Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Battle with Sabrina

"Ralts, use Double Team!"

As soon as Ron's voice echoed, multiple Ralts appeared on the battlefield.

"Torchic, use Ember around you!"

A clear, crisp female voice rang out as Lynn directed Torchic to counterattack.

Over the past two days, Ron and his Ralts had become local celebrities on the battlefield.

Since the start of their battles, Ron and Ralts hadn't lost a single match!

Ralts' Double Team had become a signature opening move, setting the stage for their battles.

No matter who the opponent was, Ron always had Ralts use Double Team to probe their strategy.

Many challengers, after defeating the illusory copies, found themselves overwhelmed by Ralts' relentless offensive combos.

Though Lynn's goal was to defeat Ron and his Ralts, she also wanted to hold her ground as long as possible, using the match to gauge the progress of herself and her Torchic.

"Ralts, use Teleport! Follow up with Disarming Voice and finish with Magical Leaf!"

"Torchic, defend with Flame Charge!"

Unlike Ron, who had planned a chain of commands, Lynn only had time to call for Flame Charge in response.

It was like the difference between a poet eloquently describing a breathtaking scene and someone simply saying, "Cool vibes!"

After using Ember, Torchic prepared to activate Flame Charge, but Ralts had already teleported beside it.

Disarming Voice was unleashed, an unavoidable move that targeted Torchic's psyche. The sharp mental pain disrupted Torchic's Flame Charge.

Seizing the moment, Ralts charged forward. The close distance left Torchic no time to react.

Magical Leaf struck Torchic squarely. Even with type resistance, the physical pain was undeniable.

"Ralts, use Confusion to push Torchic back, then follow with another Disarming Voice!"

An invisible force knocked Torchic's small body back, and Disarming Voice enveloped it again.

At similar levels, enduring two or three direct hits was enough to exhaust most Pokémon. Torchic was no exception, now lying fainted on the ground.

"Thank you for the battle."

After defeating Lynn's Torchic, Ron didn't linger, leaving the field with his Ralts.

In just two days of battling, Ralts had reached level 14 and learned a new move: Lucky Chant.

The afternoon would bring Ron's Gym challenge, and he felt it necessary to rest beforehand.

Among the Gym Leaders of the Kanto region, Sabrina was undoubtedly one of the strongest.

Complicating matters further, Ron's strongest Pokémon, Machamp, was weak to Psychic-types. This made the upcoming battle even more challenging, so Ron needed to ensure he was in peak condition.

At 2:00 PM, Ron entered the Saffron City Gym, guided by staff members.

Perhaps influenced by Sabrina, even the staff here displayed some psychic abilities, though most were minor tricks like bending spoons.

As Ron stepped onto the battlefield, Sabrina was already waiting, with an Alakazam meditating in the center of the arena.

Sabrina's battle rule was simple: defeat her Alakazam to claim victory.

Using his "Fighting Sense," Ron confirmed that Alakazam was level 39, the same level as his Machamp, which brought him some relief.

Even with the type disadvantage and Sabrina's reputation as a formidable Psychic user, Ron believed he wouldn't lose!

"Machamp, let's go! Start with Quadruple Dynamic Punch!"

Since evolving, Machamp had learned Dynamic Punch, a move that unleashed immense force. With four arms, Machamp could deliver four simultaneous punches.

"Alakazam, use Confusion in combination with Disable!"

As a psychic herself, Sabrina utilized telepathy to command her Pokémon silently.

However, she rarely used this ability in Gym battles, as a courtesy to challengers.

Disable rendered recently used moves temporarily unusable while also immobilizing the target.

Confusion, a classic Psychic move, appeared simple on the surface, but its power varied depending on the user's psychic strength.

For example, Alakazam's combined Confusion and Disable halted Machamp mid-charge, inflicting significant damage.

"Alakazam, use Psyshock followed by Psycho Cut!"

"Machamp, break free and dodge with Soru!"

As Alakazam prepared to launch its next attack, Machamp seized the opportunity to regain mobility.

Summoning all its strength, Machamp broke free from Disable and used Soru, vanishing from sight. Alakazam's Psyshock and Psycho Cut missed their mark.

In the blink of an eye, Machamp appeared behind Alakazam, unleashing Quadruple Dynamic Punch.

However, Sabrina's telepathic command preempted the move, instructing Alakazam to teleport away just in time.

Forcing Sabrina to rely on telepathy elicited a rare reaction from her: a flicker of surprise and interest on her otherwise stoic face. The expression vanished as quickly as it appeared.

"Alakazam, aim Psyshock and Psycho Cut at yourself, then use Ally Switch."

With telepathy, Ron couldn't hear Sabrina's commands. He could only watch as Alakazam seemingly prepared to attack itself.

Since capturing Ralts, Ron had anticipated this tactic: Alakazam would likely use Ally Switch at the last moment to trap Machamp.

"Machamp, prepare for Full Release."

At Ron's signal, Machamp's power-enhancing belt began to loosen. The energy coursing through its body surged uncontrollably, leaving Machamp slightly intoxicated by its newfound strength.

In the next instant, Ally Switch activated, swapping Machamp's position with Alakazam's. Alakazam's attacks now targeted Machamp directly.

In what seemed like an unavoidable situation, Machamp found a way to exploit a narrow opening.

Fully powered, Machamp used Soru again, moving so swiftly it seemed to teleport, catching up to Alakazam.

"Alakazam, counter with Psyshock and Confusion to repel it!"

As Machamp closed in, Sabrina's voice resonated in Alakazam's mind.

Like Ron, Sabrina believed no opponent of equal level could withstand Alakazam's psychic prowess, especially one with a type disadvantage like Machamp.

"Machamp, Double Close Combat!"

During its charge, Ron's voice rang out, prompting Machamp to adjust its strategy.

Alakazam's Psyshock and Confusion clashed with Machamp, but the collision of forces ended with Machamp delivering a devastating Close Combat attack, leveraging its four arms to devastating effect.
