40K x AOT: Warden of Sorrows

Chapter 7: Those Atop The Unreachable Pillar!!

The kingdom erupted in panic as for the first time the alls were breached! The militar police wa able to put together a rather n sloppy evacuation team, but it was pointless. The Titans were already pouring into city like ans returning to their colony.

'No way! No Way! No Way!' A frightened man looked behind him as he made a sharp turn around a corner.

"haaa..." He breathed a sigh of releif and turned back around where he came face to face with a smiling titan, just sitting at the other end of the path.

"Y-YOU MONSTERRRRSSS!!! JUST KILL ME ALREADY!!" He yelled and yelled at the Titan in front of him, but unfortunately...

THOOM!!

He was flattened by te foot of another Ttan that proceeded to throw itself into a neighborhood of homes and rolled in the destruction. The smile on the other titan's face faded abit as it got up to keep moving. However just as it took a step, a sund similar to a thunderclapwas heard from above it and just behind it was an explosion that was followed by ahail of blood, bone fragments and brain matter.

It hummed and looked up just in time to see a fist that shinned like the sun itself smash into its head! It's body folded on itself as its head was pushed into its body and Cloudius torn through its body completely oblitorating its skull and spinal structure.

Cloudius looked above him and saw streaks of smoke being led by blood hungry members of the Military Police and Survey Corps!

{Purge them until you have no more blades to use! after that, let you fury strenthen you and useyour hands!!} He ordered into their minds'. He then went into the sky and set his sights on the hole that was allowing the Titans to come into the kingdom. His eyes scanned the destruction and he came up with an easy fix for their problem.

His majestic form became that of a pure blinding light of silver intensity! From the geound, huge chunks of stone was uplifted in an act of Godly intervention!

The boulders blasted themselves at the the breach in wall Maria and they became so compact unto each other that they seemed to be molding into each other like clay.

Atop a building, Levi watched with a hardened gaze. This was clearly something only a divine being could accomplish. It was the stuff of fairytale and legends.

He was simply astonished although it didn't seem that way on the outside. He sighed inwardly and a voice entered his mind at the same time.

{Handle the Titans, but leave the people for bait. There will be no more evacuation ships headed here until it's over.}

"I don't remember falling under your chain of command." Levi replied as he shot off, masterfully maneuvering around the Titans and tall structures.

"Leave the Titans alone and round the civilians into one area!! Don't let them even have one!" He ordered, swooping around a corner and taking of a woman.

He intentionally swung around the head of a Titan as the woman screamed in horror at the sight of the abomination right in her face.

"Hey , relax. I'm Humanities Strongest Soldier." Just those words from him was enough for her to cully put her life in Levi's hands even as he was being chased by 3 Titans hot on his trailer!

He raised a gun from his hip and shot a white smoke signal, before dropping the woman off at a post just before the gates of wall Rose. Then, like a vortex of destruction he carvered the Titans into piles of steaming meat before shooting off to save another.

Passing a few Military Police he told three of them to guard the area of citizens while everyone else was on round up duty!

Although he wasn't the one that gave them orders, in a situation like this, who wouldn't listen to Levi? Their captain had his fucking head popped like a grape!

However, they didn't cower, they didn't galter in their convictions and they didn't pussy out and run away into wall Rose! They stood their ground, saved their citizens and killed Titans like today was their damned last!

Looking at the irganized formation in the smoke trail of the MP and SC, Cloudius couldn't help but envision so much more for the inhabitants of this world!

From their eyes to their battlecry, these soldiers, both male and female, had the qualities of Astarties within them!

He rejoined the fight and was able to save a soldier that was just about to get grabbed by a Titan, slicing through its arm and beheading it in swift motions.

"D-Damn I thought I was dead there, haha!" The soldier remarked with an anxious expression. Cloudius silently look at the soldiers eyes. He knew those eyes. At one point they were his.

"Remember your duty! Let nothing but rage strengthen you and let your convictions guide you. It's the duty of a soldier. Stand up and start taking heads. I expect 20 tallies when this is over." He motivated the soldier and left him to vanquish another titan.

When it was all said and done, wall Maria had its breach plugged, the district itself was heavily damaged, but it wasn't completely destroyed.

However, casualties were exceedingly high. The exact number of civilian deaths and Soldier deaths weren't released until nearly a month after the breach had taken place.

In total: 4,761 Casualties. 4,531 were civilian. The other 230 were soldiers.

However, with these findings the public was informed that man of the deceased couldn't be identified. For their bodies were squished into stains of blood and clumped flesh.

How could they be identified when they couldn't even be differentiated from man and animal in that state?

There was a long period of mourning both for the fallen soldiers, the fallen citizens and those that would be left without inheritance and put into an orphanage project since their deceased couldn't be recognized.

This was the true nature of this kingdom. The higher ups lie to the people and try to make their actions seem just.

'Oh we can't verify their identity, but we'll toss you some crumbs once you're of age. Till then rot away in the orphanage.'

Or they spout things like, 'You have our condolences for your father, but the kingdom needs your strength now more than ever. I'm sure your father would be very proud of you following in his footsteps."

And indeed the sons and daughters of man followed their parents right into their grave. Their hearts were weak. Their conviction and purpose was falty, like the jamming of the Krieg's machine gun.

It is to this end, that I will begin enlisting, not for the sake of the kingdom, but for the sake of the people that will make good use unto the Emperor.

It is to this end, that I break my oaths to fulfill a duty differentfrom my brethre. From me a great thing will be created and as like all things in the cosmos it will be sanctioned to the Emperor.

I Am The Hammer!

Sitting at the desk of a dimly lit area, Cloudius closed the journal he wrote in and placed it within the dresser that was fashioned with the desk.

From what he was told, next year there was to be an enlisting event to bring in new recruits. Using that, he'd start forming a group of his own that wouldn't be opposed to a new system of government for the nation.

Of course, to do that he had to have information and oh boy did he have loads of it.

....

A few weeks later, Cloudius and Levi watched over a group training session. Of course, with two legends watching them, they gave this session everything they had and produced some relatively interesting fights.

A few soldiers pulling out some moves that made Cloudius raise his eyebrow and Levi hummed with an approving nod.

It was also a rare moment for Cloudius to be putside of his power suit. Usually, from sunrise to sunset he was relentlessly hunting Titans either by himself or with a small group of volunteer soldiers since he never did scheduled outings.

He kinda felt relaxed in a way. A nice, clear sky. A subtle breeze that fluttered across the land and soldiers sharpening their skills in front of him.

It made him remember the days when he was just fresh meat on the battlefield. In the midst of him reminiscing, he noticed a few of the soldiers were inching closer and closer towards he and Levi.

Although it could be because of their intense matches, he was able to notice even the smallest drop in vigor within the soldiers. Their intention was clear and he he glanced down at Levi and the two gazes met with a silent agreement.

If Cloudius did to his Captain what they were trying to do to him, he would have probably been sent to the Death Watch in the same instance.

The group of thirty swiftly lunged at the two spectators! Releasing a sigh and huff, Cloudius let the first soldier pass right by him with a simple sidestep, while Levi punished the sloppy attack, dodging and countering with the same motions.

Thinking that he should follow Levi's lead, he bulldozed through the surrounding soldiers although not with enough speed to wound them further than some bruises and aching.

The rest of the group look at the two as if they were monsters on an unreachable pillar standing side by side!

"Now for this mutiny run 10 laps around the training ground!" Cloudius ordered.

"Thanks for the suggestion, but make it 30! I don't wanna see a single bastard here till you've dropped dead!" His cold eyes tore into their hearts.

This was NOT the Levi that stood up for them a year ago!
