Chapter 12: I DON’T FEEL ANYTHING TOWARDS YOU
"You have become more shameless now, that you no longer hide your affair from me, but instead openly display your promiscuous acts in our very own bed," a cold, dark, and masculine voice said, shocking me out of the kiss as I looked up, staring directly at the owner of the voice — only to be stunned.
Clear, dark eyes stared down at me on the bed, eyes so sharp with darkness that even the white part of the eyes was covered, and it looked so unreal, like I was staring into a void of darkness. That sent an unconscious shiver of fear down me. Eryx must have noticed because I felt his hands around my waist tighten in reassurance.
The man looked down, noticing even the subtle shift in Eryx and his gesture, as he scoffed in disgust. His full red lips tilted sideways at the act, making it look more scary than usual.
His shoulder-length dark hair, like his eyes, flowed down his shoulders, stopping there, as he stood tall — looking even taller than Eryx.
His body was thick and muscular, like he does gyming every day (did werewolves even go gyming?). But who am I kidding? This is definitely not the human world, and nothing was normal here. I doubt he got all those muscles came from gyming — if they even had gyms here. Maybe he got them from…
Wait, did he say our own bed? I thought, the words just occurring to me, making my breath hitch in my throat as my eyes widened, and I hurriedly shifted away from Eryx.
Shit, what have I done? Did I just cheat on my husband? I wondered in fear. Damn, what is the punishment for adultery here? Fuck… fuck… fuck… Anel said not to get myself killed here. I'm already arrested for treason — and now adultery too?
Wait, adultery? I kissed Eryx—no wait, Eryx kissed me, and I responded. And it felt good. Normal. Perfect. And… oh no. Affair. Was Lana having an affair with Eryx? Oh shit, she was cheating on her own husband.
Wait, Lana is married to Eryx's brother, and she cheated on her husband with Eryx — and this man right here said our own bed, referring to Lana and himself.
Wait — shit — is he my husband? I mean, Lana's husband? Who is the Alpha? Oh my, this is bad. Why does trouble keep coming at every corner?
"Did you give orders for Lana to be sent to the dungeon, brother?" Eryx spoke up, his voice dripping in darkness and anger.
"Brother?" the man scoffed, his face changing a few shades darker — if that was even possible — as he finally diverted his attention from me to look at Eryx, who stood up from the bed, standing protectively in front of me.
"You seem to have grown high and mighty, questioning my orders in the pack. Everything that goes on in this pack happens on my command…"
"How could you? How dare you? She is our damn mate, Zeus!" Eryx growled loudly, the gold hues in his iris seeming to shine brighter as he rushed toward the man. And within a twinkle of an eye, he held him by the throat, his hands wrapped firmly around it, his body vibrating with anger.
I jerked up from the bed, shouting in shock, my hands covering my mouth, my expression filled with horror as I watched them.
Eryx had him pinned by the throat against the wall, his hands wrapped around the man's neck, while the man stood still without moving — his dark eyes watching Eryx without flinching — until he diverted his eyes to me. And again, that chill shot down my body as I took a protective step backward.
His lips quirked up in a smirk, which widened… and widened… stretching to the other side slowly until his mouth opened and a loud laugh filled the room. His laughter rang loudly around the luxurious room, but his eyes showed no mirth or amusement, as they remained dark and unflinching.
"Mate?" he questioned, laughing loudly again, still staring directly at me.
He turned to Eryx, shoving his hands off his neck like he was a fly he'd shooed away, then turned to me, walking toward me.
"Do you feel it?" the man said, standing before me. And he looked like a giant towering over an ant.
God, when did I grow so short? I wondered.
"Do you feel anything, Omega?" he growled darkly, shocking me out of my thoughts as I stared, wide-eyed at him — realizing he had moved so close now. I moved back instinctively, only to find a wall behind me.
Shit!
"Uhmm… feel what?" I asked, trying to sound normal, but unfortunately, my voice came out as a squeak.
Damn, why do all these people have to make me look so weak?
"Feel what, she asks?" he said in disgust, his eyes brimming with hatred and something darker.
"Do you feel anything between us, huh? Do you feel the mate bond between us? Do you feel any pull between us?" he asked darkly.
That made my eyes widen in realization.
Eryx did say "our mate," so if I was mated to both of them, I should have the same feelings for both, right?
With Eryx, I felt everything. He felt like everything. I scented him even before I saw him. I could feel him — his emotions and everything — and they felt like mine. He felt like mine.
While with this man… I could not feel anything.
He scented normal. I didn't have any heightened feelings toward him. I could not even read his emotions.
He just felt… normal.
And that intimidated me a lot.
"No… I can't feel anything towards you," I said.
