Chapter 308: Chapter 308
"Right now, the key isn't figuring out their purpose; it's about how we, the Uzumaki clan, can find Lord Madara and seek his help!"
The Uzumaki ninja who brought the news stepped forward, interrupting the discussions.
Ever since he heard the intelligence about Madara and Izuna, he had been pondering this possibility. When Uzumaki Ashina signed the friendship treaty with Senju Hashirama, Madara had not yet left Konoha and was present as a witness.
The Uzumaki ninja believed that, given Madara's relationship with Hashirama and his formidable strength, he could be their savior.
However, this was pure wishful thinking.
Madara had abandoned even the Uchiha clan, let alone the Uzumaki clan, with whom he shared no real connection.
Ashina remained silent throughout the meeting, his heart heavy since learning that Madara and Izuna were alive.
His unease wasn't rooted in hope or anticipation—it was fear.
Hashirama had confided in him on his deathbed about the betrayal at the Valley of the End. Killing his closest friend for the sake of the village had weighed heavily on Hashirama's heart until his final moments.
Ashina feared that Madara's return, alongside his supposedly deceased brother, was for revenge. Their collection of tailed beasts seemed to support this, potentially part of a grand plan to unify the ninja world under his rule—a vision Hashirama had once opposed.
While his clansmen debated seeking Madara's aid, Ashina's mind was in turmoil.
He knew the Uzumaki clan was a powerful force and believed Madara might accept their allegiance.
However, aligning with Madara could mean becoming Konoha's enemy.
As Konoha's sibling village, Ashina couldn't stomach the idea of standing against them. He glanced at the stack of unsent requests for aid on the table, their delivery obstructed by various forces.
"Let's wait a few more days," he muttered with a sigh.
...
The Land of Water, Border Town
"It's strange how it's always snowing here, even in the summer," Izuna remarked, holding out his hand to catch a snowflake. "Brother, why are we here?"
"Dark mentioned recruiting people for Akatsuki. Since we're in the Land of Water, I thought we could bring back a gift," Madara replied cryptically.
Having lived through the Warring States Period, Madara knew that many ninja clans had refused to join major villages, often for unique reasons.
"Oh? I get it now. You're after the Yuki clan, aren't you?" Izuna deduced, recalling stories he'd heard about this reclusive clan.
Madara nodded. "Let's hope the Mist Village hasn't wiped them out."
Typically, major ninja villages wouldn't tolerate independent clans within their borders. These clans were either absorbed or eradicated.
The Yuki clan, known for their peaceful nature and powerful ice-based kekkei genkai, had avoided joining Kirigakure, hoping to stay uninvolved in conflicts.
"They're probably long gone," Izuna remarked, noticing the wary, resentful glances from the townsfolk around them.
Fear, hatred, and other negative emotions practically radiated from the townspeople.
"They've clearly been victims of war—or perhaps collateral damage in conflicts involving bloodline clans," Madara observed.
Just as Madara's hope began to wane, Izuna tugged his arm and pointed toward a nearby bridge.
Beneath it stood a pair of black-haired siblings. The girl exhaled frosty breaths, tinged with tiny ice crystals—a telltale sign of the Yuki clan's kekkei genkai.
The boy clutched his sister protectively, glancing around in panic like a frightened deer.
"Found them," Madara said with a grin, striding toward the siblings.
Izuna, less patient than his brother, used a body flicker to appear beside the children.
"Hey," he said, his tone condescending as he looked down at them.
"Ah!" the boy yelped, pulling his sister closer. "L-Lord Ninja, is there something you need?"
"You're from the Yuki clan, aren't you?" Izuna asked bluntly.
"Izuna," Madara chided, placing a hand on his brother's shoulder.
The boy's face paled, and he knelt, pressing his forehead to the ground. "Please, spare my sister. I beg you."
Madara remained silent, his gaze lifting to the gray, snow-filled sky.
This is what you wanted to change, isn't it? he thought, reflecting on his brother's dream for a better world.
"Come with us," Izuna said abruptly, lifting the siblings effortlessly. His haughty demeanor had vanished, replaced by quiet resolve.
The boy and girl stared at him, bewildered.
"If you don't want to come, you're welcome to stay here and die," Izuna added with a sharp edge to his voice.
The boy hesitated before clenching his fists and nodding. "We'll come with you. Please, grant us names, Lord Ninja."
Madara turned to his brother, delegating the task.
"You'll be called 'Kū' (Sky), and your sister will be 'Shiro' (White)," Izuna decided.
"Thank you," the boy said, bowing deeply.
Half an hour later, Madara and Izuna stood before the remnants of the Yuki clan—seven or eight children, none of whom were trained ninjas.
"This is all that's left of your clan?" Izuna asked, astonished.
"Yes, my lords," one of the children replied.
Madara sighed. The Yuki clan had once been a small but respectable ninja clan. Now, they were reduced to a handful of orphans.
"Let's go," Madara said, his tone calm yet resolute.
Though disappointed, he was willing to nurture these children. After all, he was already training his Pokémon—adding a few human students wouldn't be much trouble.
As the group departed, the Yuki clan vanished from the Land of Water, leaving no trace behind.
On the Kaguya Clan
"I've heard the Kaguya clan in the Mist Village is planning a rebellion. Should we..." Izuna began.
"No," Madara interrupted flatly.
The Kaguya clan's madness was well-known, their behavior earning them a reputation even among the Uchiha.
"They use their own clan members as shields. I have no use for lunatics like that," Madara said, disdain evident in his voice.
Izuna shrugged. "Fair enough. If we did bring them back, Dak would probably kill them anyway."
