Sato and his Pokémon had breakfast and handled the matter of concealing the Shiny Wingull.
By the time everything was sorted, it was past 7:00 AM, and the fifth round of the tournament was imminent.
At 7:21 AM, Sato arrived at the competition venue. By this stage, only 13 contestants remained in the St. Louis Pokémon Tournament, with just three rounds left to determine the champion.
Naturally, as the tournament entered its final phase, the crowd was even larger than the previous day.
The venue was packed with people, a sea of heads and a cacophony of voices.
As one of the remaining contestants in the fifth round, Sato's entrance immediately drew attention, and many spectators recognized him. Some, having become his fans, began cheering loudly.
However, compared to the support Sato received, his opponent for the day, Meiko, had an overwhelmingly larger fan base.
This wasn't surprising. Not only was Meiko a skilled trainer, but she was also stunningly beautiful. At around twenty years old, she was one of the only two female trainers left in the competition.
Her youthful charm captivated many male spectators.
When Meiko entered the arena, it was as though a celebrity had arrived. The waves of cheers and applause for her filled the entire venue, drowning out the earlier reception for Sato.
The difference was night and day.
"Looks like today's opponent is quite popular. Seems I'm playing the villain this time," Sato remarked with a faint smile as he watched Meiko make her way through the throngs of fans.
Standing calmly on the battlefield platform, his expression remained neutral as he silently waited for his opponent.
Before long, Meiko also ascended the platform and stood opposite Sato.
The referee, who had been waiting in the wings, appeared on the large screen and immediately initiated the match by spinning the battlefield roulette.
A few seconds later, the roulette stopped, displaying the results: Water Field, with Meiko as the first to release her Pokémon.
"Just as the intel that woman gave me suggested, this guy has incredible composure. Even under so many watchful eyes, his expression hasn't changed. You've got this, Meiko. You can't lose this match—otherwise, the boss will punish you again," Meiko thought, frowning briefly as she looked at Sato's calm demeanor.
Recalling the detailed information she had received the previous night, her confidence grew, and her frown disappeared.
"Seadra, prepare for battle!"
Once the ordinary battlefield transformed into the Water Field, the referee gave the signal to start the match.
Meiko immediately released her first Pokémon, one she had prepared in anticipation of drawing the Water Field.
In a flash of white light, a well-developed Seadra emerged from the PokéBall, landing gracefully in the expansive water area of the battlefield.
The Seadra stood nearly 1.5 meters tall, its fierce eyes reflecting its aggressive personality. Its elongated snout stretched forward, and its back was lined with numerous sharp spines, both long and short.
The tips of these spines shimmered with a deep purple hue, giving the impression that the Seadra bore a pair of wings.
As soon as Seadra appeared, a subtle blue glint flickered in Sato's eyes. Activating his system's analysis, he quickly assessed Seadra's stats:
Pokémon: Seadra
Level: 33
Type: Water
Ability: Poison Point
Gender: Male
Known Moves: Water Gun, Bubble, Smokescreen, Leer, Twister, Bubble Beam, Focus Energy, Brine, Outrage (Egg Move), Dragon Pulse (Tutor), Ice Beam (TM), Protect (TM), Waterfall (TM)
"Impressive! This Seadra actually inherited Outrage, a signature Dragon-type move. Its parents must be remarkable, likely high-level Dragon Pokémon. Yet another Pokémon with exceptional talent. Once it evolves into Kingdra, its strength will skyrocket," Sato thought, staring at Seadra's stats.
He couldn't help but envy Meiko upon seeing Outrage listed among its inherited moves.
Without a doubt, this Seadra carried noble Dragon blood, likely purebred. Its potential was limitless.
"Come on out, Golbat. I'll leave this match to you," Sato declared.
After briefly formulating his strategy, Sato confidently sent out his Golbat. The Pokémon emerged from its PokéBall, flapping its broad wings with powerful intensity.
As usual, it created a gust of wind as a warm-up, stirring excitement among the audience.
Some spectators, witnessing Golbat in battle for the first time, let out screams of astonishment. Among them was Meiko, dressed in a flowing white dress.
Her startled reaction, accompanied by the sound of her fans swallowing nervously, made her supporters cheer even louder.
"Teach him a lesson, Seadra! Use Water Gun!" Meiko commanded.
The referee had just signaled the start of the battle when a flustered Meiko, cheeks flushed with anger, directed Seadra to attack.
Sensing its trainer's frustration, Seadra, with its already surly demeanor, grew even more aggressive. From its long snout, it fired Water Gun blasts at rapid speed, each like a bullet cutting through the air.
Golbat, baffled by Meiko and Seadra's sudden hostility, nevertheless reacted swiftly. Its eyes glowed a faint green, and three small white whirlwinds appeared in front of it in a triangular formation, serving as a barrier.
Though Seadra's Water Gun was fast, its power was limited. The projectiles were neutralized by Golbat's defensive whirlwinds, none managing to reach their target.
As Seadra's barrage ended, Golbat flapped its wings powerfully again. The three smaller whirlwinds merged into a massive one, nearly four meters tall, driven by a gale akin to a Category 9 windstorm.
The towering whirlwind surged downward, aiming directly at Seadra with a ferocious intensity.
Faced with the large white whirlwind, Seadra hesitated to confront it head-on and quickly dove underwater to evade.
When the whirlwind struck the water's surface, it absorbed large volumes of water, transforming into a swirling waterspout.
However, Seadra managed to navigate the churning water with remarkable agility, avoiding being caught. The waterspout, laden with water, became increasingly unstable. Within moments, it began to collapse.
"Now's our chance! Use Waterfall through the waterspout!"
Seeing the waterspout destabilize, Meiko's expression sharpened. Her tone was calm and calculated as she commanded Seadra to strike.
The moment her words left her lips, Seadra, under the astonished gaze of the crowd, burst from the water. Its body was enveloped in a torrent of water as it surged up the collapsing waterspout, climbing to its peak in an instant.
At the same time, an icy blue beam fired from Seadra's elongated snout, hurtling toward Golbat, who was hovering just five meters away.
