The System Teaches You How to Be Human

Chapter 70 - The Slum Boy’s Desperate Counterattack (15)

Tru and Si Yisi locked eyes. Tru furrowed his brows, and a fierce blaze of anger erupted in his gaze.

Dissatisfied; utterly dissatisfied. The thought that one of his subordinates had fallen at Si Yisi’s hands sent a surge of fury through his chest.

Tru was undoubtedly a petty, vengeful man. As he looked at Si Yisi, he couldn’t suppress the urge to unleash all his frustration, his anger at being punished—onto Si Yisi in one go!

So what if it was misplaced anger? He had the right to take it out on others!

If Tru knew that the damned person who had ruined his reputation was actually Si Yisi, he would be grinding his teeth in hatred, wishing he could tear Si Yisi limb from limb on the spot!

“What is this thing?” Tru withdrew his gaze, his expression arrogant and indifferent.

His tone dripped with contempt and hostility, prompting some noble students to respond with malicious amusement.

“Your Highness, that’s a lucky dog from the slums. He must have been placed here by mistake to even have the chance to study with us.”

“What’s his name… I think it’s something like Shi An?” Ruben hurriedly tried to ingratiate himself with Tru. As a second-tier noble, he never expected to have the chance to curry favor with such a dazzlingly high-ranking figure.

Eager to prove himself, Ruben trampled Si Yisi’s dignity into the mud. But before he could even retract his ingratiating smile, a sudden gust of force struck him!

Despite his physique, he couldn’t dodge in time! With a painful groan, Ruben felt a foot slam onto his abdomen, forcing him into a humiliating sprawl on the ground!

Both the noble students and the surrounding commoner students gasped in shock. None of them had expected Si Yisi to strike here, let alone with such thunderous speed—so sudden that no one could react in time!

“My name is Si’an.” The corners of Si Yisi’s lips curled into a cold arc. He swept his gaze over the noble students, who had instinctively taken a step back, their faces unable to hide their shock and fury. Yet his foot remained firmly planted on Ruben, unmoving!

Tru was also taken aback. His nails dug into his palm, his expression twisting in rage!

Si’an had just humiliated Ruben right in front of him; this was a direct provocation!

“What do you think you’re doing?! Cough, cough!” Ruben cried out in alarm and desperation. “His Highness the Third Prince is right here! How dare you?!”

It wasn’t that Ruben didn’t want to struggle free, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t shake Si Yisi’s foot in the slightest! It was as heavy as a thousand-pound boulder, crushing him, making it impossible to breathe!

Huff, huff–

Ruben could even hear his own increasingly labored breathing. He struggled in vain, only to realize his strength was depleting faster and faster, while the air he could inhale was dwindling; he was suffocating!

No!

His face turned a ghastly shade of purple. He stared up at Si Yisi in terror, feeling as if the force pressing on his abdomen was about to shatter his bones and crush his internal organs! He couldn’t take it anymore!

Tears and snot streamed down Ruben’s face as he trembled. “Si’an… It’s Si’an! Let me go, let me go!”

He could tell, Si’an really dared to kill him. He truly had the guts to murder him in front of all these noble students!

He didn’t want to die—!

Si Yisi smiled faintly at him before finally lifting his foot. In that instant, Ruben felt an overwhelming sense of relief, as if he had narrowly escaped death!

There was no longer any thought of revenge against Si’an in his mind, only one thought echoed; I survived!

Just as Si Yisi released him, Tru finally processed the disastrous scene that had just played out before him.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” Tru roared, his fury exploding like a lion’s, his harsh reprimand slamming toward Si Yisi!

Si Yisi lowered his head slightly, as if in submission; or perhaps as a different kind of provocation. “Your Highness the Third Prince… is this how noble students behave? As nobles, do they have the right to insult and trample on others at will? Or is this simply how noble students treat commoner students? But doesn’t Anderson Academy’s school regulations state that all students should be treated equally?”

Si Yisi’s voice was just as soft and weak as his mother Lisa’s. It lacked force, yet carried enough lethal precision to leave the noble students caught in an awkward dilemma.

Not to mention, he deliberately raised his voice for the last few sentences, ensuring that passing commoner students heard him loud and clear!

Before long, several commoner students had stopped to watch. Si Yisi’s frail appearance made him seem like a lamb thrown into a pack of wolves, and his words stirred the empathy and sympathy of the onlookers.

In an instant, many commoner students were glaring at the noble students in anger!

It was no secret that noble students frequently bullied commoner students; every student at Anderson Academy had heard of such incidents! Si Yisi’s words were like a stone cast into a still lake, sending ripples of long-repressed resentment and fury surging among the passing commoner students!

“You f***ing—” Tru, enraged, was about to lash out when Lin Xian, who had been silently standing by, stopped him.

Lin Xian let out a thoughtful hum, then spoke with a smile, “Ruben was in the wrong here. I’ll make sure he apologizes to you. Your Highness, don’t you agree? As students of Anderson Military Academy, we should all follow the rules and conduct ourselves accordingly.”

Though Lin Xian’s words seemed like a rebuke directed at Ruben, they also served as a double-edged reminder for Tru to restrain himself.

After all, Tru had been “exiled” here. If he continued acting recklessly, there might never be a day when he regained favor!

Tru’s forehead twitched with protruding veins, barely suppressing his fury. Lin Xian had hit him right where it hurt, making his expression darken even further. He gritted his teeth and reluctantly muttered,

“Fine… Ruben should… apologize!”

“You heard him, Ruben—apologize again,” Lin Xian said lazily, watching as a few students helped Ruben to his feet.

Ruben grimaced in pain, trembling as he moved toward Si Yisi. “Si… Si’an, I was wrong.”

The moment the words left his mouth, his fear overwhelmed him, and his eyes rolled back as he collapsed! His sudden fall caught several noble students beside him off guard, causing a chain reaction that sent them stumbling in disarray.

They flailed about, trying to steady themselves, but in the chaos, all traces of their so-called noble composure were utterly shattered!

Tru shot Si Yisi a deep, penetrating look and enunciated every word, “Student Si’an, I will remember you.” His expression, however, made it painfully obvious that he wished he could tear Si Yisi apart on the spot.

Yet Si Yisi acted as if he didn’t catch the underlying threat at all. He responded with a serene smile, “I am honored by Your Highness’s attention. My deepest gratitude.”

Tru’s departing figure stiffened, his face dark as a stormy sea; Honored? Grateful? What utter bullsh*t!

Just you wait… Do you really think that having an S-rank mental power meant he could do whatever he pleased? In the end, he was nothing but a filthy slum rat!

Si’an watched Tru leave and shook his head lightly.

Tru had absolutely no patience; he was even worse at keeping his composure than some second- and third-tier noble brats. He had clearly come today to assert dominance, thinking that his noble status would be enough to crush Si’an underfoot.

But not everything in life would go as he wished!

After this failed display of authority, the noble students’ attitudes toward Si Yisi became noticeably strange. Only Lin Xian, the “oddball,” still actively sought him out for conversation.

Every time the noble students saw Si Yisi, their gazes swept over him with a mix of disdain and wary vigilance. Then, as if he were nothing more than thin air, they collectively ignored him.

This was social ostracization.

They had excluded Si Yisi from their circles and completely isolated him.

This was a widespread, “subtle” form of campus bullying; one that could easily drive weaker-minded students to a mental breakdown.

But Si Yisi was utterly unfazed! He attended classes, completed his training, and went home as usual, moving through his routine with robotic precision. Yet, in every subject, his grades were marked with a bold, capital A!

Lin Xian also seemed to have forgotten Si Yisi’s existence. It wasn’t until over 10 days later that he finally knocked on Si Yisi’s door, seeking another meeting.

Si’an was working on a highly intricate mecha blueprint. After letting Lin Xian into the room, he completely ignored him and continued his calculations! His pen flew across the paper, and complex, dense equations passed through his mind with ease, rapidly forming precise solutions.

Lin Xian, seated beside him, had a clear view of everything Si Yisi was doing. In that moment, a realization struck him…

Si’an’s calculations are all related to mecha!

Or more precisely… mecha modifications!

Lin Xian’s eyes darted across the overwhelming cascade of numbers and formulas. It took him a while to suppress his inner shock before he finally spoke,

“The academy’s midterm assessments are coming up. You’d better start preparing.”

Noble students received an elite-style education, which was different from that of commoner students. They studied a broader and more diverse curriculum without specialized courses.

Because of that, many of them had a wide range of knowledge but lacked mastery in any particular field. In certain areas, they were completely outmatched by commoner students who specialized in those subjects.

However, due to Anderson Academy’s traditions, both noble and commoner students had to face the same midterm assessments. The academy followed a survival-of-the-fittest policy; students who ranked too low would be directly expelled from Anderson Military Academy!

“So?” Si Yisi asked in response, still focused on calculating how to improve Ah Tu’s components, his mecha.

The cleaning robot, Ah Tu, rolled past Si Yisi and Lin Xian with a soft whir, pretending to clean as usual. Who would have thought that this ugly little robot was actually a highly intelligent mecha capable of beating most people in combat?

“I just came to remind you, both the commoner and noble students are displeased with you,” Lin Xian shrugged.

“Especially Tru. He looks at you like you’re his sworn enemy.”

“The people who ambushed me in the slums back then were his subordinates,” Si Yisi stated without even blinking.

“Hm? You knew?” Lin Xian asked. Then he added, “Do you know why he’s so fixated on targeting you?”

“He thinks I’m a threat to his position?”

Lin Xian let out a sound of understanding. “Paranoid bastard.”

He figured he had pieced things together; Tru must have learned about Si’an’s talent from somewhere, which was why he was going to such lengths to suppress him. But seriously, lowering himself to deal with someone from the slums? How disgraceful.

“In any case, be careful in this midterm assessment,” Lin Xian said, winking at Si Yisi.

His father had risen to the rank of Marshal from an ordinary background. How could he, of all people, view Si‘an as a major threat like the other noble students did?

“I understand,” Si Yisi replied at a steady pace, showing no signs of irritation despite being targeted.

He casually reached out and patted Ah Tu on the head, only for the robot to nudge his hand in defiance.

A desolate planet.

From the perspective of an approaching spaceship, the planet appeared grayish-black. But upon closer inspection, the colors seemed to be shifting and flowing!

It was actually a dense mass of insect eggs, piled up one after another. At that moment, these semi-transparent eggs had reached a critical stage; each one was pulsating as something inside repeatedly struck against its shell. Thick, viscous fluid swirled within them, faintly revealing the insectoid creatures encased inside.

Several fully grown Zergs also roamed the planet. Their bodies were entirely black, their appearances grotesque, and their exoskeletons as sharp as weapons.

“These larvae are undernourished… We need to plunder more energy.” One of the Zergs, resembling a mutated mantis, spoke.

“Alina, do you have any ideas?”

The female insectoid, Alina, flicked her tail as she meticulously painted her claws with red nail polish.

Then, she parted her “red lips,” revealing a mouthful of razor-sharp teeth. “I do have an idea—I think it’s time to activate the sleeper agents we planted in the Kaz Empire.”

“We’ll follow your lead.”

“This is a critical moment for our survival!”

“A critical moment for their survival—!”

As the rallying cries of her kin echoed around her, a strange glint flickered in Alina’s ping-pong-ball-sized eyes.
