Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 622: Chapter 622: The Trolley Problem and Provoking Superman

"Hancock!" The woman beside him exclaimed when she saw Hancock fall to the ground. Her brows furrowed, and she bit her lip, a hesitant glint flashing in her eyes. But she quickly bit the bullet, turned, and hurried away.

Clark had actually seen what happened. If he had chosen to intervene, he could have saved Hancock. Unfortunately, he was too preoccupied.

Clark was currently grappling with the age-old moral dilemma: the trolley problem.

When Hancock was about to be struck on the head with a hammer, a bus was simultaneously careening out of control toward a nearby shop, and a streetlight was toppling over with several children underneath it...

Clark made his choice. In a situation where no one was technically at fault, he opted to save as many people as possible. Hancock's predicament was an unfortunate accident, while the other two incidents would undoubtedly result in significant casualties if not prevented.

Clark did not anticipate, however, that when Hancock was struck down and on the brink of death, the woman with him would flee. If Clark hadn't seen it himself, he would have suspected she was the one who struck Hancock. But Clark couldn't understand why she would run away even if she no longer loved him.

Clark had no time to ponder Hancock's situation, as yet another mishap demanded his attention. Without Robert around, even getting Hancock to a hospital wouldn't guarantee his survival. The hospitals were already overwhelmed with patients due to the increasing frequency of random accidents affecting people worldwide. Clark had to constantly make tough decisions.

Clark didn't notice that as he rushed off to another disaster, Hancock, lying on the ground and on the verge of death, suddenly began to recover. The bleeding stopped, and his wounds healed rapidly. If not for the bloodstains around him, it would seem like he hadn't been injured at all.

"Where am I?" Hancock slowly opened his eyes, startled by the sight of blood around him. He shot up from the ground, soaring into the sky.

"What the heck?! Why am I flying? Oh no, I'm falling! Help, I'm going to crash! Fly, come on, fly..." In the air, Hancock's shouts turned from confusion to terror as he plummeted to the ground.

"Crash!" Hancock landed directly on a parked car, its owner nearby. Seeing his car crushed, the owner looked on in bewilderment before retreating in fear.

"What on earth is happening?" the car owner muttered, watching Hancock crawl out of the wreckage unscathed, bewildered.

Hancock, having lost much of his memory, was particularly confused about his identity and abilities. His basic survival instincts told him that he shouldn't be able to fly or survive such a fall unhurt.

"Superman?" The car owner, baffled, mumbled at the sight of Hancock emerging uninjured.

"Superman? He's not worthy of being compared to me!" Hancock instinctively retorted. A flash of memory hit him: he remembered watching TV, where Superman was praised for another heroic deed. Hancock, feeling competitive, believed he could do better if he tried.

In his daze, he also remembered a gentle woman in his arms, but the image quickly faded before he could recognize her.

"Damn it! What have I lost? Who is she?" Hancock clutched his chest, feeling as if something crucial was missing. He looked around, hoping to find a clue.

The car owner, frightened by Hancock's gaze, retreated quickly, no longer concerned about his car. Hancock glared at him, then began leaping about, trying to regain flight.

After many attempts that left the street full of craters, Hancock finally managed to fly again.

Elsewhere, the woman who had left Hancock stopped, tears streaming down her face. She turned back, seemingly sensing Hancock's recovery. She wiped her tears and murmured:

"Hancock, embrace your new life. Staying with me would make you lose your powers and bring you endless misfortune. You used to only suffer minor accidents, but now you almost died. This must be a curse from the heavens, a curse on our union..."

"If I don't leave now, I might not have another chance to help you regain your powers and heal. Hancock, you always wanted to prove you could outdo Superman. Go on, let the world know there's more than one Superman. You're my Superman too... Bastard! How dare you hit him?"

"Boom!"

As she spoke, a terrifying power burst from her, causing thunder and lightning, and tornadoes formed around her. The next moment, she vanished but quickly reappeared in the air, calming down.

"No, if I go, Hancock might regain his memory. If we are together, our powers will weaken, and we won't stand a chance against Superman. Better let Hancock adapt and seek his own path..." She sighed, landing gently and walking away from Hancock.

When Hancock first took off, Clark noticed the commotion. Having just saved a bus teetering off a bridge, he saw Hancock flying towards him.

"What's going on?" Clark muttered, confused. He distinctly remembered seeing Hancock struck down, lying in a pool of blood. How could Hancock now be alive and flying?

Reviewing his memory, Clark confirmed he wasn't mistaken. "Could it be that this mishap isn't just bad luck? Are those who die gaining extraordinary powers? No, if that were the case, Tony would have informed me. And those I saw who died didn't gain powers; they were truly dead..."

As Clark pondered, Hancock flew up to him, demanding, "Are you Superman?"

"Yes," Clark nodded, about to ask Hancock something when he suddenly heard cries from a burning building, its exits inexplicably blocked.

"Stop! Don't run!" Hancock shouted as Clark vanished, reappearing in the fire.

"Move!" Clark ordered impatiently, feeling the urgency of saving lives. He vanished again, reappearing in the burning building.

"Whoosh!" Clark used his freeze breath to extinguish the flames without harming any trapped victims.

"Superman saved us! Thank you, Superman..." Gratitude echoed around him, but Clark, accustomed to it, focused on his next rescue.

"You threw me aside to save them?" Hancock caught up, not blocking Clark but following awkwardly.

"The world is facing numerous disasters, threatening lives everywhere. To prevent more casualties, I must save as many as I can..." Clark's tone softened as he explained.

"No wonder so many are flying, and accidents are happening..." Hancock nodded, his sharp eyes observing many similar situations. Then, a competitive gleam appeared in his eyes. "If you're saving people, I won't stop you. Let's see who can save more, deal?"

"Saving lives isn't a competition, but your help is welcome..." Clark replied seriously. "However, you need better control over your powers. I worry you might harm civilians. Train more before joining the effort."

"Hmph! Don't underestimate me! If I had shown my powers before, the title Superman wouldn't be yours!" Hancock scoffed and flew in the opposite direction.

"Hope he doesn't cause more trouble..." Clark sighed, continuing his rescue mission.

With society in chaos, some took advantage of the situation, unleashing their inner evils. As fear spread, opportunists emerged, adding to the turmoil.
