Troublemaker’s Guide to Immortality

Chapter 170: Talent in Three Paths?

Yun Jin wore the most innocent look imaginable.

Shen Yanye was completely stunned.

Join all three Holy Lands?

That was...

That was insane.

Forget about precedent—there was none.

More importantly, these three Holy Lands each taught entirely different systems. Cultivators may live long lives, but even one path could easily take a lifetime to master.

And Yun Jin wanted to take on three at the same time?

Wasn't that a complete waste of her talent?

"Yun girl, this idea of yours…" Shen Yanye let out a helpless chuckle, shaking his head. "It's a bit unrealistic."

Yun Jin blinked. "I'm just entertaining the thought for now, no rush."

"Yun girl, you're still planning to fight Ruan Jun?" Ling Fei asked, unable to hold back.

Yun Jin nodded firmly, her eyes filled with unstoppable confidence. "Of course. I said I'd take his dog head myself, and I mean to do exactly that."

In the novel, Ruan Jun was one of Ye Danxia's loyal dog-like senior brothers. He actually had a pretty decent ending—unmarried his whole life, always pining for the heroine, playing the tragic, devoted supporting male role that earned sympathy from the readers.

Well, this time…

She'd personally end his life. In a way, it was doing him a favor. He should be grateful.

She was still going to fight?

Ling Fei looked like he wanted to speak but hesitated.

Shen Yanye thought back to Yun Jin's terrifying soul force, and his gaze shifted slightly.

Golden Core versus Nascent Soul.

Normally, the outcome would be obvious.

But disciples from the Holy Lands often had the strength to cross major cultivation gaps and defeat their peers outside the sects.

With Yun Jin's monstrous talent, maybe she could do it.

Her soul force alone likely already exceeded Ruan Jun's. That would give her a major advantage in battle.

Ruan Jun might not win.

"Ling Fei, if Yun girl wants to try, then let her," Shen Yanye said with a sudden smile.

Ling Fei looked at him in astonishment.

Shen Yanye only smiled. "In cultivation, a fearless heart is sometimes more important than talent."

He had already made up his mind. If things really went wrong, he could always step in and save her, even if it cost him some effort. And if Yun Jin was saved by him personally, how could she not be moved? She'd definitely agree to become his disciple then.

For a treasure like this, he was willing to pay the price.

So if Yun Jin wanted to take the risk, let her. He would be there to catch her if she fell.

"Thank you, Senior," Yun Jin said gratefully.

Hearing Shen Yanye say that eased Ling Fei's worries as well.

With Shen Yanye's vision, he must have seen something they hadn't.

"Maybe Yun girl really could win this time."

"Ling Fei," Shen Yanye said casually, "I don't have much going on these days. How about I stay here with you for a while?"

"You're more than welcome," Ling Fei replied immediately.

Shen Yanye gave a small smile and turned to Yun Jin. "I'll be staying in Tianxing Sect for a while. If you have any questions about Beastmaster cultivation, feel free to ask me anytime. But since you're not part of the Beastmaster Sect, I still can't teach you any official sect techniques."

"This is already more than generous," Yun Jin thanked him again.

"If there's nothing else, I'll head down the mountain with Ling Fei. You…?"

"I'll chat a bit more with my good friend," Yun Jin said.

Good friend...

Shen Yanye gave her a strange look but didn't press further.

He and Ling Fei soon left. On their way out, Ling Fei took Gun Gun with him.

Yun Jin glanced at her system panel.

Compared to her own level, Shen Yanye's cultivation was sky-high. Even a casual emotional fluctuation from him provided her with a minimum of 500 points. Thanks to this Beastmaster awakening event, her Emotional Value had surged again.

Between that, the contributions from Gun Gun and Gu Jinghong, and her recent nonstop exploitation of Ye Danxia, she was only a few points away from a full bar.

She'd definitely finish collecting it today!

As Shen Yanye left, he removed the barrier that had been blocking Ye Danxia's sight.

Ye Danxia stared at Yun Jin with venom in her eyes. "Who was that man, Yun Jin? Are you colluding with the demonic path? If you keep doing things like this, I'll report you to the sect!"

"Go ahead," Yun Jin said calmly.

Shen Yanye hadn't revealed his identity, so naturally she wasn't going to say anything. But if Ye Danxia really tried to investigate who he was… she'd only be digging her own grave.

Seeing Yun Jin's unfazed expression, Ye Danxia hesitated. She lowered her voice and swallowed her words. She'd suffered too many losses at Yun Jin's hands. Unless she found absolute proof, enough to finish Yun Jin in one strike, she wasn't going to act recklessly again.

The last few times she'd made a move, it had only backfired. If she did it again without certainty, she might not survive. But Yun Jin wasn't about to let her off that easily. She kept dragging Ye Danxia into conversation, each word carefully aimed to twist the knife in her heart.

When she got bored of talking, she switched tactics and started playing "divine music" around the clock.

Finally.

At noon the next day, Yun Jin's Emotional Value bar was full.

A wave of joy surged in her heart. She immediately used a Simplification attempt, applying it fully to the formula for Butian Pill.

[Butian Pill formula has been simplified.]

The original fifty-four ingredients had now been reduced to just twenty-three.

It was still a complex recipe, but far more manageable than before.

Her next step was gathering the materials.

Without hesitation, Yun Jin walked over and casually packed up the wooden hut, then made her way down the mountain.

Ye Danxia watched her leave, nearly losing her mind.

"Yun Jin!! The message stone! Take the message stone with you!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.

But Yun Jin was already gone, vanishing from sight.

Even if she had heard, she wouldn't have responded.

Let Ye Danxia keep feeding her Emotional Value. Even a mosquito's leg was still meat, after all.

Yun Jin used her communication token to contact Yue Zhao. The two met up shortly afterward.

She handed him the new pill formula.

"Senior Brother, from now on, you can ignore all the other ingredients. I only need the twenty-three listed here."

Yue Zhao's eyes narrowed slightly. "Little Junior Sister… you refined the formula again?"

Yun Jin nodded.

His hand trembled slightly.

Improving lower-grade recipes was one thing. But this?

This was a seventh-grade pill formula, and she dared to simplify it?

This was beyond terrifying.

"Senior Brother, trust me," Yun Jin said softly.

Yue Zhao focused, then gave a slow nod. "Of course I trust you."

He pushed all other thoughts aside and carefully studied the new formula.

Among the twenty-three ingredients, he already had eighteen. Of the remaining five, one—Shenjin Fruit—was being sought by Yu Songnian. Another—Blue Smoke Grass—had been collected by Si Wanning but was no longer needed.

That meant he could call Si Wanning back now.

If Yu Songnian found the Shenjin Fruit, then only four ingredients would remain.

Yue Zhao did a quick count. "Two of those remaining herbs, I believe Hundred Herbs Pavilion may have leads on. We should be able to secure them in the next few days. That leaves the two most troublesome ones."

Yun Jin glanced at the names.

"Xuan Jade Ginseng."

"Bishui Fruit."
