Chapter 19: Mirzam
After the exchange, Sidius immediately leave the office. He did not want to stay any longer and draw suspicion from other professors, or get entangled further in Amelia's playful business banter.
He knew Amelia was capable of getting the business done since she can get the whereabout of elixir of life in a day.
'She works fast, I like her more and more as a business partner,' Sidius thought with a smile after leaving the office.
Contemplating about his plans, he put his training behind at the moment. With the memories of Den and his past life as 014, his learning pace would undoubtedly surpass that of anyone else.
His top priority was to find a suitable mystical arts and scout for potential subordinates that could shoulder another task as he needed helping hand.
Before heading to the city, he went first to the hospital where his sister was confined.
Sniffing the familar artificial fragrance of antiseptic contained in soaps and cleaners, he exhaled before walking through the familiar white hallway.
Suddenly, a nurse approached him anxiously.
"Sidius! I heard about what happened. I'm really sorry I couldn't save your sister in time," she apologized, bowing her head with remorse.
Sidius felt the urge to be angry, but he chose to understand her situation.
"It happened on sunday nurse Feli. It's not your fault," he replied, knowing that nurse Feli was in the church every sunday. "And thank you for taking care of my sister over the past five years," he replied with gratitude, trying to lift the somber mood.
His sister had been diagnosed with a rare disease called Parlaximia. It was a condition that caused patients to fall into a coma after eight years of being born caused by the mana inside their bodies to slowly devour them.
In his sister's case, she had been diagnosed and went into a coma after nine years, making her situation unique from other patients. This was a secret he must never reveal to everyone.
"I'm here to pay the bill," he said as he walked to the hospital counter with nurse Feli trailing him.
Opening his phone, he scanned the hospital code for the money transfer.
"The payment for this month has been confirmed," Nurse Feli announced, smiling warmly at Sidius.
After hearing the confirmation, Sidius walked into the room where his sister lay confined.
He sat on a chair near the bed and hold the left hand of his sister.
"Ruka, just hold on a little longer. Brother promises you that I will get you out of here and we'll travel to different places, okay?" he said with a smile, trying to hold back his tears. "Your brother is powerful now. In a month, I swear you will be cured," he declared with determination.
"I know I've said this to you before, but this time, it's true," Sidius said while having mixed emotion.
His part-time job could barely support the living expenses of his sister in the hospital, and even if he applied for another job, no one would accept a worthless talent like him.
But now, everything was taking a turn since he received the system.
"Just hold on a little longer, okay? I'm going out for a while. Brother always love you," he whispered, gently kissing his sister on the forehead before exiting the room.
He walked to train station and arrived at the bustling Immussillus City.
Sidius decided to take a stroll and scout for potential subordinates using his skill 'Inspect'.
He made up his mind not to return home until he found a talented individual worth recruiting.
The Immussillus City was filled with a variety of shops, hotels, and restaurants, as well as different trades happening in the shadows.
It alos had different chosens from various cities could be seen strolling around, drawn by the unique items offered in the monthly auctions of the black market.
'Sightseeing chosens is now my favorite leisure activity,' Sidius said with satisfaction, appreciating the usefulness of his skill.
As Sidius wandered through the streets, he observed chosens with different growth limits and traits, but none of them managed to catch his attention. He held high standards when it came to potential subordinates.
Three hours passed, and apart from noticing Vanessa getting into a black car with a man in his 30s, nothing had caught his attention so far.
'If she's planning something, it is most likely against her father. I might witness some drama in the future,' Sidius silently mused, commenting on what he had observed.
However, soon enough, he complained about himself.
'Being so picky sure is troublesome. But It can't be helped since they will become my subordinates,' he reasoned, determined to find someone truly exceptional to join his ranks.
Walking in a lazy manner, Sidius found himself into a narrow, dimly lit alley. There, he spotted a hooded man with a skinny frame, quietly eating a dry piece of bread.
Something about the man's demeanor exuded a sense of familiarity— it was the unmistakable aura of a fellow information broker, a role Sidius himself had once inhabited.
Seeing this, Sidius immediately used his skill 'Inspect' and his lips curved into a smile.
"I think I've found what I'm looking for."
During those years of searching for opportunities since he awakened as a chosen, Sidius became a roamer and take on several various jobs.
One of them was being an information broker, acquiring information that even the media was unaware of.
As an information broker, Sidius had his principles. He didn't use the information he obtained to blackmail anyone. He always ensured that both parties held up their end of the bargain.
Looking at the skinny man with skill 'Inspect', two different holigraphic panels appeared before him.
Curiosity piqued, he first looked at the smaller panel.
[Dangle Deceit(D rank) - A black dangling earring used to alter your name in chosen's skill 'Scan'.]
'Interesting,' he commented before looking into other panel.
