Strongest Maniac: Born in an Asylum

Chapter 58: We'll Run Towards Freedom Together

Ah!

So, the light was just their hallucination. When they entered what they thought was a dangerous place, they imagined it as a place of light.

The bright light was a figment of their imagination.

Inside the hospital room, Mark Zhang huddled in a corner with his daughter, trembling. He had been truly terrified. His benefactor was indeed a benefactor, but he was also undoubtedly a mental patient. The two were not mutually exclusive, but they couldn't be equated.

Lee Fortune and the others entered the room and surveyed the scene. The four masters from the special department saw the malevolent entity lying on the bed and immediately became alert. But then they realized there were no signs of life.

It was dead!

How did it die?

They looked at the father and daughter huddled in the corner. Could they have done it? It didn't seem likely.

"Where are they..."

Lee Fortune was surprised. Where had the two mental patients gone? Please don't let them have been eaten by the monster. That would complicate things. If Director Hess finds out, he'll chew me out, curse me out, maybe even sue me.

"Vice Director, you're finally here!"

For Mark Zhang, the past few moments had been a form of torture. He had watched as the two mental patients pushed the monster onto the bed and subjected it to all sorts of cruel research.

"Were they eaten?" Lee Fortune asked.

"No, they weren't eaten," Mark Zhang said quickly. "It was like this. That monster came into our room, looking for someone. But it couldn't find them and said it was in the wrong place. Then my benefactor dragged it in and pushed it onto the bed."

"Then the other mental patient took out his needles and started jabbing its head furiously. You probably don't know how horribly that monster screamed."

The four masters from the special department examined the scene.

"No mistake, this is the Level 3 malevolent entity we were looking for. Who killed it?"

"We don't know yet."

"Call someone to take the body back. We need to find out what happened to this entity."

Just then, the bald master, a graduate of the Buddhist Temple High Institute, walked up to Lee Fortune and said jokingly, "That staff of yours hit me on the head just now. Although I'm fine for now, I might have a concussion. You're going to have to take responsibility."

Lee Fortune had no time to deal with him. He ignored him and questioned Mark Zhang instead.

"So where did they go?"

"They left," Mark Zhang said nervously. "I just heard them say something about killing it and having to bear the consequences together, and then they ran."

Lee Fortune slapped his forehead in frustration. This was getting complicated. The two mental patients had escaped during the chaos in the hospital. What if they got outside... This was a bit of a problem.

He didn't dare tell Director Hess yet, fearing his colorful language. He had to find them first.

Lee Fortune turned to the four masters. "I'll leave the rest to you. I can't handle any more of this. I have something else to do, so I won't stay. Goodbye."

With that, he immediately called for Huang Guan and gathered the security guards to search for the two patients.

The bald man watched him leave and pointed. "That man is so rude."

On the city streets.

Walter walked down the street, looking at the passing crowd. He was a little scared and nervous, huddling closer to Leo.

"Don't be afraid."

Leo put his arm around Walter's shoulder. "I'm here. No one can bully you."

Walter ducked his head, clutching his beloved needle case, and carefully watched the passersby. He was used to the environment of his home and didn't like it here very much.

Leo saw that Walter was nervous. He scratched his head and said, "I'll take you somewhere."

Walter nodded, grabbing the corner of Leo's shirt. He kept his head down, not daring to look around. Leo, on the other hand, held his head high with a smile on his face. Their strange clothes naturally attracted the attention of passersby.

Leo kept a constant smile on his face, sincerely looking at every person who stared at them. It was indeed a brilliant smile, but it sent a shiver down the spines of the passersby.

One person saw the ID tags hanging around their necks and trembled. These two were from the asylum! They quickly sped up and walked away.

Leo wanted to take Walter somewhere where there were no people.

A while later, they were under the Grand Bridge.

Leo and Walter sat on the grass, watching the rolling river flow by. They sat in silence, just watching.

Walter calmed down.

"It's so quiet here."

"Yes, it is."

They looked at each other and giggled. This was the first time they had been out alone. At the asylum, they couldn't get out; someone was always watching them. And they didn't like to go out anyway. The feeling of being at home was the best.

It was quiet here. The sound of the flowing water and the occasional toot of a boat horn filled their ears. Everything was so beautiful.

They lay on the grass, looking up at the sun. The gentle sunlight warmed their bodies, making them feel safe and at ease. Everything was peaceful and comfortable.

"Is my acupuncture really that useless?" Walter asked.

"It's useful," Leo replied.

"But why haven't I succeeded even once? I even killed someone. I feel terrible right now. I want to cry. I really wanted to help him."

Walter's nose twitched, and his eyes reddened with self-reproach. That ugly-looking man had died right in front of them.

"You have succeeded," Leo said. "I am your successful example. I believe your acupuncture is useful."

Walter's mood improved slightly after being comforted. "Mmm, and I believe you can cultivate. No one else believes it, but I really do."

"So we just need to be ourselves," Leo said, gently pointing to his head. "We don't need to care what other people think. They're probably just different from us."

Walter nodded seriously. "That's probably it."

"I'm sleepy."

"Me too."

Old Wang: Hey! Hey! You were just feeling guilty a moment ago. How are you okay now?

As time went on, the two of them closed their eyes and lay quietly on the grass. They liked this environment very much. Everything was good.

After an unknown amount of time, a noisy sound came from nearby.

"Mmph... mmph..."

Someone was struggling.

"Big brother, is this little brat really worth that much money?"

"Are you kidding me? Do you know who his father is? The richest man in Seaside City! And this is his only son! Do you know what kind of luck this is? This is the kind of luck that can send you to the heavens! It wasn't a waste for us to squat in the toilet for three days to finally catch this kid."

"Big brother, then how much ransom are we going to ask for?"

"At least a few hundred million."

"Ah... so much."

The two men talking were kidnappers. One was as thin as a stick, with a sneaky look. The other was fierce, with a scar on his face like a centipede crawling across it.

Leo was woken up. He slowly opened his eyes, rubbed them, and turned his head. It seemed someone had appeared. Did they find us so quickly?

He stood up and looked ahead. A minivan was parked under the bridge. Two adults were dragging a small child out. The child's hands and feet were tied, and his mouth was taped shut.

Leo just watched quietly, not understanding what they were doing.

The two kidnappers were busy. The younger one saw someone standing in the distance and trembled. He pulled on his big brother's sleeve.

"Big brother, there's someone there."

The scarred man looked at Leo, his brows furrowed. He touched the pistol at his waist. It seemed he would have to silence him.
