The Paradisus Chronicles Book 1: Vengeance

Chapter 4: A Mysterious Voice

"You must act like the very respected healers that you are supposed to be new members of. If you will follow me to the private transport we will be leaving this world, and we will be going to a very special training facility reserved for the members of both our specialist and healer caste." the lady said in a very serious tone as she walked in on the current argument that had just finished between Donivon and Fredrick.

So, I was going to be moving to another world to do my healer training before my true life as a member of the healer caste could start.

Then I noticed that everyone started to gather around the elderly lady.

"Well good to see that you all want to embrace your new lives instead of becoming a member of the casteless."

After she said that; she started to move to the elevator that was in the hallway then we all started to move down the hallway to the end where there was a pair of express elevators. There was one clear difference between the two of them. The elevator to the right was generic looking just like the one that I had used to make it to the floor of this building to have my Klitron.

The second elevator that was right beside it had a pair of guards that were wearing the armor of the warrior caste in front of it. The elevator itself was black which made it dramatically stand out in this building where almost everything was white.

The older lady walked to the guarded elevator and I followed her into it. I noticed that everyone followed her as well.

After the entire group seemed to get into the elevator it started to move on its own. Until it made it to the top floor of the building the elevator felt like everyone was packed inside of the elevator as tight as a can of sardines.

As the door of the elevator opened, I saw a dark blue shuttle on the top of the building that was rectangular with a pair of wings that went about half a foot away from the ship. Under that, I saw a pair of thrusters hanging right under the metal wings of the ship.

There also was a pair of guards standing by the back section of the ship.

"Now you will all go to this ship in an orderly fashion. Everyone of our caste must act maturely". The adult said to everyone before I saw her walk over to the section of the ship where the guards were standing.

I noticed that Donivon rushed towards the ship as if he wanted to get to the planet where we were going to be having our training as healers of The Terran Collective.

"Move I want to get into the ship first. As a former member of the warrior caste, I want to make it there as quickly as I possibly could." Donovan said as I saw him push past me and everyone else on his way to the ship.

"Donovan, I hope that you know that it does not matter who gets to the world where we will be training first. We all will most likely be receiving the same type of training as healers of our race." I said to him as I rose back onto my feet.

Everyone else in the group moved towards the ship in an orderly fashion. I truthfully did not understand why Donovan was in such a rush to the planet where we would be training together. Was this because of the very competitive nature that I had heard that the members of the warrior caste had? If that was why; I most definitely did not want to see how bad he would act if he lost to someone in combat.

Either way, he was no longer a member of that caste. He was a member of the healer caste. Because of that, we are now on an even playing field, and I will do whatever it will take to become better at combat than any member of the warrior caste.

"Donivon! I declare this to you right now! I will be stronger than you after this training, and you will not be able to best me in either training or in combat." I exclaimed at him as I pointed my right hand at him expressing my anger.

He turned around and walked out of the ship towards me in a very confident stride.

"Are you sure that you can back that claim up?" He asked me as he got into my face.

"Yes; I Danny hereby claim to surpass you in the art of combat by the time that we are released into the public as healers of The Terran Collective," I said in a very confident tone of voice.

"Good to hear that you have a backbone at least. I am always looking for someone that I can call my rival". Donovan said to me as he butted me on the head his head.

"Boys and their silly oaths. Why can they not just simply be competitive with each other? I do not understand why they cannot keep their swords out when it comes to fighting." Nora said as she walked between Donivon and I.

She turned around and glanced at me with her large and open eyes which caused butterflies to form in my stomach as she made it into the ship.

"Well, if you are now all done wasting my time we need to get going!" the lady exclaimed as she stepped between Donivon and me as she started to wave at everyone from the inside of the transport ship.

As soon as she exclaimed everyone went straight into the ship. When I entered the ship; I had a very odd feeling that I was not used to showing up in my heart. This feeling was a feeling that I would most likely never see my home world again in my life.

The ship was a simple two-sectioned vessel with the back area containing rows of metal seats. In the front area, I saw the section that had the piloting controls.

After the ship took off, I was quickly thrust into the sky, and I was amazed at what I was seeing. Only a few moments passed before we were breaking through the clouds, and breaking through the atmosphere into the stars as the thrusters of the ship activated a burst of speed.

When the ship broke out of the plant's gravitational pull, I could see the massive fleet of ships that varied in size but, they were each made of a dark blue metal and they had the symbol of a black falcon on them.

The ship went into the larger ship that was in the center of the fleet. As the door of the ship closed, I knew that my life had been forever changed. After only one day very busy I was no longer a member of the crafter caste, and I am now about to be thrust into a galaxy that is actively at war between five superior species over the blue mineral known as Paradisus.

"Everyone on this ship will need to go to sleep while we are on the journey to the world where the members of your caste train to become the best healers that you can be for our race in this active war." The older lady said to all of us as she slid open the door that was between me and my new life.

As she finished speaking Donivon dashed out of the ship as if he was in a hurry once again.

"Will he ever stop acting like everything that he does is a competition for him to win". Nova said as she walked as she walked out of the ship.

"Knowing that he was a former jarhead; I would never expect for him to not act competitively with others," Fredrick said as he tapped the ceiling of the transport and walked outside.

When I stepped out of the ship, I saw that I was in a very busy hanger. The floor was metal that was being actively cleaned by cleaning drones that were small and circular. Then I saw that many humans were rushing to the transport that I had just gotten out of carrying data tablets, torches, and boxes of fuel.

"Come on Danny do not make everyone wait for you by acting like someone who has never seen an active spaceship crew at work in your life." The elderly lady said as she waved at me.

I followed the group out of the hangar and we walked over to the elevator as one group. I could see that each of the guards kneeled on one leg as the entire group of fresh healers walked past them.

"It is a great day to a member of the healer caste. these warriors recognize my greatness." Donovan said as he slowly twirled around with both of his hands raised at the ceiling.

"I am tired of all this gloating that you are doing. Why don't you just do the galaxy a huge favor and shut the hell up!" I said to Donivon before I punched him in the right side of his jaw and knocked him out.

"Well; that is at least one way to solve the problem that he brings to the group," Nova said softly into my right ear.

Then a pair of warriors picked up Donivon and carried him to the area where he was to sleep during this journey.

After the warriors carried him away, I was guided to my room which was in the room right next to his.

This floor was long and narrow with doors every ten feet, and above the doors, I saw a white light that was motion-activated.

When I had made it into my room, I did not take time to look around the room at what was around me due to my level of exhaustion. I closed my eyes as soon as I hit the bed without even getting undressed.

I opened my eyes, and I knew that I was no longer on the Terran ship. I was now in a dark forest that had become barren. The area around me was covered with a white fog.

"It is time for your journey to begin Danny." A mysterious female voice said to me from somewhere in the fog.

I slowly turned around in a full circle trying to locate the point of origin of the voice.

"You do not have to fear me; Danny. I am here to guide you to unlocking the secrets of your destiny". The mysterious voice said to me.

"I can not trust someone who will not reveal her location to me," I said to the female voice.

"Danny, it does not matter if you trust me or not; Your destiny was written in the stars long before you were even born. This means that you do not have that much say in choosing to believe me or not.

Most people walk the path that is intended to avoid their destiny, but they unknowingly achieve it in their desperate attempt to avoid it.

At some point, you will be thankful for the help and advice that I will offer you".

After that voice spoke those words to me; I woke up in a cold sweat. Was I to believe what she said or would I need to resist and go against what she said to me?

The only thing that I was certain of was the fact that what I saw was more than just a dream, but I would not be able to listen to the words of someone who did not reveal their face to me.
