Uchiha in Zenless Zone Zero

Chapter 204: Chapter 204: The Legacy Begins

Inside the room, Belle had already been placed in bed by Wise after she returned. Once the doctor left, she was alone—until Zhong Yan arrived and reignited the still air.

"Those big ones—taken care of. The rest are just small fry. Section 6 should be able to handle it from here," Zhong Yan said as he sat on the edge of the bed, giving Belle a brief update on the battle.

Then, leaning forward, he gently placed his hand on her forehead and asked softly, "You're not feeling any lingering discomfort, are you?"

At first, Belle didn't react. But a moment later, her face turned a deep shade of red as she realized what he meant.

"I... I'm fine. Just a bit tired..." she murmured, burying her head deep into the covers.

Outside, snow was falling heavily. The room, warmed by the heater, felt cozy—but for some reason, Belle found herself feeling uncomfortably hot, even breaking into a sweat beneath the blankets.

"By the way... their kids..." she suddenly brought up a topic that caught Zhong Yan off guard. "Have they been born yet?"

Zhong Yan was silent for a moment before replying, "Not yet. But Anby's due any day now—I've already picked a name. As for Ellen, she still has a few more months."

"Then... what about me?" Belle looked up at him with hopeful eyes. After taking that important first step, she was eager to keep moving forward.

Zhong Yan, understanding her meaning, didn't offer much of a response. He simply stroked her burning forehead and said, "Your body's still a bit weak. Let's give it a few days. Don't worry—you're definitely included."

"Hmph, you really say that like it's nothing. If I called you a scumbag, I doubt you'd even be able to argue," Belle pouted, and Zhong Yan, somewhat awkwardly, found he had no way to refute her.

He muttered a few more caring words before slipping out of the room like a guilty man fleeing the scene.

After he left, Belle sighed softly.

She peeked out from under the covers, gazing at her stomach, filled with thoughts she couldn't quite put into words.

Who could have imagined things would unfold like this? But now... she had no choice but to accept it.

...

Some time passed.

Finally, the day came for one of the biggest moments in Zhong Yan's life—

Anby was going into labor.

That day, the entire team of the Cunning Hares was thrown into a frenzy. Zhong Yan included. They rushed Anby to a hospital, to a private room they had reserved well in advance. They even pulled some strings to bring in the best chief physician available.

When Anby, drenched in pain and sweat, was taken into the delivery room, all Zhong Yan and the others could do was wait outside.

And wait they did—an agonizing wait. Not just for Zhong Yan; even Nicole was anxious, eagerly anticipating the baby's first cry—that symbol of new life.

Billy and Nekomiya, on the other hand, weren't quite as emotionally involved. For them, the waiting was just boring.

At last, after several long hours, the red light above the delivery room turned green.

A female doctor in a white lab coat emerged with a bright expression and announced, "Congratulations—it's a very healthy young master. The mother is doing fine as well."

Relief washed over both Zhong Yan and Nicole. Zhong Yan, unable to hold back any longer, rushed into the room and found Anby lying weakly on the hospital bed.

She was still reeling from the pain. Her body trembled slightly, hair soaked in sweat, face pale.

But when she saw Zhong Yan, she still managed to force a small smile and whispered, "Zhong Yan... I'm okay..."

The sight stirred something deep in Zhong Yan's chest. He quickly moved to her side, gripping her hand gently.

"Don't speak. Just rest," he said softly.

"Mhm..." Anby nodded and turned her gaze toward the other end of the room.

A baby's cry rang out suddenly, reaching Zhong Yan's ears. He turned to see a nurse holding a tiny newborn, no larger than two forearms.

The infant's hair was a striking silver—clearly inherited from his mother.

As for the father's features... they hadn't surfaced yet. But Zhong Yan believed they would, in time.

"Zhong Yan... that's our child," Anby said from behind him, her voice full of quiet awe. It sent a tremor through his heart—one he couldn't quite put into words.

Nicole arrived just in time to pull him out of his trance. With that, Zhong Yan stepped forward to take a better look at their newborn.

The nurse, after giving a few final instructions, left the delivery room, leaving only the full cast of the Cunning Hares—and Zhong Yan.

"Oh wow, he's so tiny! All squishy-looking," Nekomiya squealed, tail wagging wildly as she leaned over Nicole's arms to get a better look.

"So... this is the child of the Uchiha?" Billy muttered, eyes wide. He even masked the name to avoid any unwanted attention. "Even as a newborn... you can feel the pressure coming off him."

"Alright, that's enough. Give Anby a look—this came out of her, after all," Nicole said, shooing the others away and stepping up to Anby's bedside with the baby in her arms.

When Anby looked at the crying little one, her eyes filled with the kind of warmth she had once reserved only for Zhong Yan.

In that moment, the radiance of motherhood took full bloom.

"Xiao Ling..." Anby reached out her pinky finger, which the infant immediately latched onto with a tiny grip. At that moment, she felt like the happiest person in the world.

The name Xiao Ling came from the one they had chosen together: Zhong Ling.

"Zhong Yan, come here too," Anby called gently, noticing that Zhong Yan wanted to approach but hesitated.

Knowing exactly what he was feeling, she reached out to him.

Zhong Yan didn't hesitate again—he leaned in close.

And just like that, the warm image of the three of them—together in a single frame—was born.

A picture-perfect family.

And with it, the legacy of the name Uchiha had officially begun.
