Reborn in JJK with Schrödinger’s Power

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: A Plan in Motion

Yuu woke up early the next day, the sunlight spilling through the curtains. For a moment, he stayed in bed, staring at the ceiling. It still felt surreal. A day ago, he was just another guy with a boring life, and now he was here—in a world filled with curses and sorcerers.

His thoughts wandered as he swung his legs off the bed. "So, I really get a fresh start," he muttered. A slow grin crept onto his face. "What do I even do with it?"

Instead of rushing outside, Yuu decided to stay in his room. He stretched his arms and glanced around, taking in the neatness of the space. It wasn't overly fancy, but it felt... lived in. On the desk, a stack of books caught his attention—school textbooks, notebooks, and what looked like a journal. He walked over and flipped open the journal, finding it blank.

"Guess I'll make this my notes," he said, chuckling to himself. "Not that I'm much of a student."

As he paced the room, his mind began to churn. "So, I've got a year. That's enough time to figure out this power, right? But where do I even start?" His eyes fell on a small, smooth pebble sitting on the windowsill. It was as good a tool as any.

Sitting cross-legged on the floor, Yuu held the pebble in his hand and closed his eyes. That hum of energy from before was still there, faint but persistent, like an untapped reservoir. He concentrated, willing the energy to flow into the pebble. At first, nothing happened. But then he felt it—a slight vibration against his palm.

Opening his eyes, he saw the pebble wobbling slightly. "Okay, that's something," he muttered, his lips curling into a smile. "Let's see what else you can do."

Hours passed as he experimented. The pebble hovered an inch above his hand at one point but dropped immediately when he lost focus. He tried rolling it across the floor, making it vibrate, and even attempted to shatter it, though that ended in frustration. Every time he thought he had a handle on the energy, it slipped away, leaving him groaning in annoyance.

He leaned back against the wall, his legs stretched out in front of him. "This isn't just about trying harder," he muttered, turning the pebble over in his hand. "Maybe it's about working smarter?"

Yuu closed his eyes again, trying to imagine the energy as something tangible—a thread he could pull, a lever he could switch. The hum grew louder in his mind, and for a brief moment, the pebble floated higher than before. His eyes snapped open, and the pebble clattered to the ground.

"Alright, progress!" he exclaimed, though the excitement quickly faded as his stomach growled, breaking his concentration.

A knock on the door snapped him out of his thoughts. "Yuu! Are you coming down for lunch, or do I have to drag you?" Yuji's voice was muffled but unmistakable.

Yuu sat up, chuckling. "I'm coming, I'm coming! Give me a minute!"

He pocketed the pebble and stood, taking one last look around the room. The slight progress he'd made with his power was encouraging, but it was nowhere near enough. Still, he felt a spark of hope. If he could do this much in a few hours, what could he accomplish in a year?

As he headed downstairs, the smell of miso soup and grilled fish filled the air. Yuji was already at the table, eagerly digging into his food, while their grandfather sipped tea with a raised brow. "Took you long enough," the old man grumbled.

"Had to work up an appetite," Yuu replied with a grin, sitting across from Yuji.

The lunch passed in comfortable chatter, mostly Yuji rambling about something he'd seen on TV while Yuu nodded along. But even as he ate, his mind kept drifting back to the pebble and the faint hum of energy. This world wasn't going to wait for him to catch up, and he knew it.

"You're really quiet today," Yuji said suddenly, breaking Yuu's train of thought. He leaned forward, his chopsticks hovering midair. "You sure you're okay?"

Yuu hesitated, meeting his brother's gaze. Yuji's concern was genuine, and it tugged at him. "Yeah," he said finally. "Just figuring some stuff out. Nothing you need to worry about."

Yuji frowned but let it go. "Alright. Just don't overthink everything. You do that too much."

Yuu smirked, reaching over to ruffle Yuji's hair. "Look at you, all wise. Maybe I should start listening to you more."

Yuji swatted his hand away, laughing. "Yeah, you should. I'm smarter than I look."

Their grandfather snorted from his seat. "You're both fools if you ask me. Eat your food and stop talking nonsense."

The three of them burst into laughter, and for a brief moment, the weight on Yuu's shoulders lightened. This world might be dangerous, but moments like these reminded him why he had to make the most of it.

As Yuu returned to his room later that afternoon, he sat down by the window, the pebble once again in his hand. He turned it over, the faint hum of energy returning as he focused. "One year," he murmured. "Plenty of time to figure this out."

He closed his eyes, letting his mind settle. For now, he would take it one step at a time. The future could wa
