Soul Land: Xiao Yan Reincarnates as Huo Yuhao

Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Hall of Souls? Necromancy!

Elder Xuan's gaze locked onto the elder who had just appeared, his expression tightening. He muttered to himself, "Such a powerful presence… His strength seems comparable to Elder Mu's."

The elder stroked his beard with a faint smile. "It's been a while, Xuanzi."

"You… Who are you?" Elder Xuan asked warily, his face darkening. This face was unfamiliar, yet the casual way the elder addressed him suggested a profound identity. Frowning, he tried to recall.

The elder chuckled. "I am Long Xiaoyao."

"Long Xiaoyao? Long Xiaoyao?!" Elder Xuan's face changed drastically. His voice trembled as he said, "You're… still alive?"

"Old but not dead, as the saying goes. If Mu En is still alive, why wouldn't I be?" Long Xiaoyao sighed.

The Tale of Long Xiaoyao

Long Xiaoyao, a 99th-level Assault-Type Limit Douluo, bore the title Dragon Emperor. His martial soul, the Dark Saint Dragon, placed him on par with Dragon God Douluo Mu En, the two earning the moniker of the Twin Sacred Dragons—one of darkness, one of light. However, Long Xiaoyao's path veered toward darkness, and he became the chief consecrator of the Holy Spirit Cult, the most infamous dark soul master organization.

Years ago, a youthful Long Xiaoyao had roamed the continent and met Mu En, whose martial soul, the Bright Saint Dragon, naturally clashed with his own. Their rivalry drove them to compete fiercely in numerous duels, culminating in a decisive loss for Long Xiaoyao during the finals of the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Tournament, where Mu En led his team to victory.

It was during these matches that they encountered Ye Xishui, a peerless female soul master whose talent matched their own. Following graduation, their fates intertwined as they crossed paths during an incident involving dark soul masters. Their combined efforts eliminated the threat, cementing their bond. Over time, their relationship evolved into a close friendship, with Ye Xishui accompanying them on their adventures.

Both young men soon found themselves falling for Ye Xishui. When they turned 28, they decided to confess their feelings simultaneously. However, Ye Xishui ultimately chose Mu En, shattering Long Xiaoyao's heart. Distraught, he left without looking back.

In the following year, Long Xiaoyao unleashed his frustrations on the battlefield, earning renown for his heroics and ruthlessness. Yet, he could never escape hearing of Mu En and Ye Xishui's exploits as the continent's premier duo. Over time, resentment festered within him.

When their paths crossed again, Long Xiaoyao challenged Mu En publicly but suffered a humiliating defeat. That night, a drunken Ye Xishui intentionally sought out Long Xiaoyao, entangling the three in a web of pain and betrayal.

Years later, Ye Xishui emerged as the leader of the Holy Spirit Cult, her twin martial souls granting her unrivaled power as a 99th-level Limit Douluo. Guilt-ridden, Long Xiaoyao joined the cult, dedicating himself to protecting her.

Present

Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao's sudden appearance was no coincidence. Rumors of Elder Xuan's aberrant behavior during his recovery—specifically his consumption of corpses—had reached the Holy Spirit Cult. For a cult that revered powerful dark soul masters, such an opportunity was irresistible. Like Ma Xiaotao's corrupted Black Phoenix, they sought to claim Elder Xuan for their own.

Elder Xuan's Gluttonous Divine Ox martial soul contained traces of the ancient Taotie, a malevolent dragon known for devouring all in its path. Compared to the Black Phoenix, this martial soul was incomparably more potent, making Elder Xuan a prime target for recruitment.

---

Seeing that Long Xiaoyao knew Elder Xuan, Xiao Yan's expression darkened. Though his body was currently under Yao Lao's control, he was acutely aware of the toll it took on his teacher's spiritual energy. Prolonged conflict would exhaust Yao Lao, leaving Xiao Yan vulnerable to certain death.

"Teacher, should we retreat with the Soul-Devouring Knife? These two are incredibly strong, and your spiritual energy won't last. We should live to fight another day," Xiao Yan suggested hesitantly.

"Haha, discretion is indeed the better part of valor tonight," Yao Lao replied with a faint chuckle. He then raised Xiao Yan's hand, unleashing a wave of suction force that instantly pulled the Soul-Devouring Knife into his grasp.

Just as Xiao Yan was about to retreat, Ye Xishui's cold voice echoed. "Leaving? Not so fast." Her words were followed by a blood-red handprint imbued with terrifying energy, hurtling toward him.

Yao Lao reacted swiftly, his control of Xiao Yan's body precise. With a flick of his sleeve, a mass of ghostly white flames surged forth, condensing into a crystalline mirror. The mirror, wreathed in flickering flames, radiated an eerie duality of ice and fire.

"Boom!"

The blood-red handprint struck the mirror, its energy rapidly consumed by the white flames until it froze and shattered into countless fragments.

"What a strange flame! Even as a Limit Douluo, you won't leave here alive now that you've seen us." Ye Xishui's voice was cold as her seventh and eighth soul rings flared. A massive ghostly figure emerged behind her, exuding a suffocating aura.

Simultaneously, Long Xiaoyao released his soul rings: two yellow, two purple, three black, and two red. Each successive ring intensified his oppressive presence, distorting the surrounding air.

In a synchronized attack, Long Xiaoyao engaged Xiao Yan head-on while Ye Xishui launched a sneak attack. Just as Ye Xishui's assault was about to land, a dazzling gray light erupted from Xiao Yan's body.

The gray light's purifying aura caused Ye Xishui's dark energy to dissipate, unable to approach Xiao Yan.

---

An Unexpected Turn

"What is that light?!" Ye Xishui's expression twisted in shock, her blood-red energy recoiling before the gray radiance.

Long Xiaoyao's face darkened. "That energy… It feels like something from the Hall of Souls."

"The Hall of Souls?" Ye Xishui muttered, her gaze narrowing. "How could this boy possess such power?"

Taking advantage of their hesitation, Yao Lao manipulated Xiao Yan's body, retreating rapidly. The gray light lingered as a protective barrier, shielding him from pursuit.

"Damn it! He's escaping!" Ye Xishui growled, her hands clenching tightly.

Long Xiaoyao placed a hand on her shoulder, shaking his head. "Let him go. That gray energy isn't something we should provoke carelessly. He'll resurface sooner or later."

Ye Xishui's eyes burned with fury, but she relented. "Very well. But next time, I'll make sure he doesn't escape."

As the gray light faded into the night, the oppressive tension in the room finally dissipated. Yet both Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao knew that their encounter with Xiao Yan had merely set the stage for future conflicts.

"Who... are you?" Ye Xishui's voice was cold as her gaze locked onto the gray light emanating from Xiao Yan. Her keen eyes discerned the extraordinary nature of the entity hiding within him. That purifying radiance, capable of eradicating all evil, made even someone of her caliber uneasy.

From behind Xiao Yan, a blurry figure slowly emerged, accompanied by a voice imbued with commanding authority:

"To grasp the sun and moon, to pluck the stars—there is no other like me in this world!"

The figure materialized into an elder clad in an ornate black robe adorned with golden runes, his appearance further contrasted by the white cloak draped over his shoulders. He wore the cloak's hood, obscuring parts of his face, and held a towering staff in his right hand—its length surpassing his height by over two meters.

The staff shimmered with three interwoven colors: black, white, and gold. Black symbolized pure death, gold represented holy light, and white resonated with the summoning power of necromancers. At the top of this extraordinary staff sat a massive crystal sculpted into the shape of a skull, exuding an ethereal aura. This was none other than Elecxis, the Undead Calamity and Holy Necromancer.

With a calm motion, Elecxis extended his hand, conjuring a small flame of gray-white fire. The ethereal flame danced eerily before Ye Xishui, casting long, wavering shadows.

"Daring to flaunt yourself before me, the Death Douluo? Truly courting death!" Ye Xishui snarled. Her eighth soul ring flared with blood-red light as she unleashed her strength. Black mist erupted from her body, swirling chaotically, revealing spectral forms with crimson eyes—countless vengeful spirits writhing like malicious phantoms in the night.

Even as Ye Xishui prepared her assault, Yao Lao's voice echoed in Xiao Yan's mind.

"She's controlling soul entities? This reeks of the Hall of Souls' forbidden techniques. Be careful; such power is insidious."

Elecxis, unfazed, smiled faintly. "Soul entities? How intriguing. Today, I shall cleanse this filth."

A radiant gray light flared from Elecxis's forehead as he raised his hand. His calm yet commanding voice resonated:

"Purify, the corruption within these souls!"

A pristine white aura burst forth, pure and radiant. Unlike typical attacks, this power wasn't destructive but a cleansing force. As the light expanded, the vengeful spirits screamed in agony, their blood-red glow dimming as they froze midair. One by one, the spirits were enveloped in white, their twisted forms slowly dissipating.

"Agh!" Ye Xishui screamed as the cleansing energy reached her. Black smoke billowed from her body as if the purity seared her very essence. Her shrieks pierced the night, echoing across the battlefield.

Necromancy Unleashed

"This… this is soul-annihilating power! You… are you a dark soul master as well?" Ye Xishui's voice quivered as she staggered backward. Her expression was one of utter disbelief as she gazed at Elecxis. Desperation flickered in her eyes as she clasped her hands together, and her martial soul transformed. A colossal golden phoenix emerged behind her, exuding an oppressive divine aura.

"I am called Elecxis… Undead Calamity, Holy Necromancer. You may flee now, but know this—your sins will not be forgiven," Elecxis declared, his voice fading as his energy waned. It was evident that even he was reaching his limit, and soon, he began to dissolve into a faint light.

"Long Xiaoyao! The situation has changed—grab Elder Xuan and retreat!" Ye Xishui's voice carried urgency as she shouted to her ally. Without waiting for a response, her figure turned into a streak of crimson light, vanishing into the night.

The Aftermath

Yao Lao, still controlling Xiao Yan's body, gazed at the retreating figures with narrowed eyes. "Teacher, are we letting them go?" Xiao Yan asked internally, his voice tinged with frustration.

"We've achieved our goal—the Soul-Devouring Knife is ours. Pursuing them would only invite unnecessary risk. Moreover…" Yao Lao hesitated briefly, his tone turning solemn. "Elecxis's power… If you can learn it, it will be a weapon against the Hall of Souls when we return to the Dou Qi Continent."

Xiao Yan clenched his fists, determination burning in his eyes. "Understood, Teacher. One day, I'll master such power."

The moonlight bathed the battlefield in an eerie tranquility as the figures dispersed into the shadows, each harboring their own ambitions for the future.
