Chapter 106

I swallowed hard, staring at Axel’s back.

I also stole a quick glance at Bael, who was standing beside me.

‘How on earth am I supposed to do this in front of them?!’

Just imagining myself shouting, “In the name of Love and Justice!” in front of Axel and Bael made my mind reel.

It was truly an absurd card.

If the effect wasn’t so potent, I’d just toss it aside and pretend it didn’t exist.

‘But it boosts abilities by a whopping 100%.’

A 100% increase meant doubling one’s abilities. Even though it was temporary, 10 minutes was by no means a short time.

‘Even if it only lasted 10 seconds, it would still be incredible.’

If I’d had this card when we fought the Mad Dragon, the battle would’ve ended much more quickly.

If a hero-grade card had this kind of effect, I couldn’t even imagine what a legendary or mythic-grade card might do.

‘It’d probably increase abilities even more or extend the duration, right?’

The thought of abilities being tripled or quadrupled or the duration extending to 20 or 30 minutes was staggering.

‘But could this cheer work on me too?’

The cheering method mentioned pointing at the target with my right hand.

‘If I pointed at my reflection in a mirror, that might work.’

If it were possible, I could massively boost my intuition, divine power, or black magic abilities.

‘In that case… this card is even more amazing than I thought.’

Of course, the cheering method itself was the problem.

I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and focused, my eyes locking onto Axel’s somewhat tense figure ahead.

Sharing one’s magic with another person was not an easy task, even for someone as skilled as Axel, who was clearly nervous.

But…

‘If he receives this cheer…’

He could share his magic much more safely.

Both Axel and Eugene would be a lot—no, an enormous amount safer.

I recalled the image of Axel, trembling as he hugged me on the day I was revived, and Eugene, shyly smiling as he gifted me the orbit of stars.

‘Yes.’

This is for them.

‘It’s just 10 seconds, after all.’

I only needed to endure 10 seconds of embarrassment. There was no reason I couldn’t do that.

“Wait a minute, Axel.”

I stepped forward resolutely, just as Axel was about to begin channeling his magic. He stopped and turned to look at me.

“What is it?”

“Well, I… um…”

Even though I’d made up my mind, the words stuck in my throat.

“I… um… In the name of… l-l-love and justice…”

I finally managed to start speaking through gritted teeth, and Axel looked at me with a furrowed brow, clearly baffled.

“I can’t understand a word you’re saying. Bael, do you get this?”

“No idea. I’m just as lost.”

Bael also looked puzzled, tilting his head in confusion.

Unable to face their bewildered expressions, I squeezed my eyes shut.

“In the name of Love and Justice!”

I shouted the embarrassing cheer loudly and spun around in place. Instantly, I heard startled voices from both sides.

“What?”

“Huh?”

Peeking through slightly opened eyes, I saw Axel staring at me, his eyes wide with shock.

Quickly, I lifted my right hand to point at him and placed my left hand firmly on my hip.

“Receive my cheer!”

It was mortifying.

Absolutely mortifying.

I felt my face flush instantly. But once the cheering effect activated, they’d understand why I was doing this! I opened my eyes confidently.

“……?”

To my surprise, nothing happened.

“…….”

“…….”

Turning my head slowly, I saw Axel and Bael standing there, completely stunned, mouths agape.

‘Shouldn’t there at least be some sort of flash or something after doing this?’

If there had been, this would have been far less embarrassing.

Swallowing my humiliation, I urged Axel, “Try moving your magic.”

“…My magic?”

“Hurry.”

At my insistence, Axel, still looking bewildered, summoned his magic. The moment his magic flared up, his eyes widened in shock as he quickly pulled it back.

“What… what is this?”

Seeing Axel so visibly startled, I let out a sigh of relief. He must have noticed how different his magic felt—twice as strong as usual. It made sense he’d be surprised.

‘So the cheer did work.’

That meant the countdown on the effect had started. I quickly pushed Axel forward.

“You only have 10 minutes! Hurry up and do what you need to!”

“Uh, right…”

Still flustered, Axel nodded and began his work, taking a deep breath and grasping Eugene’s hand. I could feel the flow of magic begin, and I, knowing Axel’s magic better than anyone, noticed it was moving much more smoothly than usual.

It made enduring the embarrassing cheer worth it. The thought filled me with pride, and the heat in my face began to cool.

“…Pfft.”

That pride was short-lived, as Bael, who had finally regained his composure, started laughing uncontrollably.

“Grrrr…”

It seemed he was trying to hold it in, likely out of respect for Axel attempting something difficult, but suppressing laughter once it’s begun is no easy feat. With his hand covering his mouth, Bael’s shoulders shook with the effort.

He was probably replaying the scene in his head—me spinning around like some magical girl, shouting “In the name of Love and Justice!”

“C-cut it out…”

Grinding my teeth, I jabbed Bael’s side with my elbow, telling him to stop laughing.

“Y-Yes… Pfft.”

“Quit it…”

“I’m not laughing… Hmph.”

‘You’re laughing harder than anyone!’

I swallowed my tears once more.

‘Curse this stupid cheer!’

Never again, I vowed to myself.

* * *

“The magic settled in well,” Axel said as he released Eugene’s hand.

“It happened faster than I expected. It was much easier to control my magic than usual,” Axel remarked.

“Don’t forget to thank me. It’s all thanks to that embarrassing cheer I did for you,” I pouted, trying to take some credit. Bael, who had finally managed to stop laughing, let out another suppressed chuckle.

‘Go ahead, laugh all you want.’

I was getting used to the mockery at this point. With a sigh, I scurried over to Eugene’s side. His complexion looked good, and there were no signs of any problems.

‘But still…’

It felt strange sensing Axel’s magic within Eugene’s body. Normally, everyone had their own unique magical aura, but since Eugene had just received Axel’s magic, he now exuded the exact same energy as Axel. I found it fascinating and continued to gaze at Eugene, when I heard a scoffing sound next to me.

“I’m the one who went through all the trouble of sharing my magic, but it seems like you’re more worried about that kid?”

“I even cheered for you. Your abilities were doubled, so there’s no way you couldn’t control your magic the way you wanted to, right? Especially someone as skilled as you, the great White Mage.”

With confidence in his abilities, I was certain that Axel had encountered no issues.

“Well…” Axel’s tone, which had been somewhat curt, softened a bit at my words of trust.

“Of course, nothing went wrong.”

Axel then turned his attention to Bael, who was still trying to suppress his laughter.

“Check on this kid’s condition. I’m not good at that sort of thing.”

“Sure, sure,” Bael responded, finally managing to stifle his amusement as he began examining Eugene.

I was about to step aside to give Bael more space when I heard a soft groan.

“Ugh…”

Eugene let out a faint sound as he slowly opened his eyes.

“Eugene!” I rushed back to the bedside, filled with excitement. Eugene turned his head towards me as soon as he opened his eyes, and when our gazes met, his eyes widened in surprise as he quickly sat up.

He moved without any difficulty, a clear sign that he was feeling much better.

“Reshia?”

“Yes,” I replied with a smile, waving my hand. Eugene blinked like a startled rabbit as he looked around, realizing that not only I, but also Bael and Axel were by his side. His mouth slowly dropped open in amazement.

‘So cute!’

He looked so adorable with that dazed expression that I couldn’t resist ruffling his hair with a grin… until Axel suddenly stepped in between us, blocking me from Eugene. My hand, which had been patting Eugene’s head, was unceremoniously pushed aside.

‘Huh?’

I stared at Axel in surprise as he glared at Eugene with a look of intense scrutiny and suspicion, his eyes full of caution.
