Chapter 130: Drill Pokémon

[Johto Region, Next Day, Route 37]

Waking up early, our team made its way to Route 37. I was peddling peacefully, vibing, battling any trainers or wild Pokémon in my way with my reserve team.

The reserve team for my Johto Region run that relied upon Sneasel and Heracross, my two newcomers I've caught and befriended. Not only that, but I've been conditioning my team as we progress through the routes.

The idea of visiting Violet City crossed my mind to earn the Zephyr Badge, but I shook my head and decided to head to Morty's Gym first. I could use Skarmory using Fly to get my Gym Challenge from Falkner later.

Pikachu was chilling over my shoulder, Eevee slept in my hoodie as usual, and Celebi took its seat on my other shoulder. I'm simply impressed that, using its Psychic abilities, it can refract light, making it seem invisible briefly, along with some mental suggestions to make people not notice it.

But as we rode on my Mach Bike, we paused to see a commotion occurring. I see a commotion happening at a distance.

Upon seeing a TV van, they looked at the large tree ahead of the road that connects to Route 36, which was blocked. I blinked in surprise as I heard a familiar sound coming from behind me, "What's the big idea?! Who put that stupid tree there?!"

Turning my head around, along with my Pokémon, I saw the commotion and saw Whitney strangling the news crew member, yelling, "I had this race won!! Whose fault is this?!"

Stopping on his scooter was Gold as he looked perplexed by the situation, "What the –?! IS that a tree?!"

Seeing that their attention was focused on the tree, I decided to greet Gold casually, getting his attention, "Oi! Is that you, Gold boy?"

Turning his attention to me, he looked a bit surprised as he yelled, "Ah! The Side Character!"

I felt my eyebrow twitch at that as I reintroduced myself to this hyperactive kid, "No. I'm Azure Sky, remember?"

But he dared to casually shrug his shoulders. The sheer blindness of this kid…

While we were talking, Whitney was too angry as she commanded Mil Mil her Miltank to use Rollout on the tree to little effect. She looked startled as she asked in disbelief, "W-What kind of tree is this?!"

Gold, who wants to prove he's better than her, ordered his Pokémon Exbo to attack, "I'll show you how it's done!! Exbo – Ember!!"

*Fooom*

But to his surprise, his Exbo used Ember on the tree, also doing little. Gold also asked in a tone of disbelief, "Like you said… w-what kind of tree is this?! How am I supposed to win with that thing in the way?!"

Gold sends out Aibo, Sunbo, and Polibo to attack the tree next. However, the tree only reacts to Polibo's water attack.

Whitney finally notices me as she blinks, somewhat surprised, as she asks, "Wait… the heck? I thought you'd be long gone, Azure!"

Hearing her, I curtly smiled as I saluted with two fingers at her as I explained myself, "Sup, Whitney! I had the chance to visit the Bug Catching Contest, participating and making a new friend along the way. How – "

Before I could finish my words, footsteps stopped my words as Gold yelled confused, "Are those… footsteps!! Now what?!"

Suddenly, a Rhydon appears and Whitney attacks it using Mil Mil in a reckless tone, "Don't just stand there idiot!! That's Rhydon!! It'll crush you without batting an eye!! We battle it first!!"

Just as Whitney's Miltank attacked with little effect, I saw its eyes turn to the Trainer. Then what it did next shocked me, seeing its exact reaction was to kidnap Whitney immediately, encountering Miltank.

With little effect, Rhydon then kidnaps Whitney. DJ Mary pleads for someone to save Whitney. The race is called off, and all vans are sent after Rhydon.

I followed it soon with my Mach Bike. Not only that, but I checked my Arc Phone, seeing if what I saw was exactly what I thought.

[Rhydon the Drill Pokémon. Rhydon is a physically powerful Pokémon. It is recorded as being able to topple buildings with a sweeping blow of its tail, and its horn can bore through solid rock and shatter diamonds. Rhydon sharpens its horns by clashing them together. Its armor-like hide protects it from heat and physical blows.

It is stated to be capable of passing unscathed through streams of magma (3,600 degrees Fahrenheit) and withstanding a direct blow from a cannonball without being harmed. However, because of this tough hide, it is insensitive.

Despite its well-developed brain, it can be forgetful. Rhydon lives in rough terrain, like as caves or on top of mountains. Due to its Evolution allowing Rhydon to walk on two legs, it can expand its territory to more than a Rhyhorn's original habitat limit.]

So, it is what I thought… this Rhydon is highly intelligent. Not only that, but with a glance, I noticed it had the Brave Nature, making it extremely bulky.

This Rhydon is worth capturing in my eyes as it is not a normal Wild Pokémon of the Rhyhorn species that would be able to formulate this plan. Kidnapping the trainer from the Pokémon, leaving it confused, along with running away from a group of humans, leveraging Whitney as a hostage, was a strategic way of thinking.

It had to be brave to pull this off, not only that, but I also have a Protector Held Item needed for its evolution. Depending on the ability of Rhydon, it will be a powerful ally to have in the Sinnoh Region team.

Plus, he'll do for the Tank role just fine in my Sinnoh Team. Smirking at this, I rushed forward ahead as the Rhydon carried Whitney.

The second it glanced at me made me even more greedy, wanting to capture it! The second it met Pikachu, Celebi, and Eevee, its eyes dilated as it began to run even faster away from us.

Grinning at this, I didn't allow such a Pokémon to escape from me. But for safety, I recalled Celebi because of the news crew. I gave a command to my Pokémon as I ordered, "Pikachu Surf. Eevee Strong Style Water Gun."

*Swooosh*

Both bounced off my head and shoulder as they rushed towards the Rhydon at surprising speed. Both unleashed a powerful Surf and Water Gun attack, dousing the Rhydon as it cried in pain, "Rhyyy!!!"

*THUD*

Rhydon then slumped down, letting go of Whitney in the process, "Aieeee!!!"

*Swooosh*

Quickly jumping off my Mach Bike and activating my Running Shoes, I managed to catch her before she fell. But in doing so, I crash-landed on the ground as I asked, "Ow! You okay there – Argh!"

As we crash landed down Whitney's ass sat on my face. They're surprisingly soft.

My eyes widened as Whitney hurriedly got up, blushing red as she stuttered, "Wha-Wha-What was that! You could've gotten yourself hurt!!"

Seeing her blush-red face, I replied, feeling heaven, "Nice ass."

Her face turned beet red as she cried out, her face flushing red with metaphorical steam coming off her head, "Y-Y-You… pervert!"

*THUD*

Before she could argue any further, the Rhydon stood up again. Standing on one foot and taking a knee down growled at me, "Grrr…"

Oh? Even taking a hit from both Eevee and Pikachu using Water-type moves, had the guts to stand. My eagerness to get this Rhydon skyrocketed, realizing it had the move Endure.

Smiling at this with no reservation about my safety, as I said to Rhydon holding the Protector in my hand, "Rhydon… I find you worthy to be my Pokémon. If you fight by our side, you'll be able to evolve further. Your intelligence and endurance against my Pokémon deemed you one to rise above your kind."

Rhydon paused, seeing the Protector. I placed my hand on it using Viridian Force as I said bluntly, our eyes meeting each other, "Will you walk with me and fight with me?"

Rhydon looked surprised as his wounds were being healed. Whitney and the news crew also stared wide-eyed, seeing the wounds from earlier healed, as this was a bit draining for me.

But I focused my attention on Rhydon, seeing its memories of enduring hardship and being born intelligent, learning from its surroundings. Seeing its past learning to walk, gathering fruit, leaning forward on its legs, and safely observing human participating in Pokémon Battles, picking up their tactics.

Rhydon had spent years in the wild, growing from a Rhyhorn into the formidable Pokémon it was today, enduring countless battles and hardships along the way. It lived battling every day of its life as I read its thoughts, 'Survival of the fittest. Strength is everything. The strong follow the stronger.'

Rhydon let out a low growl and nodded slightly, showing its approval without hesitation, "Rhy… Rhydon."

Smiling at this, revealing a Poke Ball, I said, making a simple promise, rubbing its hard hide, amazing but its roughness, "Good. I'll teach you moves better suited to your strengths, develop a more effective training regimen, and adjust your diet accordingly. Now then… welcome Rhydon to the team."

Rhydon nodded as it tapped its horn on my Poke Ball, which I'm holding. The red beam of light encased it as Rhydon was caught inside without resistance. The Poke Ball didn't even move once as it clicked.

*BON*

Capturing the Rhydon, I smirked, seeing the dumbfounded expressions of the people present. I took out my Arc Phone to read my new Pokémon status.

Those are good moves, all along with the Egg Move Metal Burst. Having Rhydon be my future tank for the Sinnoh Region just became a solid choice.

Putting Rhydon on my Pokémon Belt, DJ Mary soon approached me as Gold finally arrived, looking dumbfounded as she asked excitedly, "This is your news, gal, DJ Mary with an important scoop with the Champion of Kanto and Johto! Azure Sky, the Ninth Pokémon League Champion! Can you please tell us how you managed to subdue the Wild Rhydon as you did!!"

Hearing her, I simply moved passed her, not batting an eye as I said calmly, "Nah. I just talked to it."

That seemed to stun her as I moved towards Whitney as she asked shyly, "W-W-What do you want baka!"

Taking her hand, her face heats up as I ask bluntly, seeing the wound on her arm when my Rhydon grabbed her, "To treat you. Although Rhydon was Wild when he kidnapped you as its Trainer, it's now my responsibility to make up for any mistake my Pokémon has made. Just a simple bandage wound and disinfectant should help with any wounds, but I suggest going to a doctor to see about your arm."

Thank god in Alola, I took a Nurse Joy course for Pokémon and people. Whitney blushed, seeing as I treated her, uttering 'Baka' in whispers.

Heh. I get a feel for her ass sitting on my face while capturing a future tank for my Sinnoh Team. Best capture ever.
