Timebreaker: The Edge of time and magic

Chapter 2: Prologue 2

His entire left regions were irritatedly mutilated and drenched in a mixture of tear and blood.

The pain he felt then was too much for mere screams to fully express. Instead the piercing near-grave silence was a near substitute to what he considered a suitable representative for his agony.

"Go pick him up. We will regenerate him in the ship," the scum specie spouted.

Why did they need me alive?

Why couldn't I have joined my parents in eternity?

Why me?

As his throbbing glare transfixed to the ash-like sky shifting into the light, those questions mystifeid his mind and even now still haunt him till tomorrow.

The alien was about to grab what was left of him, when suddenly a dashing slash cut through the wind and warped into a stunning human form.

The speed of his approach left a raging flux of wind to ensue, causing his cloak to flaot in it as the sparks of lightning, of which he came as, resided gently over his body as crackling sounds and gallops.

He butchered through his arms and once again sawed mightly through his entire body causing his cadaver to erupt in unpredictable ways.

After the kill, his face was stained with blood and he turned lovingly towards him.

"Are you okay kid?"

"..."

He streched out arm and restored him back to normal. His fixed blank stare morphed as he slowly got up into one enriched with both shock and awe.

'Who was this guy? A mage for sure but..'

"Are you okay?", he asked again.

He nodded subtly.

"Good."

The other injured alien had made a run for it into the mother ship and all the other extra terrestrials as well with tails between their legs as soon as other mages began fending them off.

"I have got to go now. Stay safe kid."

I nodded once again unsure of why my mouth couldn't grasp a single word, not even a comprehensible thank you.

From the side walk, the mage lept towards the sky with a marvelous array of electricity and with a single massive attack destroyed the invaders along with their ships, their people...along with himself.

All 3 of his heroes died that day but at least not for nothing. After the ship exploded, there was a rain of familiar contents and items.

These included scrolls, technology, books... ability books. Ability books which unlocked various concepts and abilities.

These items redefined humans and shaped earth into the great planet it is today.

As the skies, cleared up, there was something new that wasn't there before.

Floating up above.

"Another satelite?", some puzzled.

No another planet.

About half the size of the sun floating boastfully over inconspicuous earth.

Using their technology and equipment, adventurers were sent to the enigmatic world which was later named Planet Z.

After a few minutes survey of the atmosphere and landscape, something happened.

The adventurers received a re-awakening.

Additional to their previous concept – magic, they were gifted the grasp of another concept and those that were already confirmed duds under orbs and serums, a few of them awakened into magic use.

Ever since then, humans have established bases and colonies on Planet Z, using it as an efficient ground for growing mages incase a greater invasion were to ever occur.

If not for the noble sacrifice of a prestigeous mage, humanity would have long ago been forgotten being the books of time.

And now, here he is trying to repay a favour and become the greatest mage ever just like him.

He checked the time left on his comm again.

'30 seconds.'

The digits were neither encouraging nor discouraging, cause anything could happen on the battle field.

So if he could just survive for the next thirty seconds, all that was left to do was rely on the dubious love of the unfair world and hope he's one of the lucky beings who ever awoke in the universe.

Unfortunately for him, the beast shared no interest in his dream and could sense his presence, at least just the live blood leaking profusely from his leg.

It sliddered silently towards his direction with a vast blood lust hanging within its jaws.

Any where but forward was a death wish and now the entire terrain had shattered into unstable rocky tiles, making it all the more difficult to dodge, hide or run.

The harsh and heavy movements dissolved the steady path ahead that could have granted him enough time to survive the time left.

What was left of it now was a cliff-like egde over the slope, below of which was a dense forest packed with numerous pricky trees and thorns.

The beast broke through the rock he hid behind catching him unaware and stabbed with one of its barked tentacles deep into his arm.

He fought through the pain and jolted backwards and ran forward, trying to silence the pain in his legs and arm even more aggressively.

The beast was right behind him, picking up his steps as he ran.

He exploited every possibility of cognet action within those seconds left.

It was a gamble, but what else did he have to loose in this world?

Left with no other option, he jumped, without a second thought, throwing his life blindly into the two-faced arms of sweet mother fate or luck.

Which ever one would smile on him?
