WHAT A TWIST!

Chapter 135: Chapter 135;OUR WALK

Chapter 135

As he stood before them, the weight of their gazes settled upon him like a physical presence. "Does anyone have a problem with this?" Hyun Min asked, his voice firm but laced with a hint of weariness.

One of them raised his hand. "Boss, are we just being cast aside like yesterday's trash?" His voice trembled with emotion, and the others nodded in silent agreement, their eyes brimming with a mix of sadness and betrayal.

Hyun Min's expression softened, and for a moment, the mask of confidence slipped, revealing a glimmer of vulnerability. "I'm not discarding anyone," he said, his voice gentler now, infused with a deep sincerity. "We're just...passing ways, that's all. It's time for you all to spread your wings, to forge your own paths, and to chase your dreams."

One of them spoke up, his voice filled with heartfelt gratitude. "Hyun Min, it's been an honor working with you.Your support and trust have meant the world to us."

Hyun Min's eyes clouded, and he looked away, his voice gruff with emotion. "Enough of the accolades. My mind is made up. When I get to the hospital, I'll ensure that I send the payments...it was nice meeting all of you."

With a quiet resolve, he turned and walked toward the white car, the sound of gravel crunching beneath his feet the only sound in the stillness. The boys all looked sad as they waved at him, their hands fluttering in the air like birds taking flight. Hyun Min smiled faintly, his eyes lingering on their faces before he slipped into the driver's seat. The leather creaked softly as he settled in. For a moment, he sat there, his eyes fixed on the group before him, before he finally started the engine and pulled away, leaving them standing alone in the fading light, their faces etched with a mix of sadness and hope. As he zoomed off, the boys' waving hands grew smaller and smaller, until they were just tiny dots in the distance.

As I was tidying up my bed, getting ready to call it a night, a knock at the door broke the silence. I paused, expecting another knock, but there was only an awkward silence. "Who is it?" I called out, curiosity getting the better of me. I made my way to the door, my heart beating slightly faster with anticipation.

When I opened the door, I was surprised to see hyun min standing there, his hand poised as if he was about to knock again. He flashed me a charming."hey..want to take a walk with me? The night air is perfect, and I'd love some company."

I looked at him, my curiosity turned into excitement. "Just a minute," I said, and I slipped back inside to quickly change into something more comfortable.

I came out a few minutes later, having swapped my pyjamas for something a bit more presentable. As I locked my door, he caught my eye and asked, "Are you upset with me?" I looked at him, and my expression softened. "Honestly, it's hard for me to stay mad at you," I said, smiling slightly. "You have this way of disarming me with just one look."

He chuckled, and I couldn't help but notice the warmth in his eyes. "Were you discharged?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me. "What are you doing out of the hospital?"

Hyun Min looked at me, his expression gentle. "I'll head back soon," he said. "I just needed to see you one last time before I go."

As I stood before the glass case showcasing an array of colorful ice cream flavors, Hyun Min leaned against the counter, his arms folded patiently as he waited for me to make my selection. I turned to him with a mischievous grin. "With so many flavors to choose from, can't I just pick three in one cup and create my own masterpiece?" I asked, my eyes scanning the options.

Hyun Min's expression was amused. "You can definitely get creative with your choices. Mix and match to your heart's content," he said, his voice low and soothing.

I turned back to the ice cream vendor and asked if I could get three flavors in one cup. However, she politely informed me that I would have to purchase three separate cups to get my desired flavors. I didn't want to get frustrated, so I decided to simplify my order. "I'll just have strawberry flavor, please," I said.

Hyun Min caught my eye and said, "Don't settle for just one flavor on my account. You deserve a treat that's as unique as you are." I smiled and reassured him, "It's okay, strawberry is my go-to comfort flavor."

"Which flavor are you getting?" I asked him, curious about his choice. "Chocolate, of course," he replied, his eyes crinkling at the corners. I raised an eyebrow. "Chocolate?? Really?"

We collected our ice cream and stepped outside into the crisp night air. As we strolled along, we spotted a bench that seemed to be calling our names. We sat down, and the cool breeze rustled our hair as we savored our ice cream.

I couldn't help but notice how much Hyun Min was enjoying his chocolate ice cream. I teased him, "Seriously, I don't think chocolate is even a good ice cream flavor." He looked at me with a playful glint in his eye and said, "You don't want to challenge me on this. I can handle chocolate ice cream. I can have ten scoops a day and still crave more."

I shook my head, laughing at his enthusiasm. Then, I offered him a taste of my strawberry ice cream, saying, "Want to try some of mine?" He declined, and we both chuckled at the idea of sharing our ice cream.

As we continued to enjoy our treats, I brought up a sensitive topic. "Hyun Min, about that woman... you should forgive her," I said gently. He looked at me quizzically, asking, "What do you mean?"

I hesitated, unsure if I should reveal what I had overheard. "I overheard your conversation. She said she's your mother," I said softly. Hyun Min's expression turned cold, and he said, "Don't bring it up. I don't believe her."

I persisted, trying to understand his perspective. "But what if it's true? What if the DNA test she showed you is real?" Hyun Min's eyes flashed with anger, and he said, "Sarah, I don't want to talk about it. I refuse to believe she's my mother. If she was, where was she all these years? She abandoned me, and now she's trying to claim me as her own? No way." His words were laced with pain and resentment, and I could see the hurt in his eyes.
