The Rose Count had left.
She needed to return to the vampire archives to search for any records regarding the "Eyeball Ring," a cursed artifact.
She also wanted to check if Yi Bai's awakened "Phantom Shadow" ability was listed among the documented vampire powers.
Only by uncovering the source of the problem could she begin to figure out how to solve it.
After all, such a promising individual—whose fate was tied to her "medicinal treatment"—was someone the Rose Count couldn't afford to ignore!
In the consultation room, Yi Bai sat slumped in a chair, lost in thought.
Lina watched him with concern, though she wasn't sure how to comfort him.
The matter at hand reached into unspeakable realms.
Even though Lina's true nature—her position as a death angel standing behind an unspoken master—was known, no one dared claim they could solve such a problem.
Every unspeakable being in this terrifying world was a force to be reckoned with.
Their power transcended the understanding of ordinary ghosts and monsters. When you're on a different level, you can never truly comprehend the horror of such beings.
The atmosphere in the room remained tense and silent for over an hour, until a knock on the door finally broke the quiet.
Yi Bai forced himself to focus and turned his attention to the door as it opened.
It was He Yi, who walked in with a beaming smile and a healthy glow, making it almost impossible to tell he was a ghost who had been dead for who knows how many years.
"Brother Yin, I've fully arranged things with our major client, Ralph. We're just waiting for your update. How's the situation on your side?"
He Yi was clearly in high spirits, smiling broadly, hinting at a successful negotiation with Ralph. Now, it was just a matter of the goods being ready for the final transaction.
Yi Bai didn't answer immediately. Instead, he asked, "When will Mr. Ralph be coming to collect the goods?"
"He'll be here soon! I'm sure you know, Ralph's a patchwork monster. There's no way he'll resist such a tempting deal!"
"Since that's the case, may I request to be Mr. Ralph's chief surgeon? As a doctor, it's a rare opportunity!" Yi Bai asked, his tone filled with subtle longing.
He Yi immediately shook his head. "Sorry, Brother Yin, but that's not possible. The arm of the Blood-Slaughter Ghost is an incredibly rare and precious material. There can't be any mistakes, so I'll handle the surgery myself."
Yi Bai's proposal was quickly shot down, and He Yi's refusal was firm.
Of course, He Yi wasn't about to let Yi Bai get closer to Ralph. After the deal was concluded, He Yi had already planned to find a way to deal with him.
"Ah, what a pity..." Yi Bai sighed, but internally he was laughing.
His question had been a calculated move to dispel He Yi's suspicions, making the deal go as smoothly as possible.
And sure enough, He Yi wasn't about to let go of the opportunity to forge closer ties with Ralph and study the Ghostly Arm of Blood-Slaughter.
"Don't worry, Brother Yin! Next time, when such an opportunity arises, I'll make sure you're the one who gets it!"
He Yi smiled apologetically and then hurriedly changed the subject. "Ralph's all set on his end. How about you?"
"Don't worry, the goods will be delivered soon. Is Director He ready with the payment? One hand for the goods, one for the money. I hope you're not thinking of pulling any tricks."
"Haha!" He Yi laughed heartily. "Brother Yin, you're overthinking it. Even if I had ten lives, I wouldn't dare try anything funny with someone like the Rose Count, not to mention her close friend! Rest assured, the ghost currency is ready. We're just waiting for the goods."
"Well, no need to wait anymore. They're already here."
Yi Bai was about to say "Let's wait," but out of the corner of his eye, he noticed something.
On the withered, pale branches outside, the crows that had once perched there had been replaced by a swarm of bats.
The bats flapped their wings, carrying a long box.
He Yi's eyes gleamed with uncontainable greed. He immediately nudged Yi Bai's arm, signaling him to let the bats bring the goods inside.
Meanwhile, He Yi, showing his sincerity, took out a copper coin.
The coin glowed faintly, and a metal chest appeared on the table.
Opening it, a rich, almost palpable aura filled the air—stacks of ghost coins, neatly arranged in the chest.
Eighty-eight thousand ghost coins—exactly, not a single coin more or less. This was nearly all of He Yi's fortune.
Yi Bai wasn't hoping to empty He Yi's entire vault. That would be unrealistic, especially for a greedy ghost. Besides, doing so would only make He Yi more suspicious.
"Let's check the goods," Yi Bai said, noticing He Yi's eagerness to pay. He gave a slight gesture, and the bats outside quickly pulled the long box into the room.
He Yi eagerly took the box, and the faint glow from the copper coin enveloped him. He carefully opened the box.
As soon as the lid cracked open, a suffocating stench of decay hit them.
Following that was a chilling aura of malevolent energy—like thousands of tiny poisonous snakes trying to burrow into the skin.
He Yi staggered back, his ghostly form almost becoming transparent under the assault of the energies.
"A zombie's arm," He Yi muttered, finally regaining his composure. "No wonder it's like this—the corpse's energy and malevolent aura couldn't be controlled, so they're going berserk."
He stared at the arm inside the box, covered in red hair, his expression one of satisfaction.
Yi Bai couldn't help but mentally mock: "As expected of two scheming women. Even though it's a fake, they still managed to set a little trap for He Yi. And he's so pleased with himself, he's come up with a convenient excuse to justify it."
Once the goods were in hand, He Yi didn't dare pull any tricks.
Dealing with someone like the Rose Count, at that level, was playing with fire.
It was a straightforward transaction—money in exchange for the goods.
With the deal done, He Yi was eager to leave and contact his major client, the patchwork monster.
But Yi Bai couldn't help but ask, "What about the reward you promised us?"
"Heh..." He Yi paused, then smiled darkly. "Don't worry, once the client buys the arm, your share will definitely be taken care of."
He quickly gave the vague response and, without another word, walked out of the room, the door shutting behind him with a click.
Lina and Yi Bai exchanged a knowing smile.
The reward? Perhaps they'd never see it.
But one thing was certain: very soon, He Yi would face the wrath of a red-clad patchwork monster.
