2nd Primarch

Chapter 20: Throne Angel

Psychic energy is distinct from spiritual cultivation.

Spiritual practice requires meditation, along with sharpening the mind and will.

Psionics, on the other hand, utilizes the power of subspace. By expending enough points, one can directly access these abilities through a mind network link.

However, the cost is somewhat steep, accompanied by the release of a series of blessing abilities.

The carnival for members of the Heart Network has begun.

"According to the Heartnet, these blessing abilities originate from the Emperor and the Primarch?"

"Praise the Emperor, praise the Primarch."

"It seems you only need to spend a few points to gain the power of blessing. Praise the Heart Network!"

"Unfortunately, I only have 100 points, and I need to save up to purchase spiritual training techniques."

After uploading various blessing abilities, Dukel began to deduce the next stage of spiritual practice.

When he gained insight into the true nature of the Primarch, he felt a lingering fear, as his mind was buffeted by endless extreme emotions.

Fanatical belief itself is a fusion of multiple extreme emotions.

The ability to efficiently absorb and transform extreme emotions is immensely dangerous.

The danger lies not only in the absorption and conversion but also in its efficiency.

In the Primarch's memory, Number Two had always displayed an excitable spirit, as though imbued with an unquenchable passion for battle.

He craved combat with powerful opponents and the adoration of mortals.

Initially, Dukel paid little attention to this fiery trait, attributing it to the Primarch inheriting some of the Emperor's characteristics.

But upon reflection, he realized it was likely influenced by the essence of the Primarch.

If the Primarch's spirit were akin to a clear lake,

the extreme emotions absorbed and transformed would resemble a constant stream of impurities in the form of rainwater.

Rainwater can undoubtedly enlarge the lake,

but it also steadily pollutes its waters.

Over time, prolonged pollution affects the lake's quality, and similarly, the mind succumbs to extreme emotions.

When this accumulation reaches a critical threshold, loss of control becomes inevitable.

"Could this be the genetic defect of the Second Primarch?" Dukel wondered.

The gaps in the Primarch's memory forced Dukel to rely on inference.

If the Second Legion shared such traits, it was no wonder Guilliman avoided using their gene seeds.

"Fortunately, before traveling through time, I had the foresight to create the mind network and mind cultivation technology," Dukel reflected.

"Otherwise, during my earlier speech, when I was enveloped by the people's extreme emotions, I would have lost control."

"Such a loss of control would not only lead to my eternal downfall but would also mirror the Second Primarch's fate.

Even the cleansing of the Empire's corruption would devolve into a blood-soaked hell if the Primarch lost control."

The thought left Dukel terrified.

Currently, the spiritual practice method and the mind network effectively mitigate the defects inherent in this nature.

Spiritual practice acts like a water purifier, helping to filter the impurities of belief.

The heart network, meanwhile, serves as a vast interconnected lake, allowing access to other clean water sources.

With these blessings, not only can one transform lakes into seas, but they also ensure a free-flowing circulation of water.

Over the next few months, Dukel worked on deriving the spiritual techniques for the fetal breathing stage.

At this stage, even with the computational power of tens of thousands of Imperial warriors, the calculations proved to be exceedingly difficult.

The fetal breathing stage involves breathing with both the spirit and the soul.

All cells in the body breathe autonomously, maintaining peak condition at all times.

To achieve this, one must first condense their spirit into an infant, using it to resonate with the universe and breathe with the soul.

At this point, visualizing wildfires seemed ineffective.

Instead, Dukel focused on condensing his spirit into a fetus and visualizing his subspace essence.

After realizing the nature of his subspace, Dukel's spirit merged with its essence.

Upon entering the subspace, he could instantly transform into a colossal entity with wheels within wheels.

Dukel decided to use his own essence as the fetal model.

As for spiritual breathing, could the rotation of the flame wheel count?

Dukel wasn't sure and could only rely on computational deductions.

As time passed, an indescribable atmosphere enveloped the Primarch's chamber.

The atmosphere grew more intense as Dukel continued his work.

Finally, after months of practice, the Primarch opened his eyes.

Gone was the divine brilliance; his gaze seemed ordinary, as though he were no demigod but a mere mortal.

[Fetal Breathing Level Spiritual Training Technique: Angel of the Throne]

Dukel sat quietly, assessing his condition. Gradually, a joyful expression returned to his face.

The Primarch extended his hand, summoning a translucent orange-yellow flame that burned in mid-air.

This flame appeared surreal, burning simultaneously in the physical universe and within the soul.

It was the culmination of Dukel's calculations—a fusion of psychic fire magic and tangible spiritual energy in a precise ratio.

Until now, Dukel had lacked the means to inflict real damage on Chaos Daemons.

But with the Soul Flame in hand, he now had a powerful weapon to surprise them.

Unfortunately, the "Soul Flame" could only be wielded by spiritual practitioners who had reached the subconscious realm.

Otherwise, he would have freely shared it with Heart Network members as a symbol of the Second Legion.

In addition to this achievement, Dukel experienced another breakthrough.

Until now, physical training techniques eluded him.

Although the Empire possessed advanced surgical and training methods, none provided humans with an absolute battlefield advantage.

The issue wasn't Dukel's unwillingness to calculate but his inability.

The Primarch's physiology, though outwardly human, was fundamentally different.

This made it impossible to use himself as a model for universally applicable techniques.

After entering the fetal breathing stage, however, Dukel could observe his body at a cellular level, gaining new insights.

"Something all living beings possess—adaptability," he mused.

"Synapses with electrodes, potential differences... Weak electric currents drive all life processes."

He realized that even the generation of emotions depended on bioelectric activity.

Reflecting on the theory of life's origins, he recalled how lightning striking the sea catalyzed the transition from inorganic to organic molecules—the birth of life.

"Life cannot exist without electric currents, and electric activity inevitably generates an electromagnetic field—a biomagnetic field!" Dukel exclaimed, his eyes alight with discovery.
