sacred.

> They entered the ruined palace, leaving us behind.

Alone.

In the land that was now ours.

Suddenly, Vorgath's hand slid around my waist from behind — firm but gentle. She held me close, her other hand rising to meet mine. Her breath grazed my neck as her cheek pressed softly against mine again.

> "Repeat after me," she whispered.

I nodded.

Not because I had to.

But because… I wanted to.

She spoke slowly, each word laced with ancient authority and quiet power:

> "To all the trees and plants that surround this land… I make a request."

> "With your strength, cover this land in protection — cloak it in shadow, keep it hidden."

> "Let no soul from beyond these borders find us…"

> "Until we wish to be found."

> I repeated every word, voice calm, steady — bound by something more than magic.

The moment our words finished, something stirred around us.

From my fingertips, a radiant white light emerged — pure, glowing, graceful.

And from Vorgath's hands, a deep black light began to pulse — powerful, wild, ancient.

The two lights intertwined — like two streams merging into one current.

> And then…

With a sudden hush, they rose.

High into the sky, stretching across the land like a veil.

Like a promise.

The shield formed — invisible, impenetrable — a magical boundary only we could control.

> No one would see this land now.

No one would touch it.

Not until we wished it.

I looked around.

The wind had stilled. The mist curled like ribbons at our feet.

> This land… was ours.

And this moment — this quiet, sacred moment — felt like a vow spoken without words.

No royal audience.

No throne.

No decree.

Just us — in the ruins of the past — building something new with nothing but shadow and love.

And I wasn't afraid.

Because now… I belonged here.

With her.

> "This place," I whispered, "feels like home."

And Vorgath, still holding me against her heart, whispered back:

> "That's because it is."

To be continued…
