Star King Chronicles

Chapter 5: Of Both Man And Woman

The boy walked for a little bit through the dark woods, tracing the steps of the servants by following their footprints until he made it to a large wooden house that stood by a river.

He walked up to the door and knocked on it. "Good evening! It's your king from earlier. I drove off the man, and he won't harm any of you anymore!"

A few seconds passed before the door was opened by a maid holding up a lantern with a concerned look on her face. "G-Good evening- eeek!"

She yelped as she saw that the boy was still naked. "C-Come inside before anyone else sees you!"

The boy was ushered into the house by the maid, who grabbed a loose tablecloth and wrapped it around his body.

"Thank you for that. It was getting a little breezy. Do you know where my mother is? I have to tell her the good news!"

The maid pointed her finger towards the room at the end of the hallway. "Lady Myrym is over there."

"Oh? Mother's name is Myrym? It sounds great! Thank you!" He ran off to the room, opening it without a second thought.

The young man found his mother asleep on the bed. She seemed to be quite peaceful this time around, with no look of discomfort on her face.

Seeing that brought him great joy. "Yey! Mission accomplished!" He crawled into the sheets with his mother and hugged her while she slept throughout the night.

Myrym groaned slightly as she woke up. She rubbed her eyes, recalling the strange situation she was in last night.

"Was… that just a dream?"

"Was what a dream?" A young boy spoke beside her with a grin on his face.

The princess screamed as she scrambled out of bed and fell on the floor. "Ahhh! Who are you?!"

She pointed at the boy, completely flabbergasted at the situation.

The boy stepped out of the bed, completely naked, as he placed his hand to his chest. "Ehem, good morning mother! I am your son!"

Myrym's face contorted in confusion. Her son? She collected herself for a few moments before remembering that she did get pregnant all of a sudden yesterday.

"M-My… son? Wait… does that mean…" She rubbed her stomach and then looked at the boy.

"You came out of me like that?!" Myrym realized that she somehow managed a virgin birth. One that created a fully grown child.

Yesterday was a special day, after all, being the birth of the Promised Prince. Does that mean that the stars blessed her?

The boy shook his head. "It's more like I emanated from you! But that doesn't matter because now we're here together!"

Myrym could barely string together words on the situation at hand. However, she was snapped out of her stupor when she realized that he was still naked.

"W-Wait, you need to put on some clothes!" She ran to the wardrobe and grabbed a small robe. The princess then wrapped it around her son and sighed

He hugged and nuzzled her with a happy little grin. "Thank you, mother!"

Myrym patted his head in confusion. "Uhm… alright… wait! I'm being hunted. How could I forget? We need to get you to safety!"

The boy tilted his head. "Oh? Do you mean the Marquis? I took care of him and his men already; you don't have to worry."

Myrym looked at her son and blinked a few times. "What do you mean… took care?"

The young man crossed his arms and grinned. "I fought all his men off! And then I fought the Marquis, and he suddenly called for a truce for peace!"

The princess's jaw slackened. Her son just fought off the Marquis and his men. They were said to be able to conquer whole cities in mere moments with their strength.

"You actually fought them and… won? How?"

The boy tilted his head. "Because I needed to protect you, of course. That's why."

Myrym felt a warmth wash over her body. A smile came over her face as she relaxed. "That's… that's so sweet. Thank you for that."

She hugged him, and he hugged back, smiling back at her. "You're welcome! Now, the Marquis is my ally, and I'm going to help him in an upcoming battle. So he'll return soon."

The princess felt a chill over her body. "W-What? Then we have to get out of here! You can't help someone like him; he's the enemy!"

The young man shook his head. "He's an ally now and shall help me out. It's only fair I shall aid in his battle. Then I shall rule over him as the king of the land!"

Myrym stopped moving and simply stared at her son, confused. "What? What do you mean, king of this land?"

The boy stood up with his hand on his chest. "I am to be the king and savior of the land! That's what the stars told me."

His mother stood up with him, even more confused than before, but she slowly pieced it together.

She was blessed by the stars to give birth to a child who would be king and savior; it must explain why he would be so powerful but also speak of himself as a ruler.

Myrym would need to help him learn about the world so that he would not be used by people like Foremus to fight their battles.

"We're going to need to get you away from the Marquis as quickly as possible."

"Mother, I do not mean to be rude, but I gave him my word. I don't intend to go back to it." He smiled at her earnestly. It was clear that he would not back down.

Myrym sighed and shook her head. "Then we must find out what battle he intends to use you in and ensure he does not get what he wants. He's part of a separatist army that intends to split off from the Queen of this land."

The boy nodded. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind when he returns! Don't worry if he does anything to you; I'll go and fight him off again!"

He placed his hands on his hips and smiled proudly.

His mother could not contain her laughter and cracked a smile while she patted his head. "Alright, thank you…"

Myrym realized that she hadn't even given her son a name. She quickly thought back on the day she just had. All of this was, well, a miracle, and the center of it was her son… so a fitting name should match him.

She cupped his face and gave him a warm smile.

"Thank you, Nasiah. Thank you."
