Chapter 401: A Weapon That Changed the World
[Alien Core Battery.]
They couldn't help but raise their eyebrows when Vivian mentioned the core.
Vivian continued, "I have been working on this project for a while with the help of Elder Thompson and his dwarf, Zalton.
"We have been thinking about using alien cores in a different way, and I can finally bring joyous news to all normal people out there."
Vivian glanced at Nathan.
Nathan nodded and moved to the side of the stage while picking up his gun.
"Is that… a weapon?"
"What kind of weapon is that?"
"Crossbow?"
Vivian explained, "This weapon is called a gun. However, instead of its unique design, I would like you to focus on Nathan and the weapon. I want you to check whether Nathan uses his ena or not."
Everyone followed her instruction and squinted their eyes, observing Nathan carefully.
Vivian snapped her fingers as veins appeared out of thin air and expanded, creating a practice dummy in the middle of the stage.
After a nod from Vivian, Nathan pointed his gun at the dummy. Then he shot the dummy with Ena's bullet.
Bang!
Everyone was startled because the silence shattered.
"Eh? Did he shoot something?"
"What was that?"
"I might be seeing things, but all I saw was something made of ena. It didn't have any physical form."
Melissa and Robert couldn't help but stand up.
Melissa gasped, "Did you just shoot ena without releasing your ena?"
"Huh?" Some people were confused, but most of them fell into deep thought, noticing the way she phrased it.
Robert gulped down. "Jeez. This little girl can't stop amusing me. Are you allowing normal people to use ena?"
Vivian smiled. "To answer that question, I better show it to you directly. Any knights in here?"
She raised her head, looking at the guard near the door. She pointed at the guard while saying, "You. Yes, you. You are a guard, right? Come here."
The guard was startled, but with all the people staring at him, it seemed he had no choice but to go to the stage.
Under everyone's watch, the guard made his way to the stage as Nathan handed him his gun.
"Please hold it with both of your hands. Put your index finger on the trigger. There will be a burst of ena at the tip, which will cause a recoil… I mean, it will push the weapon up. So, I want you to aim at the stomach and try to counter that recoil by bringing it down. Understood?"
The instruction was pretty simple, so he understood right away.
Everyone was glaring at him, not planning to miss a single thing.
The guard carefully followed Nathan's instruction and aimed for the stomach.
Vivian and Nathan took a step back while raising their hands, showing that they didn't help the guard.
The guard became nervous, wondering if he would get hurt. In addition, others were glaring intensely at him.
With a gentle smile, Nathan said, "Don't worry about it. Anything you can think of in your mind won't happen. Take a few deep breaths and pull the trigger."
Hearing his assurance allowed the guard to be a bit more focused. After checking it a few times, the guard pressed the trigger.
Bang!
Another bullet was shot, this time hitting the neck instead of the stomach.
Everyone dropped their jaws to the ground.
It was happening. A normal guard, who didn't have ena in their body, was able to shoot something made of ena.
"Before explaining it, I will show you one more weapon, which is the most common one." Vivian grabbed the sword and handed it to the ground.
Nathan took the pistol while explaining, "This is something you use often, right? The only thing different is that you now have a trigger in your sword. Just swing like you normally do. Make sure it's a horizontal swing.
"Right after you swing the sword, pull the trigger and release it after you complete your swing. Do you understand?"
"Y-Yes." The guard had become calmer because nothing happened to him. It also felt amazing when his action could actually stun the people in this hall.
"Alright. Good luck." Nathan patted him on the back to calm him down, but it didn't seem to be necessary anymore.
The guard took another deep breath as he saw Vivian nodding to him.
He then raised his sword above his head and swung it down. He pressed the trigger according to Nathan's instruction, and the sword released the ena forward.
Because he wasn't used to it, the ena ended up hitting the ceiling and gradually coming down as the sword was moving, ultimately stopping after cutting the floor.
The guard couldn't believe what he just did. Did he just cut the ceiling and the floor with ena? He wasn't a summoner, so he wasn't supposed to be able to release ena.
In addition, the dummy that was two meters (7.5 feet) away from him was split into two and fell to the ground.
He, a normal person, could actually do this?
Although his face was pale because he thought he might need to use his salary to compensate for the damage, he was still occupied by what he had just done.
Of course, Nathan calmly approached him and tried to take the sword before it hurt other people. "Thank you."
Still, there wasn't a single sound in the hall other than Nathan's voice.
Everyone was too stunned to speak.
Melissa stood up and ended up dropping to her butt. Robert was clutching his chest as if he almost got a heart attack by what had been shown, while the rest had their respective reactions.
Obviously, there were some spies who had to report their respective influences among them, including one guy who was sent by Flora.
His body was trembling in fear.
All normal people dreamed of becoming a summoner, but fate was cruel enough to choose less than 1% of people in this world.
However, what if that dream could become a reality? They might not become a summoner, but they could still wield the same thing as a summoner.
If a knight wielded it, there was a chance they could kill a juvenile class alien by themselves, surpassing the limit of a human being.
Vivian smiled, as this was the desired effect from this demonstration. While hiding her smug smile, she casually said, "And now I shall explain how it works."
