Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Crafting the Crystals
The production of numerous Amplifier Crystals allowed Marcus to strengthen all of his Warframes.
These mass-produced crystals were just basic variants—the specialized Amplifier Crystals would require more careful crafting.
It didn't take long before the metal container beside him filled with Amplifier Crystals. These basic crystals could be directly integrated into the Warframes' weapons, significantly increasing their power.
Marcus transformed into Xaku, the Void Reverberation frame. He picked up a golden Amplifier Crystal named "Concentration," surrounded it with energy in his palm, and watched as it gradually dissolved, merging into the Warframe.
Next, he drew out other Amplifier Crystals to strengthen different aspects of the frame.
He deliberately fused golden Amplifier Crystals named "Flow" and "Streamline"—one increased the Warframe's energy capacity, while the other reduced energy consumption rates.
Energy insufficiency had been a serious problem during his battles. If Excalibur had contained these two Amplifier Crystals during the fight with Apocalypse, the pyramid wouldn't have merely been damaged—it would have been cleaved in two like a mountain split by a divine blade.
After enhancing Xaku, Marcus's body flashed with energy as he transformed into his other Warframes, continuing to fuse various Amplifier Crystals with each.
The energy surrounding him shifted several times in succession until Marcus had completed the basic enhancement of all his Warframes. The metal container now held significantly fewer crystals.
"Now for the specialized Amplifier Crystals," he said.
These specialized variants came in many forms, each with unique properties.
There were Corrupted Amplifier Crystals that significantly enhanced certain attributes at the cost of others; Nightmare Amplifier Crystals that boosted two different attributes simultaneously; specialized crystals designed for specific weapons and Warframes; and Set Mods that, when used together, provided even greater enhancements.
These specialized crystals offered unique abilities—many essential for optimal performance, some potentially life-saving in critical moments.
"Hmm..." Marcus paused after glancing at the scattered crystals in the container. "I should build a storage system first."
His collection of items was growing, and the number of Amplifier Crystals would only increase. Carrying everything wasn't practical—he needed a dedicated storage solution.
Fortunately, the knowledge from the Void had provided him with spatial storage technology. After some consideration, Marcus approached the Foundry. He would create a specialized belt to hold everything.
Switching the Foundry to manual mode, Marcus began crafting the space belt.
The belt itself wasn't difficult to manufacture. The real challenge lay in the modules connected to it.
The design consisted of multiple independent smart modules, each containing its own pocket dimension for storage.
Given his current modest inventory, Marcus didn't plan to manufacture these modules in large quantities. The process was labor-intensive.
As time passed, the first smart module was completed—merely a prototype, not intended for actual use.
This first attempt provided valuable manufacturing experience. His next modules would be more refined.
Under his careful guidance, the Foundry produced four smart modules. Combined with the belt frame, they formed a spatial storage system capable of organizing various items.
Each smart module's storage capacity was limited to one cubic meter, and each existed independently—the spaces wouldn't combine into a larger area.
Fortunately, Marcus didn't need to store any large objects. The four modules were sufficient, and he had specific plans for each.
The two left modules would store Amplifier Crystals—the front for basic crystals, the rear for specialized ones.
The two right modules would hold personal items and weaponry, respectively.
With this organization, all four modules had clear purposes. To store an item, he would simply place it on the spherical protrusion at the center of the appropriate module.
To retrieve something, a light press on the module would project a holographic interface. After selecting the desired item, it would materialize before him.
This system was far more convenient than carrying everything and searching through his possessions each time.
With the belt equipped, Marcus could now focus on crafting those specialized Amplifier Crystals.
He had already decided to start with the Corrupted Amplifier Crystals. These provided the most significant enhancements for Warframes and weapons, albeit with corresponding drawbacks.
With Corrupted Amplifier Crystals, both his offensive and defensive capabilities would increase dramatically.
The first Corrupted Amplifier Crystal he chose to create was "Transient Fortitude"—a crystal that increased ability strength at the cost of ability duration.
This crystal offered excellent synergy with his combat style. Most often, his Warframe abilities would kill targets instantly, making the duration trade-off largely irrelevant.
Marcus threw himself into crafting Transient Fortitude with intense focus. The process demanded absolute precision—any error could render the crystal useless.
In this focused atmosphere, the crystal gradually took shape in his hands until it was successfully completed.
"Finally finished," Marcus sighed, wiping sweat from his forehead. "I never thought crafting such a small crystal would be so exhausting."
For the first time, he realized that high-tech manufacturing could be more draining than combat. If this crystal didn't address a critical weakness in his arsenal, he would never subject himself to this process again.
After resting briefly, he removed the completed Transient Fortitude from the Foundry. The Corrupted Crystal emitted a golden luster that immediately set it apart from ordinary Amplifiers.
"Next, I'll create Blind Rage—another strength enhancer."
Blind Rage increased ability strength at the cost of efficiency. When integrated, it would dramatically increase his Warframes' destructive potential. Though abilities would consume more energy, the enhanced combat effectiveness was worth the trade-off.
Returning to the Foundry, he began another careful crafting process. His goal was to manufacture all these specialized crystals in one concentrated effort.
As time passed, one Amplifier Crystal after another materialized under Marcus's guidance. Some enhanced Warframe attributes, others boosted weapons. He methodically created every Corrupted Amplifier Crystal on his list.
Beyond these, Marcus also crafted crystals specifically designed for particular Warframes and weapons.
There was Chromatic Blade to enhance Excalibur's Exalted Blade, Razorwing Blitz to supercharge Titania's Razorwing, and Rift Torrent to amplify Limbo's capabilities in the Rift Plane.
