Chapter 2: New Reckoning
I tried calling for help, but all I could
come out were high-pitched screaming and crying. I was shocked at first why my
voice wasn't the same, but that wasn't the most important issue at hand. Out of
nowhere, a green aura illuminated the entire room. "Where is the switch again?"
a raspy voice said. The bright light took away my sight. I could hear rummaging
that lasted quite a bit. "This new tech is so annoying!" he shouted. Negative
thoughts flooded my mind. "Who is this person? What am I going to do? What does
he even want from me." After a few minutes of searching, he finally found what
he was looking For.
The bright aura dimmed down. Soon the
darkness instantly dispersed. I took a look around the room. In one of the
corners of the room, I saw a tall figure backing me. He was so tall and muscular. When he turned around and slowly approached me. His face tensed up, dark eyes stared into my soul, and veins on both of his hands popped up looking like
they were going to burst. I tried begging for my life, but all that came out
was screaming. He reached his arms slowly towards my face causing me to think
it was over for me.
He placed one of his fingers on my lip. His
fingers were smooth and cold. "What is wrong lil guy?" He started to sing a
lullaby. His monotone voice was soothing. After around a couple of minutes of
singing, I stopped crying as I felt safe and secure. "You're such a cute baby
when you don't cry." I felt so at ease
that it took a bit of time for his statement to register. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I'M
A BABY?!" I thought to myself. Is this some messed-up dream is what I thought
of inside my head.
I raised my arm slightly and that was the
confirmation I needed. I pinched myself multiple times, but I still couldn't
wake up. That is when the thought came to mind. "Is it true that I got reincarnated? If so why couldn't I just been returned to my home? Why do I have to be in this strange world?" I kept pondering relentlessly until I came to a conclusion. "I don't understand what's happening right now, but this place has to be the doing of the person in that bright aura.
Time passed, and I grew up from being a baby
to a four-year-old. During that time, I learned that the world in which I live is
currently called Freither. It is an ancient kingdom that relies on magic. My
father is an adventurer, and his magic revolves around support. If you're
asking, "Where is your mom?", my answer to that is simple. She is also an
adventurer but she works for the king of our land, Questria. It is a huge
kingdom where multiple races are allowed to enter. As a matter of fact, my mom
is a demon.
Right now, I'm going to primary school for
the first time, and I'm excited to learn magic. Maybe the person who sent me
here would talk to me again. "Kaiser! Are you ready?" "Yes please." Oh yeah, I
forgot to tell you. That's my new name. Kaiser Strauss. I ran from my bedroom
towards the kitchen. "I'm so proud that you got accepted into Freither's Magic
Primary School. You and your best friend Darwin," he told me as I was eating. "Don't
you worry, Dad? I'll show you that I can become as good as you and Mom!" I
shouted after finishing my breakfast. "Well, that's a huge leap, are you sure
that's what you want to do?"
I couldn't hesitate at all. This time, I
won't waste my life. "I'll show both you and Mom that I'll be strong. I'll
become the strongest!" My dad's facial expression changed from a state of
anxiety to one of joy and relief. "Alright champ! Let's get to school!" We
drove in a vehicle made from some Magicule Steel, Magisteel for short. All of
the crops that my father had planted were a great view to look at while my
father drove.
Soon, I was at school. Despite the building
being centuries old, it was in pristine condition. "We're here Kaiser." Suddenly
I began thinking of when I first started Primary School in my previous life. Soon
droplets of tears started to escape from me. "What's wrong Kaiser?" my dad asked
before patting my head. I took my hand and started wiping the tears off of my face.
"I can't let my dad know that I'm nervous," I thought. "It's just tears of joy Dad.
Let's head inside."
Right when we were about to enter the building,
I felt a tug on my right shoulder. I glance behind me only to see my best friend
Darwin Peterson. "Hi, Kai!" "Hi, Dar!" We began our conversation which distracted
us from school. "Hi, Mr. Strauss," a tall man said after picking us both up with
ease. "It's been a while, Mr. Peterson. Haven't seen you since you retired from our
guild." "I know, right? I have been in the science department but I still keep in
shape just in case something bad was to happen." "Fair enough." After they both
conversed for a while a notification was spread all throughout the entire school.
"Today is the first day of school. For all of
those children who are new students of this school, make your way to the library.
Our staff will use a crystal ball to reveal what type of magic you have. After that,
we will be putting you in classes and then we can start the day. With that being
said, I wish you all a great day at school. Goodbye." It was time to start showing
the world that I can be great. If only Dad was here now, I would be making him proud.
Just wait, world, I'm going to be the greatest there ever was.
