Chapter 5: My Good Home

May you be my eyes, for I cannot see, teach me brail to read by, make my life easier. Teach me those things. Find parents for me if possible. Be my friend, and teacher, and love me unconditionally.

Remember me in times of preservation, I shall succeed, a higher-functioning, Down Syndrome Child. Beautiful, sweet, happy, spirited.

Next to godliness is a child here at our home. Orphan because of a parent wanting them to have a better life. Soon the house was full to occupancy. Happy children, laughter heard from the beginning of the day till its end.

Was l the first to live under this roof? Yes, baby boy Theodore, cooed kicking, chewing on a rattle. Happy lucky sweet babe. " Oh, you pulled your sock off Sr. Mary Francis played with him. She is working on his motor skills.

Outside a tractor can be heard plowing a field. In this field planted beans to sell making money to keep the home going for children to stay.

Another skill being used is quilts being made by our women working on board. The gift shop Barn is loaded with gifts made by the staff.

A jewelry line created with our children in mind. Jewelry made from baked clay, designed by cutting around a tiny body shape. An artist on board Amish designed. Then put on a pin, chain, earrings, cuff links, and tie pins. Very stylish yet Bohemian, hippie-style. We want others to know us as free-spirited and strong.

The Gift Store " Gods Creations By Us, meaning The Home For Children. Our heritage comes from us as envisioned by team spirit. A splash of a heart shape full of all colors of earth, green, brown, white, light blue.

My Good Home was buzzing today with good news. The Bible liveth in me, my soul runneth over with the love of our holy family. Thoughtful expressions of gratefulness, made by adoration from Jesus our savior.

Opal Hershberger started working at the orphanage. Much to her astonishment took on the role of the baby room. Theodore becomes very attached to her. And she felt much joy and love for him.

The Nuns here are amazing to work for, adoringly so. All the Sisters they call themselves wear a black habit all the time. From all ages and walks of life, they came to call themselves nuns.

Opal cherished her life, still wondering about

Not being able to have children. Yet in her heart thinking God will provide for he knows me better than myself.

Today she took baby Theodore outside in a stroller. Wearing her hair up in a bun with a black scarf. A calf-length black modest dress. She looked beautiful, even Theodore thought it unable to talk yet just laughing.

"Hello, you look like you're having fun, your name is? " Opal Hershberger, I'm staff working in the baby room. And you are Evan Beiler, I'm a hired hand on the farm here. Since it has opened, I have been in the bunkhouse living with another Man Butch Beiler my braudar and Cousin, Earl Beiler. Lots of work we all enjoy very much. "

They visited a short time then both walked away. Opal pushes little Theodore over to the flower garden. Where she sat on a marble bench rocking his stroller back and forth. Naomi her Schwester, started working and she strolled up by Opal with baby Phobe. " Hallo Opal, long time no see." They both giggled about it. A beautiful baby Phoebe is reaching out to Theodore and cooed joyously. How sweet and cute. Butch Beiler road up to talk with Naomi," Hallo gut seeing you, are you working?

Naomi: " Yes, this is my Schwester Opal. She is my rock. Sweet and so kind. I'm glad you are working on the farm Butch ."

Butch: " Yes, it's great to be working on the farm with my braudars. And since you are welcome must go out to eat? She agreed, smiling.

Opal listened excitedly for her Schwester. She deserved it for sure. Sounds of fish jumping in the pond behind them surrounded by a white picket fence. Warm outside, with a gentle breeze, and the sounds of geese quacking ducks all about down by the pond. A special Farmer in charge of cleaning up their waste. Picnic spots, with white wooden tables, with attached benches.

Guests can fish, but no one else is allowed on the grounds. Those who live or work on the grounds can and are considered guests. Earl Beiler, in charge doing a great job the board said. He has asked for canoes to be purchased for the pond. In the process of a vote.

Inside the house Sisters Club together Making arrangements to decide on a favorite dough recipe for bread to be sold from the kitchen. And a favorite candy recipe, besides selling a bushel of pink lady apples. This all takes place next week when the Barn opens for sales a health department has decided. One of the ladies adopted from Catholic Charities. Donations from the church are welcome. All proceeds from Catholic Charities.

These three things are being sold nothing else or it's too much. We want to be known for it. And will have a gold seal sticker on the candy for authenticity.

Beautiful statues all around the house, candles adorned to be lit. Say a prayer to the Virgin Mary. The church on the property "Immaculate Conception ." The nuns go early every morning, then back to do chores, and take care of children. Make good choices and proceed with the rules and regulations of running the place. Nothing except good things to those who are in line to be able to.
