The White Mist Forbidden Zone: I Have the X-ray vision

Chapter 7: The wall Anthony could pass through

As soon as Anthony passed through the white mist, he was hit by the biting cold.

Outside, it was several degrees below zero, and he was only wearing a shirt.

But there was no time to find warmer clothing—survival was the priority.

Quickly, Anthony ran through the white barrier, continuing for some distance to be safe.

"I should be safe now..."

Anthony thought, panting heavily. As he turned around, he saw the three figures burst through the barrier after him.

However, it wasn't over yet. A moment later, the swarm of monsters followed right behind.

Seeing this, Anthony's face turned pale. Could the monsters of the White Mist Zone come and go as they pleased?

This was information Anthony had no knowledge of.

If he had known, he would have prepared a vehicle in advance.

By now, Irvin and his team had caught up, and the looks on their faces as they gazed at Anthony were nothing short of astonished.

From a distance, they had thought he might be a lone expert.

But as they got closer, they realized Anthony's espers energy was no higher than level E.

How could someone like that dare to enter the White Mist Zone, let alone leisurely eat hotpot there?

The most crucial part was that he hadn't died!

Since when could level E espers casually stroll through the White Mist Zone?

From the way Anthony was running, he looked like any ordinary person. If they didn't intervene, he would surely be overwhelmed by the monsters behind him.

To think, they had inadvertently led these monsters straight to him.

Moreover, the fact that this guy entered the White Mist Zone and didn't die is definitely suspicious. Perhaps the secrets he holds could be even more valuable than the espers crystal.

Thinking of this, Irvin decisively ordered, "I'll hold them off. Iris, you take this guy and get him out of here—make sure he stays alive! George, provide cover fire from a distance."

"Understood!"

"Understood."

George and Iris nodded. One of them quickly ran towards Anthony, while the other went to find a sniper position.

Anthony was running for his life with all his might when suddenly he heard explosions behind him.

But it didn't stop there; the next moment, he felt something wrap around his waist, and then his feet lifted off the ground.

Iris had hoisted Anthony over her shoulder. Despite his weight of over a hundred pounds, she handled him as if he weighed nothing.

She then sprinted forward at a speed much faster than Anthony could manage on his own.

Are they trying to take me with them?

Anthony was a bit surprised. espers generally had an innate sense of superiority over ordinary people, and although the Normandy Kingdom and the entire Alliance had laws prohibiting espers from harming ordinary people, this superiority wasn't something that could be resolved by a mere law.

In the past, when Anthony and Angela encountered espers while searching for food, they would always avoid them.

In a danger zone like this, it wasn't unusual for someone with a bad temper to kill you without a second thought.

"Hey, hey, could we change the way you're carrying me?" Anthony almost felt like he was going to vomit from the shaking.

Although he knew she was saving him, this position was really uncomfortable.

"Stop complaining, or I'll throw you down," Iris panted, exhausted from hours of fighting in the White Mist Zone, with no energy to care about anything else.

Hearing this, Anthony immediately shut his mouth.

Indeed, espers often had bad tempers.

Explosions continued behind them, and Anthony instinctively turned to look, freezing in place.

A massive golden pillar of light shot into the sky behind him.

In that moment, Irvin had become light!

Outside the White Mist Zone, the blood-red skull marks on the trio's heads had become much fainter.

With the threat of the zone's rules gone, Irvin could finally unleash his full power.

A golden giant, made entirely of espers energy, appeared in the sky. The giant stood over a hundred meters tall, holding a golden spear that it swung to block all the pursuing monsters.

Each clash was like an earthquake, with blinding energy explosions that instantly destroyed the surrounding abandoned buildings.

At the center of the golden giant, one could just make out a figure in a black cloak, with the dark red character "(Demon) " embroidered on it!

Anthony was stunned. He had lived here for seven years and had seen many espers, but this was the first time he had witnessed such terrifying power.

Could espers really be this powerful?

Iris carried Anthony for a full half-hour, but they could still faintly hear the sounds of battle behind them.

It was clear that the monsters were hell-bent on chasing them down.

Anthony, nearly frozen stiff on her shoulder, suddenly recognized his surroundings. He knew they were getting close to the invisible wall.

At this speed, if they collided with it, Anthony feared he might not survive.

"Sister, we can't hear the battle sounds as clearly anymore. Can we stop and rest for a bit?"

However, Iris didn't respond and continued carrying Anthony forward.

"Hey, hey, can you put me down?"

"No, I need to pee—I can't hold it any longer."

"There's no road ahead."

"I'm sick; crossing that bridge will kill me."

...

Anthony kept coming up with excuses, but Iris had no intention of letting him go.

Her seemingly delicate arms held Anthony tightly in place.

As they got closer and closer to the invisible wall, Anthony was almost scared to death.

He hadn't died inside the White Mist Zone, only to end up killed by an invisible wall?

In his panic, Anthony suddenly felt his vision go black—he was experiencing another bout of blindness.

Startled, Anthony began flailing his hands around in fear.

Suddenly, his hand landed on something soft.

Iris's body stiffened as she ran, her face turning bright red. This jerk dared to grope me? My body is reserved only for the Captain's touch!

Just as she was considering whether to throw Anthony aside, she suddenly sensed a strange espers energy emanating from him.

That feeling... it must be—an espers awakening!

Iris was shocked, not because Anthony was awakening now, but because this meant he had been an ordinary person until now.

How could an ordinary person survive in the White Mist Zone, let alone sit there eating hotpot?

At that moment, a special energy was surging around Anthony, especially in his eyes, which were absorbing the surrounding espers energy.

Anthony felt as though he had lost control of his body, his soul being pulled into another dimension.

He drifted through vast, ethereal spaces, his consciousness traversing one space after another.

The sensation was incredibly surreal.

After what felt like an eternity, Anthony suddenly opened his eyes. If anyone had been watching closely, they would have seen that Anthony's eyes shone like a brilliant galaxy, mysterious and infinite.

However, that strange gleam in his eyes disappeared in an instant.

Anthony gradually regained his awareness.

Instinctively, he turned his head and noticed that everything around him had changed, becoming much clearer.

Despite being jostled on Iris's shoulder, he could still clearly see everything around him.

Before he could adjust to this newfound clarity, he suddenly saw something familiar yet strange ahead.

That wall!

The wall that had always been there but was invisible.

The wall that others could pass through, but he couldn't.

The wall that had imprisoned him for seven long years.

Before, Anthony couldn't see it.

But now, he could!

Before Anthony could react, he crashed into the invisible wall.

"Crack!"

The image of being smashed into pulp didn't materialize. When Anthony touched the invisible wall, the once-impenetrable barrier shattered at that very moment.

Anthony stood there, staring in disbelief.

The invisible wall that had imprisoned him for seven years was now crumbling like falling snowflakes...
