RWBY: Oscar the gamer

Chapter 25: Failed Quest

Oscar then actived his Gamer systems as he was looking at the system he only, he looked at his new spell's.

[ New spells unlocked

Fire wall - Level 2 (Creates a wall of fire for the host)

Earth Spike - Level 2 (When the host slammed his hand down, it creates spikes on the earth, it doesn't have to be the ground as Spikes can be made anywhere even by then self to shoot at Emery's ]

Oscar paused, tapping his fingers lightly on the table as he browsed through his newly unlocked spells in the system.

"Fire Wall - Level 2..." he muttered, a thoughtful expression on his face. A wall of fire could be incredibly useful if he needed to defend himself or trap enemies, but it was also risky. It could spread uncontrollably if used poorly. He'd need to practice controlling the intensity.

His eyes moved to the second spell.

"Earth Spike - Level 2..." A slight grin tugged at his lips. This one could be extremely versatile, especially with the ability to summon spikes from any surface, not just the ground. Oscar had already used the basic version of Earth Spike in the last scuffles, but this new upgrade made the ability even more dangerous and creative. He could surprise opponents with spikes coming from walls, ceilings, or even from the air. The possibilities were endless.

The thought of being able to create an instant trap or barrage of spikes filled him with a sense of power, though he knew he'd need to refine his control over it. "But no need to rush," he said to himself. "I'll save these for when the time's right."

Oscar was just about to practice when a notification from the system caught his attention:

[ New Quest Unlocked: "Hide the White Mask"

He blinked at the screen, seeing the new quest description:

"After your recent actions, the world now knows you as the 'White Mask.' It's time to lay low and cover your tracks. Avoid detection for the next 48 hours. Rewards will be given for your discretion and patience." ]

Oscar sighed. "Great, just what I needed." He rubbed his temples. The situation was only getting more complicated. It wasn't just about fighting the White Fang or keeping his cover—now he had to deal with the consequences of being seen as some kind of vigilante. With his face on the news, avoiding attention was going to be nearly impossible. He'd have to be careful, especially with Penny, who seemed to have a way of getting involved in everything.

But then again, he couldn't let this opportunity go to waste either. Now that he had new powers, he had to practice, train, and prepare for what might come next.

"Guess it's time to hit the training ground again..." Oscar muttered, standing up from the chair.

As he made his way out of his dorm room, he felt a sense of determination welling up inside him. If he was going to hide, he would do it well. And while doing so, he'd make sure his new abilities were sharpened to perfection. He wasn't just going to sit by while things spiraled out of control.

Oscar decided that, for now, he would focus on honing his skills quietly. There was no telling what would happen next, but one thing was for sure—his journey had only just begun.

Oscar then looked at the quest again. "How hard can it be".

He regret that word after beacon end, because he went outside to get something from vale by the person of Glynda, and he saw a robbery, and not wanting to get the name for Beacon involved will

Crash, break, Crash

A criminal went out the window, as there Oscar was as the white mask in the store who sent the criminal flying out the window, as then he saw the system Notification

[Mission Failed: Hide the white mask

Penalty: The Cop's will be after you, Speed stats has been minus 10 for a temporary amount of time, the cops have 10% chance to catch, 30% of Penny catching you]

Oscar stared at the notification, his face draining of color.

"Well... that didn't last long," he muttered under his breath, rubbing the back of his neck in frustration.

It had only been a few minutes since he'd left Beacon to get a quick errand, and now he was in the middle of a robbery that he had absolutely no business being a part of. He had only acted out of instinct when he saw the criminal escaping the store, but now he was the one in trouble. The penalty from the system felt like a slap in the face—speed stats reduced, and now the cops, plus Penny, would be on his tail.

"Ugh, I didn't even get to make it out of Vale before screwing everything up," Oscar groaned.

The sound of sirens in the distance made his heart race. He wasn't sure how fast the cops would get here, but he had to move quickly. He glanced around, considering his options. Running would make him an obvious target, but staying here was a death sentence, especially if Penny showed up.

Oscar looked up at the rooftops. "Maybe I can get out of sight for a bit," he muttered, already thinking of how to use his abilities.

He quickly activated his [Stealth Skill] and darted into an alleyway, trying to stay out of view. The night had become a blur of chaos. He needed to think on his feet and stay one step ahead of whoever was chasing him, and that included Penny, who had proven herself more than capable of tracking him down.

His speed, now temporarily reduced, made him feel sluggish. He gritted his teeth. "I'm not going to make it easy for them."

Oscar dashed through alleyways, blending into the shadows as best as he could, but the reality of the situation was starting to sink in. The cops weren't his biggest concern, not right now anyway—Penny was. Her 30% chance to catch him felt almost like a guarantee, given her abilities and the sheer determination she seemed to carry. It wasn't long before he could hear the familiar sound of her thrusters in the distance.

Thrum, thrum, thrum.

Penny had already activated her jet boosters. Oscar took a sharp turn into another alley, hoping to lose her.

"Come on, come on!" Oscar muttered, his heart pounding in his chest. The system penalty was taking its toll—his movements felt slower, less precise. He could feel the effects of the reduced speed, and it was making evading his pursuers that much harder.

He spotted a nearby building with an open window. Oscar quickly scaled the wall, using his agility to make the climb as fast as possible. He needed to get to a high vantage point and plan his next move. But as he reached the top, he saw her.

Penny.

She was already there, floating above the ground with her boosters activated, her mechanical eyes scanning for him.

"Gotcha," Penny said in her usual cheerful tone, but there was a glint in her eyes that suggested she was taking this seriously.

Oscar's mind raced. He couldn't outrun her with his speed reduced, and there was no way he'd be able to take her on in a fight. But maybe, just maybe, he could use the environment to his advantage. He quickly activated his [Earth Spike - Level 2] and slammed his fist into the roof. Spikes shot up from the ground, creating a makeshift barrier between him and Penny.

Penny blinked, seemingly unfazed, but she adjusted her trajectory to avoid the spikes. "Clever. But you're not getting away that easily."

Oscar's heart sank. She was too fast, too skilled. With his current penalty and no way to outsmart her directly, it felt like he was running out of options.

"Alright," he muttered, preparing for a fight he didn't want to have. "Let's see how well I can do without speed."

Oscar then though to him self. "I don't want to do this but".

[ Host better to do then not ]

Oscar just sighed, he moved a bit do his Mask as Penny looked at him wondering what he was going to do, then he kissed her the Girl was taken back, didn't help that Oscar was not so tall, as she stepped back and Oscar was moving forward, as his lips moved away from her, as for Penny bee brain crashed her procecors working on over drive.

Oscar couldn't believe what he'd just done. His heart was still racing from the unexpected decision to kiss Penny, and the moment her processor went into overdrive, he knew he had a split second to escape. The situation had been tense, and despite the penalties from the system, he had to act on instinct. It wasn't like he planned it—his mind just went blank, and in that moment, it felt like the only way out.

As soon as Penny froze, clearly caught off guard, Oscar didn't hesitate. He bolted, his speed hindered but still fast enough to give him a head start. He darted into an alley and quickly changed out of his disguise, ensuring he blended in once again with the crowd. His heart was still pounding, but now, with the police nearby, he had to keep his cool. His [Loki's Lie] skill was his best shot at getting away without raising suspicion.

When an officer approached him, asking if he had seen anything unusual, Oscar shrugged nonchalantly. "Nah, didn't see anything. Just going about my business."

The officer didn't even bat an eye, nodding and continuing on. Oscar couldn't help but sigh in relief. His skill had saved him again.

Once he was sure the coast was clear, he walked casually away from the scene, a small grin forming on his face despite the chaos. "Well, that was one way to get out of that mess," he muttered to himself.

As he walked back toward Beacon, he couldn't shake the image of Penny's stunned expression. His lips had barely left hers before he was already running, but for a split second, he swore he could almost hear her systems rebooting from the shock. It was a gamble, and Oscar wasn't sure it was one he'd want to repeat anytime soon. But at least for now, he had managed to evade capture—at least from Penny, and most importantly, from the cops.

"Next time," Oscar thought, adjusting his mask and pulling his jacket tighter around him, "I'll try a less... complicated escape plan."

Ding!

[Penalty has been lifted host]

Ding!

[ New skill unlocked: Kissing - level 1 (it is what it is), would like to know more about this ]

Oscar just blinked seeing his new skill. "I didn't know this was even a function".

Oscar stared at the notification in disbelief. "Kissing - Level 1?" he thought, rubbing his eyes as though the message would disappear. But it remained there, flashing on his screen.

"What kind of system is this?" he wondered, his mind racing. He was used to unlocking combat skills, stealth abilities, and magic, but a kissing skill? That wasn't something he ever expected.

[ Would you like to know more about this skill? ]

He hesitated for a moment, glancing around to make sure no one was paying attention. With a sigh, he tapped the notification, curious if it would provide any useful information or just make things even more awkward.

[ Kissing - Level 1: A skill that increases your proficiency in the act of kissing. The host will experience improved techniques, better control, and subtle enhancements in the ability to evoke emotions in the target. This skill does not require experience or any special attributes to be effective, though it can be leveled up through practice. ]

Oscar froze. "So, I can get better at kissing?" he asked himself incredulously. He ran a hand through his hair, feeling embarrassed. "I guess... if it helps...?"

He could only imagine how this skill could evolve—what would a "Level 10" kissing skill even look like? He shuddered just thinking about it.

"Also," the system continued, "This skill can have an effect on your relationships and interactions, depending on the context. The host can use it to influence the emotional state of the target. Use with caution."

Oscar immediately regretted unlocking the skill. The memory of Penny's stunned expression flashed through his mind again. "Great, just what I need—an emotional influence skill added to my already chaotic life."

Despite his embarrassment, Oscar couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. "Well," he muttered under his breath, "At least I won't have to worry about being bad at that anymore."

As he continued his walk back to Beacon, Oscar knew one thing for sure—his life had just become even more complicated than before.
