The richest actor in Hollywood.

Chapter 645: Chapter 645: Muscle Cars

Seeing Paul Walker sitting across from him, Matthew finished his last bite and picked up a napkin to wipe his mouth, saying, "Paul, if you have any questions, just ask. No need to be polite with me."

Paul Walker seemed to be pondering his words. After thinking for a while, he finally spoke, "I've been curious about this for a long time, but I didn't know how to ask."

Matthew made a gesture for him to continue.

"Here's the thing," Paul Walker said, scratching his head, "When the crew talked to me about the actor contract, they specifically added a clause later, which I heard was your idea."

Matthew knew what he was asking and nodded, "Yes, I requested it."

Paul Walker curiously asked, "Why did you ask for a clause to restrict street racing?"

"I've told you before, I don't just want to make one Fast & Furious movie; I want to make many more. If possible, I'd like to keep making them," Matthew had prepared a reasonable explanation when he first asked for this clause to be added. "Paul, reality is not a movie. I want all of us to keep making these films together. If anyone gets into an accident, it would be a loss for the crew, so I asked for this clause to be added."

Paul Walker nodded lightly, "I see."

Matthew continued, "It's not just you. Jordana, Gadot, and Daniel also have the same clause in their contracts."

This wasn't just to reassure Paul Walker; other main actors' contracts had similar clauses because Paul Walker wasn't the only one who liked street racing. Gal Gadot, likely due to her military background, had a somewhat wild love for motorcycles, often riding them around recklessly.

Unfortunately, these clauses could only restrict them while they were working with the crew. Once they finished filming a movie and left the crew, they wouldn't be bound by these contract terms until they officially signed for the next sequel.

This was a legal issue that Matthew couldn't change.

However, with the clause restricting street racing in the contract, Paul Walker would likely be more cautious.

"You're really thorough," Paul Walker couldn't help but smile, "Thinking ahead, I haven't even considered the next movie yet."

Matthew joked, "If you breach the contract, the penalty is quite hefty."

Paul Walker, being serious about his work, assured, "Don't worry, I won't go street racing during filming."

Matthew nodded and didn't say more.

Meanwhile, two main actresses were sitting at the same table, having lunch.

Gal Gadot glanced over at Matthew and Paul Walker's table and asked Jordana Brewster, "Do other Hollywood crews have clauses restricting actors from riding motorcycles to and from work?"

Jordana Brewster shook her head, "I've never heard of it." She added, "It looks like Paul found out the answer."

"He's really an odd person," Gal Gadot looked over at Matthew again.

"You mean Matthew?" Jordana Brewster saw Gal Gadot nod and said, "Hollywood stars have all sorts of quirks. Matthew is one of the least quirky ones."

Gal Gadot agreed, "I can see that. After working together for almost two months, he doesn't have any big star airs, is very kind to people, and has a good temper."

Jordana Brewster tilted her head and looked at her, "Gadot, are you attracted to him? Matthew is known as a playboy in Hollywood."

"I'm not interested in him," Gal Gadot said directly, "He's not my type."

In a typical crew, if there were two actresses with similar roles, they would often compete openly or secretly. But Gal Gadot and Jordana Brewster got along well. One had just come to Hollywood from Israel, and the other came from a well-off family, treating acting more as a hobby and pastime, which led to her remaining a minor star even after nearly ten years.

Jordana Brewster had known Matthew for a long time and said, "Liking someone like Matthew would only cause trouble for yourself."

Gal Gadot looked over again. Matthew was chatting happily with Paul Walker.

After lunch, filming resumed. The first scene of the afternoon was between Matthew and Gal Gadot.

In the newly set-up set, Matthew slowly walked into a large garage and immediately saw a brand-new Mercedes sports car, his gaze lingering on the car for a second.

He didn't need to look to know that the camera lens behind him followed his gaze, focusing on the Mercedes sports car.

This Mercedes sports car was a newly designed SLR coupe, manufactured by McLaren's team in Woking, England. McLaren, with its long history of making F1 cars and racing experience, had incorporated the design rules of the 2003 F1 Silver Arrow into the car's design.

Then, his gaze shifted to another brand-new Mercedes car beside it.

"Interested in this car?" Gal Gadot's voice came from behind.

Matthew didn't speak, just looked at the Mercedes car.

This was a newly designed Mercedes E63 AMG, incorporating some features of American muscle cars. It had a massive V8 engine capable of producing an astonishing 1020 horsepower, and its modified front end made the car look extremely aggressive.

Mercedes-Benz had improved several cars for the crew according to the film's needs, not just models available on the market but also a number of concept cars.

Especially this newly designed Mercedes E63 AMG, used as his character's car, which was different from traditional Mercedes cars and specifically aimed at the North American market.

Of course, if the film did well, Mercedes-Benz would use the North American market as a starting point and then expand globally.

Compared to supercars like the Bugatti Veyron, the cost of this crew car was not expensive, at less than 350,000 euros.

As one of the sponsors of the crew, Mercedes-Benz mainly provided cars for Matthew and Gal Gadot's characters. Jordana Brewster, Paul Walker, and Daniel Wu's cars were mainly Dodges.

After all, the concept of muscle cars was born in America.

In American automotive history, there was a type of car with tough lines, powerful engines, high fuel consumption, and under its ordinary exterior often lay a roaring, large-displacement engine. These were the American muscle cars that became extremely popular and sought after in the 1960s, known as "Muscle Cars."

Three models had the purest American muscle car lineage: the Chevrolet Camaro, the Dodge Challenger, and the Ford Mustang.

The Dodge Challenger was Dominic Toretto's car, and since it conflicted with Matthew's sponsor, the crew chose Paul Walker to inherit Toretto's exclusive car.

"Are you someone who likes cars more than women?"

Gal Gadot, arms crossed and legs swaying, walked out from behind Matthew and stood in front of him. She was wearing a white tight T-shirt and black tight pants, looking exceptionally sexy and beautiful with her stunning looks.

Matthew glanced at her and said his lines, "I like cars with perfect shapes, and I like women with perfect shapes."

He turned his gaze back to the car and asked, "Is this your car?"

"Phoenix's car," Gal Gadot leaned against the car, "You'll see him at the rendezvous point. He'll lead the way."

She tilted her head and looked at Matthew, "Now I know your taste in cars. Tell me, what kind of woman do you like?"

Matthew looked at her and said seriously, "She has to have eyes like yours that can see through the flashy exterior and see a person's essence. She needs to be two parts angel, eight parts devil, very independent, very strong..."

Gal Gadot suddenly stood up, walked over to Matthew, and said, "That doesn't sound like me at all."

Matthew smiled, "Who knows."

With that, he turned and walked out of the garage.

"Cut!" Justin Lin called out, then said loudly, "Matthew, Gadot, your interaction is not enough!"

Matthew looked at Gal Gadot, who shrugged at him.

Justin Lin walked onto the set and told them, "You two will be a couple by the end of the movie. By now, there should already be some inexplicable hormones between you two, but I didn't see that in the last take. Your eyes and expressions were telling the audience, 'We have no special relationship; we will never be together.'"

Gal Gadot smiled sheepishly, "I understand."

Matthew nodded, "I'm still not out of the action scenes from the morning."

The filming had just started, and he wasn't in the best condition. Action scenes were no problem, but emotional scenes were not his strong suit unless they involved taking off clothes and getting straight to the point.

This film, while having many sexy scenes, didn't include any explicit passion scenes.

Justin Lin gave Matthew and Gal Gadot three minutes to adjust. Matthew briefly communicated with Gal Gadot. During the preparatory rehearsals, most of their scenes were action scenes, with relatively few emotional scenes.

The subsequent filming encountered some difficulties. Matthew, with his extensive filming experience, and seeing Gal Gadot as a stunning beauty in his eyes, could easily conjure up the image of the once incredibly handsome and intelligent Wonder Woman, making his gaze fiery and intense.

Gal Gadot, being a complete newcomer, often failed to express her emotions adequately. This shot was retaken nearly ten times before Justin Lin finally approved it.

Shooting with a crew is always like this. Sometimes it goes smoothly, and other times it doesn't. In the first five days of shooting, various issues frequently arose, and they barely completed Justin Lin's minimum plan.

On the sixth day of shooting, a director visiting Justin Lin on set piqued Matthew's interest.
