Rise of the Rejected Deity from Chaos

Chapter 214: The Commander’s Relationship with Seiya

The Humanity Saviors' curiosity was piqued. They longed for more clarity, but dared not ask.

With Seiya's staff still pressed against the girl's chest, the blood from it already soaking the girl's cloth, the heart of all who knew what it was capable of, palpitated heavily.

It was as if, if they dared blink, the girl would erupt much like the others who were victims to the staff.

The girl's leg trembled miserably, threatening to give out but Seiya's gaze spelt something that couldn't be defied—causing her to stay standing with every ounce of strength left in her.

Seiya's voice sounded cold and sharp, edgy as he passed on his orders to the girl.

"Say nothing about me if you know nothing. Do not merely think when it is about me, be sure before you speak. I hate actions and words based on uncertainty. Should this ever happen again, I'll claim your head."

Seiya retracted his staff, drawing relief from everyone. The girl's stiffened muscles relaxed, collapsing her to the ground.

Some of the female villagers rushed over to her side to offer comfort, while the others bowed in gratitude for Seiya's mercy toward the girl.

Even though Seiya had freed her, the girl's nerves still shunned with nervous fear. Her hands trembled, shudders spiking up her spinal cord at intervals.

Her eyes were spread open, filled with both fear and disappointment. Either in herself or Seiya.

When she had seen that the one who came to give salvation to their village was no older than a child, a young boy who seemed even younger than her—she had thought she could get close to him.

Sure, he might've appeared scary, and sound scary, but she had concluded he wasn't a bad person. If anything, in her eyes, he seemed a kind soul.

From that day, she made it some sort of a mission to get closer to Seiya. She would prove to everyone that although he appears unapproachable, she was able to penetrate his walls and make a friend out of him.

But…not anymore. Everything she's thought up till now has just been crumbled. And by Seiya no less.

She began to see how she was wrong in her thoughts about him in every way. She was biting more than she can chew. Overstepping her boundaries.

He is a Lord, their Lord. One who she should respect and fear. He was no friend.

A droplet of tear hit the bloodied ground beneath the girl, then another, and another till her quiet sobs brushed softly against everyone's ears.

She was hurt, disappointed. She was afraid. And she was sorry.

Her cries sounded nothing but irritating to Seiya's ears, but he said nothing.

The commander and his crew watched in silence, their expressions a mixture of many emotions. Among those were confusion.

All of them except the commander and his assistant who had a little idea of the situation were confused.

Did Seiya manage to claim Kaeliyus, the Sword of the Severance?

In their minds though, they didn't really care if it was Kaeliyus who killed the girl. The situation made it a bit clear that Kaeliyus and Seiya worked hand in hand, which meant that Seiya still had a hand in their comrade's death.

For that, they'll forever seek to bring him to justice. They just couldn't understand why the commander was calm about it. There were many other ways to bring him to justice if all of them present lacked the strength.

But the commander doesn't seem to want to do that.

The commander quietly walked up to Seiya with the help of the captain, stopping in front of him.

"I'm sorry for doubting you," he said. Though those words were meant to comfort Seiya if by a little at least, it only spiked anger from his own people.

To the villagers, the commander turned and spoke. "I'll have my men clean up this mess, rest assured."

"We'll appreciate that," a man from the village responded with a nod.

"Before we take our leave," the commander turned back to Seiya. "Is it not better if you don't erect a barrier over the village again? The villagers would want to go back to their old lives. And I'm sure even the young ones would want to resume schooling. But with the barrier, their movements are limited."

"I can assign them guards to watch over them and protect them," he added.

While the commander awaited a response from Seiya, a villager took the liberty of answering.

"Commander, our movements aren't limited in any way," he responded. "It is true that the barrier doesn't let anyone in or out, but it's different with us."

The comamnder and his men's brows narrowed in question.

"How so?" He asked.

"Unlike everyone else, we possess the key to access the barrier," the man revealed.

A key?!! The humanity saviors chorused within themselves.

"There's a key?" The commander asked, his gaze flicking to Seiya, and back.

A while ago when Seiya had come out of the barrier during the chaos to escort the young villager inside, the commander had thought the boy was able to enter the barrier because Seiya did something.

But it wasn't so? Did the young boy possess the key at that time?

"If it isn't too much to ask, can I see the key in question?" The commander asked, and his men's attention was drawn—they were curious to see.

But the villagers went awkwardly silent, their gazes shifting to Seiya and back. They couldn't just give out such vital information.

Noting their unwillingness, the commander smiled warmly. "You do not have to bother yourselves. I've asked for too much."

"By now, the supply team must already be close by. Do go out to get the necessities when they arrive," he told them.

"Then, we'll take our leave."

The villagers bowed politely to him, and he reciprocated it by bowing back.

"Farewell my Lord. Do pay us a visit and dine with us sometime."

As Seiya turned to leave with the commander, his gaze fell on the girl. Their eyes met for a brief moment, causing the girl to whimper and hide away behind a female villager.

The commander broke away from the captain's support, walking up to Seiya.

"Shall we return now, son?" He asked, a big, bright smile plastered across his face.

Son?!!! Everyone who was hearing it for the first time echoed within themselves.
