The School’s Princess Is Secretly The Streamer I Like

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Connection Unstable

The next morning, the sun shone way too brightly for someone who got hit with a wooden sword and was emotionally traumatized by a vice president-turned-yandere.

I sat at my desk in the homeroom, alive, somehow. A little sore, bandaged and with mild PTSD every time I heard footsteps behind me. But alive.

Minori leaned over with his usual lazy grin.

"Yo. You good? I saw you limping like you fought a boss battle without armor."

"I did. It was an S-rank side quest I never accepted," I muttered, placing my head on the desk.

Yui turned around from her seat. "You look like you got isekai'd and respawned mid-series."

"Honestly? I wouldn't be surprised if this was a fever dream."

The class buzzed like normal. I'd heard whispers. Apparently someone saw her yelling at Kanzaki-senpai yesterday and Kanzaki-senpai vanished after school. Probably into whatever void villains go to after getting their "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" speech.

As I scrolled through my phone, a familiar notification popped up:

Shizuka-chan is scheduled for a Live Stream!

Title: "I'm not dead! Surprise collab stream with Charlotte-chan"

I grinned. Somehow, things were starting to feel normal again.

Just then, a voice called out from behind.

"Mind if I talk with you?" a voice behind me

I turned around. Kanzaki-senpai. no wooden sword in sight. She held a convenience store drink.

"…You're not going to chain me again, right?" I asked cautiously.

"Don't speak too highly of yourself," she said bluntly. "If I had my way, you would still be chained."

I couldn't tell if she was joking or serious but i had a feeling she wasn't joking

''Anyway what can i do for you senpai?'' i asked

''I'm here to.. I'm here to…a-apolgise'' She looked as if she was being held hostage saying that

''N-Nagano-kun i am… ver-ry sorry… for yesterday'' she finally said

I guess Natsuki-san forced her to do this when talking with her yesterday

''It's alright Kanzaki-senpai i forgive you'' i replied

''Good. you better''

I knew she wasn't sorry one bit but I couldn't be asked to deal with her anymore. She was about to leave but she saw my phone and the notification of Shizuka-chan's Scheduled Live stream.

''Wait Nagano-kun do you also watch Shizuka-chan too?'' Kanzaki-senpai asked

''Huh Kanzaki-senpai you know who she is'' i said excitedly standing up from my desk

Kanzaki-senpai stared, a little surprised by my enthusiasm.

"Of course I know her," she responded, seeming almost insulted. Since her second stream I have been observing. Her review of the "Yandere Maid Café Incident" was Peak.

''Hold on—what? You watched that too?'' I said

She smirked, strangely proud, and nodded. I even made a donation. Twice.

"Twice? I let out a gasp. "You are a real one."

The mood changed quickly for a little time we were only two fans of a one of the best Vtuber streamer

"So, which of her character designs is your favourite?" I asked.

Without hesitation, she replied. "The techwear jacket and the shrine maiden outfit, of course."

I let out a gasp. "You actually have good taste!"

She crossed her arms. "Unlike you, who most likely prefers the one with the bunny suit."

"Well yes but actually no. My favourite of all time is her taiko drummer outfit. I will break out of any chains to defend myself from that statement." I say with a joyous grin.

Kanzaki-senpai rolled her eyes and then stopped, looking at me as if she had suddenly realised that I was the same person she had attempted to beat up the day before.

"For someone who was chained yesterday ago, you're surprisingly happy."

"And you're weirdly fun to talk to for someone who did the chaining" I replied.

Her face gradually forms into a smile that turns into laughter

Did I just make the crazy Yandere Kanzaki-senpai laugh just now? I must be tripping. I was shocked as if the 'main character gets confessed to before episode 12' level shock.

''Senpai, did you just laugh?'' i asked

''You're imagining it'' she replied

She began to leave the classroom but when she was halfway in the door she said "Oh, and Nagano-kun."

Yeah?

"Next time, if someone tries to hit you with a bokken again, at least dodge."

She leaves abruptly.

I sat back down in my chair and Minori turned around from his seat and looked at me with a searching face "So uh. What's going on with you and Kanzaki-senpai? You two timing the school princess? I always had a hunch that you were into older women but not like that"

"And it's not like that you friggin idiot" I correct him with a slap to the back of his head.

"She was the one who caused this bandage to be put on my head" I pointed to my skull.

"Must've been rough- uhhh I mean what do you mean by that?" Minori inquires as he rubs the back of his hurt head.

I told him everything I knew but in very simplified sentences because it hurt to think about big words to describe the horrific event.

Minori shares his look of horror with a hand over his opened mouth.

"Dayuuum. So Kanzaki-senpai is a sadist?" Minori replies

"Oi! That's not the point. Get a grip dummy" I smack him again.

''If you keep slapping me i'm going to end up getting bandaged too'' he jokes

''Don't worry Minorin ill aid you anytime'' Tanaka-san says as she walks towards us

''Aww thanks Yui-chan i love you'' Minori replies hugging her dramatically

I just stand there, blinking like an NPC. Seriously... What genre is my life again?

Things finally went back to normal… Well, kind of, I started to eat lunch with Natsuki-senpai again except for the part of how everyone looked at me like I stole their limited-edition anime figurine and broke it in front of them.

"Why does he get to eat lunch with her?"

''Why are they so close?''

''I wish i was him''

I forgot how i was still everyone's enemy. We went to our usual spot to have our lunch

"Are you watching the stream tonight? Nagano-kun" she asks, eyes flicking up from her rice.

"Of course," I reply, "you're doing a collab with that other Vtuber Charlotte-chan , right?"

''Yes she's another great Vtuber who i consider a rival so doing a collab stream surely is going to make many viewers happy'' she says

That's when I remember. "Oh—speaking of Shizuka-chan… Did you know Kanzaki-senpai watches her streams too?" i tell her

Natsuki blinks. "Wait, really?"

She starts to laugh—an actual, surprised laugh and covers her mouth. "Arisu watches Shizuka-chan?"

''Huh i never thought Arisu was that type of person to watch this type of content'' she says

''Yeah it's a good thing she doesn't know who you really are otherwise her yandere level would increase so much god know what she would do'' i joked

''Yeah that would be bad'' she giggled

Then the bell rings. Lunch is over.

As she stands and brushes crumbs from her skirt, Natsuki says, "I guess I'll see you after school."

"Yeah i'll see you later Natsuki-san "

She smiles. "Nagano-kun, don't let the glares upset you."

Easy for her to say s he isn't hated by anyone for eating with me. I watch her head off before slowly making my way back inside the building, preparing myself for more side-eyes and whispered rumours. But when I enter that classroom something feels different

I can hear girls whispering, giggling behind their hands. A few are standing near the front, obviously trying to look casual.

"Did you hear? He's back."

"He transferred back this semester!"

"No way. THE Hayato-senpai?!"

I pause mid step

I then catch a glimpse of him.

Tall. Ideal posture. shiny black hair that sparkles in the bright light and eyes—sharp, untouchable and cool.

He smiles calmly, as if he's prepared it, and turns slightly. ''How is it going everyone?''

Wait a just a damn moment.

I recognise that face.

That's the last guy I expect to show up but then again. That guy is whom people refer to as "him"

Kurosawa Hayato-

No.

The "school's prince'' as he is known. The man that all the highschool girls from 5 prefectures anywhere fawn over. Also the person that everyone thinks is the perfect match for Natsuk-san to date. I ignore him and head back into the classroom and sit back into my seat.

''Looks like his Royal Highness is back'' Minori says to me

''Yeah but this could be a good thing this means everyone will be focused on him than on me''

Minori sighs ''Quite the opposite. I don't think things will get easier for you now''

I blink. "Huh? What's that supposed to mean?"

But he just shakes his head and pinches the nose of his bridge like a veteran who's seen too much and says nothing more.

The next few days everything was normal but a surveilling presence lurked and stalked me at school. You know that sensation when you're walking down the hallway, minding your business, and suddenly your eyes detect a movement that cannot be identified. Yes, that. I thought at first I was imagining it. Maybe I was simply too on edge. After the trauma from a yandere kidnapping. It makes sense. As I was heading to walk in the hallway or taking my shoes from the cubby. And each time I looked back...

He was there. Him. Walking along the hallway. Like he was a fashion icon, he was leaning against the wall. surrounded by sparkles all the time, or perhaps that was just the crowd of females who were rushing to him like moths to a very attractive flame.

However, his eyes—

They weren't on them. They were on me. For a second. He would then turn away. But just as soon as I feel I can drop my guard. They shoot back at me like a sniper shot.

Then that day arrived.

I was enjoying a warm can of corn soup (don't judge) on my way back from the vending machines when the atmosphere suddenly changed. The hallway became dead silent. That lurking presence had begun to approach me becoming more apparent.

Click, clack, click.

The floor echoed with the sound of pricey shoes.

I turned to see a towering figure shrouded in a commanding aura looking down at me.

"You've got to be Katsu Nagano." He spoke calmly and smoothly. Many people began to gather at that very moment. The speed of the students slowed. Some simply stop. Some of the females gasped as if they had just entered a scene from a soap opera. They were pulling out phones.Whispers flew like a breeze .

"Hold on, is that Hayato-senpai?"

"Who is this guy he is talking with?"

"Isn't that the weirdo who eats and hangs out with the school princess?"

My stomach dropped.

With his arms folded, Hayato-senpai said, "I've been meaning to talk to you." "You are the one who spends most of your time with Natsuki."

I blinked. "Yeah" "That is me".

His head tilted slightly. " And your relationship with her exactly?"

"We are just friends."

That was the reality. Apparently, that was also the wrong answer.

His eyes narrowed just for a second and his voice dropped to a sharp edge.

He dropped lower to my eye level.

"Then stay just friends. Or even better—stay away."

My grip tightened around the can in my hand.

"Excuse me?"

He stepped forward. The crowd's murmuring got louder.

"I don't like seeing people like you clinging to her. It's pathetic," he said bluntly. "So let's settle this."

"Settle… what?"

He stared at me dead in the eyes. "Meet me down at the courtyard."

"Yo… this is just like when Sas— I mean, the cool rival challenges the MC in Shinobi Legends! It's give the hospital scene, Norita Vs Shisuke vibes right now!"

I stood still. Stunned."You're not being clear. Meet you down at the courtyard for what?"

"You cut off interaction with Natsuki when you lose. You avoid her. No lunches. No talking. And stop acting like you belong close to her.'' he stated his terms

I tightened my jaw. I could sense my cheeks getting hotter. "What if I win whatever it is?" I continue to question.

he actually laughed. "If you win."

I remained silent. I just stared.

"All right. I'll leave you alone if you win. I will back off completely." He smirks so sure of himself as the crowd makes noise for him.

The cheering crowd went quiet again.

He continued to grin, still really confident. Arms stretched out like Tío as he was being approached by Myutaro.

However, I refused to allow him to write my story for me.

This wasn't some perfect slice of life light novel. This was my life.

"…I accept your terms." I replied.

Another wave of gasps rippled through the hallway.

"Bro just pulled a full-on 'Shadow Hero Rising' move when the quiet guy suddenly flips the script and steals the spotlight!" a nerd blurts.

Hayato smiled one last time. "Then let's see if a background character can beat the protagonist."

With that, he turned on his heel and walked off, his companions parting the crowd as if he were a king making a grand entry through a sea of loyal followers.

Minori approaches me and i pretty much knew what he was going to say

he patted me on the back ''Called it.''

"mhm" I muttered, rubbing the back of my neck. "You want a medal or something?"

He grinned. "Nah, your suffering is reward enough. That aside, good luck."

"Wow some friend you are" I said as we bumped fists.

We started walking down the hallway, away from the crowd that was still buzzing from the whole "Kurosawa vs. Nagano" scene like it was a pay-per-view event.

"Seriously though," Minori added, glancing sideways at me, "What the hell was that? Prince Perfect challenging you in public? Over Natsuki? What age are we living in?"

I shrugged. "No idea. I told him we're just friends."

"And he still challenged you?" Minori whistled. "Man's pulling full-on anime rival energy. Like, Season 2 blood-lusted villain arc type beat."

I groaned. "Don't say that. I don't have the budget for character development right now."

Minori glanced at me, raising an eyebrow "You seriously think he's gonna go through with it? Like… actually face you?"

I nodded slowly. ''Yeah, no way a popular guy like him would cause a scene like that if he wasn't serious about it… right?"

Word quickly spread. Like, very quick.

A huge crowd had begun to form by the time we arrived at the courtyard, where all unauthorised school fights somehow miraculously took place. As if they were ready to watch a gladiator battle from the stands of the Colosseum, students lined the path with their phones out and spoke anticipatingly. With his uniform jacket folded nicely under the tree by one of his fangirls, Hayato stood in the middle, extending his neck from side to side and bounced on the ball of his feet.

He smiled as he looked at me. "This will not take long. I started training judo as soon as I could walk. After all, my father is my very own sensei".

I walked into the ring of students, casually untucking my t-shirt.

''Judo, huh?'' That brought back memories I hadn't touched in years. Dusty ones. Buried deep.

The crowd buzzed with confidence.

"Hayato's gonna crush him!"

"Why's that guy even trying?"

"This is gonna be over in one move."

But I stayed calm. I wasn't here to prove anything. I just… didn't want to be pushed around.

He charged first—fast and sharp. But to me? He was slow. Everything moved like it was in slow motion. My body reacted on instinct, shifting just enough for his arm to miss my collar entirely. I pivoted on my heel and landed a light finger flick to his forehead.

His eyes were wild as he pulled back. The audience let out a gasp.

"WOAH!"

"He actually hit him?!"

"No way!"

"It's only a stupid flick, I'm still standing but you'll pay for such a move" he gets angered about my taunt.

I saw a small break in his ego. Only a bit.

Then—

"Nagano-kun…?"

From behind the crowd came a voice. Known. Anxious. Natsuki-san. Her eyes were wide with horror as she took in the sight, the crowd made way for their school princess.

"What's going on—?!"

But I was unable to respond. I didn't turn around. Hayato-senpai charged again, this time with more aggression. He tried for my collar again and the space between my 4th and last button on my t-shirt. Wrong move. I adjusted my weight, turned my hips, and grabbed his collar and sleeve in one clean motion to the floor.

"What's the name of this move again?"

His feet lifted off the floor. He landed hard on his back with a hurting slam. The audience became quiet. The wind even stopped. Hayato-senpai remained still.

I was standing above him, breathing steadily. Crouching down"...It's over."

He groaned, clearly not expecting a loss—especially not like that. "How the hell—?"

I didn't answer. From the edge of the crowd, Natsuki was staring at me. Her eyes filled with something unreadable—shock, maybe. Worry. Or something else entirely. But all I could do… was give a small shrug. Because even I didn't fully understand what just happened.

Hayato-senpai lay on the ground for a long moment, his breath caught somewhere between disbelief and rage. When he finally pushed himself up, his hands trembled. Not from pain. From fury. His eyes met mine, and for a second, I swear he looked like he genuinely wanted to kill me. The calm prince facade? Gone. What stood in front of me now was someone who'd just been humiliated in front of hundreds of students and couldn't take it.

He gave me a slow, sharp smirk, but there was venom behind it. "Seoi-nage."

That caught me off guard—not the words I was expecting. But I instantly clocked the terminology.

"Ah right." I agree with him.

"It seems I have underestimated you Katsu Nagano. You have won. I recognise you as one to reckon with" Hayato-senpai admits his defeat.

Up until now, I was just background noise to him. An unnamed extra.

But now? I was on his radar. And I wasn't sure if that was a good thing… or a very bad one but my gut told me it would be something bad.

He turned away and stormed off, his entourage following him like ducks in a row. Some girls were crying. Others were still staring at me, wide-eyed, like I'd just stabbed Joreiyu with metal rods causing him to drown.

The moment he disappeared around the corner, Minori exploded. "DUDE!!" He practically tackled me. "THAT WAS SO COOL! I didn't know you had it in you! You straight up did some anime protagonist judoka out there!"

Tanaka-san joined him with a huge grin, holding up her phone. "I think someone just entered his main character arc"

She turned to Minori and whispered, loudly on purpose,

"We should start calling him 'Katsu-wakasama,' don't you think?"

I was about to respond when a shadow fell over us.

"Nagano-kun."

Natsuki-san was standing there, a bit out of breath, as I turned around. Her look hesitated between anxiety, rage, and something else, and her brows were raised.

"Why did you even agree to fight him?" she asked softly.

I hesitated, then looked down, scratching the back of my neck. "I didn't want our friendship to get ruined because of some stupid rumors."

There was a pause. Then I saw it. The faint blush dusting her cheeks. She looked away quickly, brushing her bangs aside.

And of course, Minori and Tanaka seized the moment.

"OHHH he pulled the cheesy card!" Minori cackled.

"Bro, that was so corny it circled back to romantic," Tanaka added, pretending to wipe a tear.

"I mean—wow. 'I didn't want our friendship to be ruined,' huh? You rehearsed that line?"

I groaned "Can't I have one serious moment without you two turning it into a romcom?"

"Absolutely not," they said in unison.
