Chapter 201: Chapter 201: A Massive Crisis
Ninth Street, Zhong Yan's residence.
Pei, who was in the middle of cleaning, suddenly received a call from Wise.
Somewhat confused, it picked up the phone, and Wise's anxious voice came through immediately: "Zhong Yan, Belle is trapped in Hollow Zero right now—can I ask you to help us?"
Pei blinked, stunned, then handed the phone to Zhong Yan, who was lying on the bed scrolling through his phone.
In truth, this was just one of Zhong Yan's shadow clones. His real body was still in the Kamui dimension, wrapped in intimate moments with Belle.
Since shadow clones shared consciousness, he was fully aware of what his main body was doing. After taking the phone, he calmly replied, "Alright. Send me the coordinates—I'll head over right away."
With that, he hung up. Wise sent the location shortly afterward, but instead of acting immediately, Zhong Yan stepped outside and activated Kamui to enter the Kamui space.
Just then, the two in Kamui had finished getting dressed after their intimate moment. Upon learning that Wise had called for help, Zhong Yan instantly knew what he needed to do.
"I'll take you back first. Things in Hollow Zero might be spiraling out of control—I need to step in." Zhong Yan gently brushed Belle's hair aside. Under her flushed gaze, he activated Kamui and sent her directly to Wise's side.
On the other end, seeing Zhong Yan and Belle appear, Wise immediately dropped his phone and rushed over to check on her. "Belle, are you okay?"
As he reached out, he paused mid-motion when he realized Zhong Yan was still standing nearby. Even as her older brother, some lines had to be observed—especially in front of her future partner.
No one understood the importance of personal space better than Wise.
Still... why did his sister look different, like something had profoundly changed her?
Wise didn't dwell on it—there was no time. What mattered now were the investigators still trapped inside Hollow Zero.
If they couldn't be rescued quickly, the consequences for New Eridu would be catastrophic.
Turning toward Zhong Yan, Wise said, "Zhong Yan, the situation in Hollow Zero is dire. Can I ask you to step in? Even a few less casualties would make a world of difference."
Wise knew very well—Zhong Yan was the only one they could count on now. Unless the seven Void Hunters of Fortress Citadel intervened, which was highly unlikely.
Zhong Yan nodded. "I'll handle it. The simultaneous emergence of colossal Ethereals is clearly unnatural. I'll get to the bottom of it."
With that, he cast one last glance at Belle, still looking slightly drained, and activated Kamui to vanish from the scene.
With Wise by her side, Zhong Yan no longer had to worry. As far as older brothers went, Wise truly lived up to the role.
...
At the same time, within Hollow Zero—
"Section Chief, the number of investigators we can still reach is below 30%. At this rate, even Section 6 might be completely wiped out. Reinforcements from above aren't going to arrive anytime soon."
Tsukishiro Yanagi found Hoshimi Miyabi, who was covering the retreat of remaining investigators. Along with them were Asaba Harumasa and Soukaku.
All of Section 6 was now in grave danger. As the most capable elites present, retreating ahead of others was simply not an option.
Their duty was to protect the investigators.
"Forget that for now—have we gathered any data on the colossal Ethereals that have appeared?" Hoshimi Miyabi asked, slicing through a wave of Ethereals with a single blow, then turning her gaze to Yanagi.
Even a single colossal Ethereal was enough to shake all of New Eridu. Now that they were appearing en masse, if they could be eliminated, Hollow Zero's ether activity could plummet to unprecedented lows.
It might even cause a collapse in Hollow Zero's structure.
But Miyabi also knew—it wasn't going to be easy. At the very least, they'd need reinforcements.
If multiple Void Hunter-level experts joined the fight, there might be hope of wiping them out entirely.
"Wait... wasn't Nineveh destroyed by Uchiha before? Why is it showing up again? Could it be that there's more than one Nineveh?" Harumasa suddenly raised the question nagging at everyone.
They had witnessed it firsthand—Nineveh, the monstrous flower, had been slain by the Uchiha. It should have been completely annihilated.
And yet here it was again.
Perhaps Nineveh was a type of Ethereal rather than a single entity? That seemed the only logical explanation.
Regardless, there was no time to dwell on the mystery now. Their priority was still getting the investigators out.
"Come to think of it... the Uchiha's been hunting powerful Ethereals in the hollows for a while now. With so many colossal Ethereals showing up—do you think he'll appear?" Harumasa suddenly asked.
The Uchiha—a figure whose strength rivaled and even surpassed Void Hunters. If he were to join the battle, the entire situation would immediately become far more manageable.
Unfortunately, the Uchiha was also a wanted Hollow Raider under New Eridu law. Despite their aligned goals, he wasn't on their side.
Which meant calling on him was near impossible—unless he chose to act of his own accord.
"Heh... So even Section 6 can't handle this mess, huh?"
As regret lingered in the group's silence, a deep voice suddenly echoed in their ears.
They looked up instantly—and saw a space in the air twist violently as a figure began to emerge.
"U... Uchiha?" Yanagi blurted out as soon as she recognized the face.
It took the rest of them a few moments to register it too. Their eyes filled with disbelief.
The Uchiha had actually appeared!
The group could hardly believe their luck. If he was willing to help, this crisis could truly be turned around.
In that moment, none of them cared that he was a Hollow Raider.
To them, he was a hero.
A hero who had come to save New Eridu from the flames.
