Chapter 8: Solgrand Empire.
After the white demon's shadow vanished from the border, the two remaining knights recounted the entire incident in detail.
Their voices trembled as they spoke, fingers curled tight on top of their thighs, as the fear at that time was still etched in their mind.
A commandant seated in the interrogation room asked. His voice cut through the tension in the air.
"Could you repeat that?"
They sat facing a fierce-looking middle-aged man in his early fifties. His massive frame was packed with trained muscles.
His brows knitted in wonder, not because of the squad's demise, but the name they had revealed.
"Yes, he called himself Elias, the youngest son of Duke Falcon."
The other knight nodded furiously as they forgot the presence of the father and daughter duo, who had come to their gate to cross into the Empire.
Their minds were chaotic, haunted by the images of Yuto before the boy disappeared.
The captain's sharp eyes narrowed. As someone who once served under the Duke Falcon's, the name struck a familiar chord in his ears.
Elias Falcon was the youngest of the three children from the Duke's family.
He recalled that the child had a strong inclination towards knowledge.
The man often saw the child alone reading books, but also never skipped his physical training.
That pure smile and his warm personality allowed him to get along quickly with the knight division in the house, including himself.
When the commandant was transferred a year ago, he lost communication with Elias and hoped that one day, he would meet Elias again.
However, he never expected that the reunion he hoped for would be something as grim and twisted as this.
His eyes glanced at a piece of paper in his hand, briefly reading the self-written report from the interrogation.
{Ten casualties, and most of them died with fatal wounds on their bodies. While others decapitated}
Only a true swordmaster or an opponent with overwhelming power could've done such a thing, wiping out an entire squad as easily as breathing.
The commandant knew that the squad in question had an attitude problem under that person's leadership.
At least, those people were trained knights.
But to think the result would turn out like this.
The paper in his hand crumpled from the pressure of his grip. He exhaled sharply and stood up.
"Thanks for your cooperation, rest until further notice."
The two knights stood up, and with pale faces, their voices were barely a whisper.
"Yes, Commander."
Without delay, the commander immediately left the interrogation room, closing the wooden door with a 'thud'.
He walked in a quiet and narrow corridor where stones flanked each side. His heavy footsteps bounced with eerie clarity.
In the silence, his mind wandered to his former master.
'Duke Falcon, what exactly happened?'
The commander was still in the dark about all this. But, looking at the timing, he could assume a few things.
First, he remembered that Young Master Elias should have awakened his talent by now.
Then, the talent he possessed must be related to combat, seeing how easily his troops were annihilated.
Lastly, what was the cause that turned the Duke Falcon's youngest son into a cold-blooded killer?
Or it was just some random strangers claiming to be Elias in disguise.
He didn't know.
Regardless, it was the commander's duty to report this incident.
Bam!
The door slammed open, causing the people and animals within to be rattled in panic.
"Commander! Can I help you with anything?"
One of the guards there, a young man in light attire, approached.
"Give me the fastest bird."
The commander's voice rang in the room, and the guard immediately rushed to fetch a Gale Hawk.
One of the fastest bird species in the realm that could be tamed.
The hawk tilted its head, seeing the commanders stick a piece of folded paper into a tube on its talon.
"Deliver this to Duke Falcon."
"Understood, sir. ...Pheew, fweeet!"
The guard whistled, communicating with the hawk in a language it understood.
"Screech!!"
With a burst of wind, the Gale hawk flapped its wings and soared into the skies.

Meanwhile, in the Edelvaris Kingdom. The golden glow of dusk cast a soft light over the towering white mansion of Duke Falcon.
Inside his private office, Duke Falcon sat upright, constantly moving the pen in his hand.
The scratch of ink and the faint smell of parchment filled the enclosed room until his brows twitched, sensing something outside.
He turned towards the closed window and spotted a Gale Hawk—a breed his unit cultivated exclusively to be a messenger.
"A message from the border?"
Duke Falcon stood up and pulled the window wide, letting in the warm evening breeze into the cold, lonely room.
He took the folded letter inside a small tube on the bird's leg. Unfurled it and then read its content in silence.
Suddenly, his pupils dilated, finding a familiar name written in it.
{...Elias?}
His thoughts faltered for a moment, for it wasn't the number of casualties, but the one who had caused the incident on the border.
To think it was his youngest son—the one he exiled from family a week ago.
"How is this possible?"
The words escape his lips in a faint whisper, full of doubt and questions.
However, after taking a deep breath. Duke Falcon walked to his desk and brought the paper closer to the candle flame.
The small flame roared to life, devouring the paper until nothing remained but ash that dispersed by the wind.
"What a joke. There's no way that worthless brat could do anything with his talent."
Duke Falcon scoffed at the report and chased the hawk away before resuming his work as if nothing had happened.
Even to the end, the man refused to see the truth before him. To him, Elias was still nothing but a defective product, not worthy of his attention.
.....
But, far away in another land, thanks to Duke's foolishness, Yuto managed to evade his fate for a while and enjoyed his peaceful trip.
While sitting on the coachman's seat, Yuto's eyes never tired of memorizing the landscape and every shift in the environment.
Unlike the Kingdom, the Empire's land was thick with dense mana scattered in the atmosphere.
Dense forests radiated with feral energy, full of monsters and beasts lurking at all times in shadows.
Thanks to Gonzo's memories and decision in choosing the path. They managed to avoid confrontation with monsters that could slow down their progress.
However, not every obstacle could be overcome.
"We'll be arriving in the capital soon."
"Stop!"
Yuto cut off the man beside him and jumped from the carriage to confront the presence that had tailed them in silence.
"Come out!"
His voice boomed like thunder, enhanced by the Qi coursing through his body.
The grass rustled, and several dark shadows revealed themselves.
'One, two, three, ...seven.'
Four-legged beasts emerged covered in grey fur. Their elongated mouths revealed sharp teeth while drooling.
"Be careful, Savior, they're a pack of Ash Wolves."
Yuto gripped the sword on his left waist. His blue eyes locked onto the largest beast among the others.
'That must be the Alpha!'
"Grrr, Awooo!"
As the Alpha howled, Yuto channelled his Qi through his major meridians and kicked the ground.
In a blink, he dashed past the wolf formation and stood in front of the Alpha.
"Yo!"
A silver gleam flashed as the Alpha's body stiffened before its head split in two, spraying blue blood.
He swung his silver sword to mark the ground with a line of gore from blood.
"Next!"
After losing its leader, Yuto easily slaughtered the pack, making his first battle with monsters feel anticlimactic.
"Now, what should I do with all these bodies?"
"I'll handle it."
Yuto jerked his face to the side, startled to see Gonzo suddenly beside him.
The man ignored Yuto's sharp gaze and patted the body of the wolf beneath him, and it disappeared.
Yuto squinted, noticing a faint glow from the ring on Gonzo's finger before the light faded.
The man repeated the same process with the other wolves, and they continued their journey.
When the sun shifted slightly to the west, Yuto's eyes widened to see an ancient and majestic city in the distance.
"Savior, welcome to the Solgrand Empire."
After days of journey with slight upheaval, Yuto finally reached his destination, a land where he would hone his power and rise to the pinnacle.
