Online Game: Lord Of The Wheel Of Destiny

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Visitor?

[T/N: 🥳HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS🎊 Have a great year~]

Standing in the teleportation array, Jiang Kai's eyes were suddenly blinded by a strong light. His vision blurred... Moments later, when he reopened his eyes, he found himself back in the login gate hall.

Before him, over a dozen armed soldiers were watching him, along with the strict female instructor.

For some unknown reason, seeing the female instructor again made Jiang Kai feel a strange sense of familiarity.

"Congratulations." Su Lanlan offered her flat and succinct congratulatory remark, then lowered her gaze slightly and said blandly, "You can go put your clothes on now."

It was only then that Jiang Kai remembered he was still wearing nothing but his underwear.

He went to his locker, retrieved his clothes, and dressed neatly.

'Ah, the feeling of being clothed again—it's so wonderful.' Jiang Kai instantly felt much more comfortable all over.

There were still a few people moving slower, just finishing getting dressed and preparing to leave.

Jiang Kai quickly found Yuan Zhu, and Yuan Zhu also noticed him. Just as Yuan Zhu was about to wave, the female officer walked up to him and said a few words.

From Yuan Zhu's expression, it seemed he was surprised.

Jiang Kai rushed over. "What's going on?"

Su Lanlan glanced at Jiang Kai and said blandly, "Nothing, we just need him for something."

Jiang Kai was about to say something when a soldier said to Yuan Zhu, "Please come with us."

Yuan Zhu turned to Jiang Kai. "Kai, it's fine. They just want to ask me a few things. I'm not sure when I'll be back, so you go ahead and head home."

Su Lanlan added, "Don't worry, it's nothing bad. Also, someone should have told you what to do next, right? I suggest you hurry and handle it. Don't keep your guest waiting too long."

Before Jiang Kai could react, Yuan Zhu left with the female instructor and her team.

Riding a shared bicycle, Jiang Kai looked at the modern cityscape around him with a strange feeling.

The realism of Destiny's Calling made him feel like he was shuttling between two completely different worlds. It blurred the line between which was real and which was virtual.

No wonder so many players in Destiny's Calling often had one particular feeling:

Maybe Destiny's Calling isn't virtual at all but some kind of advanced intelligence that has already achieved complete digitalization of the human body...

Unfortunately, with the current level of human technology, this mystery probably won't be unraveled for a long time.

Shaking off his thoughts, Jiang Kai focused on reality. The officer, Lu Jun, had instructed him to go home. Combined with what the female officer said, it seemed someone was waiting for him at his house.

Jiang Kai pedaled harder, speeding up.

An hour later, Jiang Kai finally returned to the slum area. As he parked the bicycle, he noticed three black vans parked at the street corner.

The three vehicles were identical in model, with pitch-black windows that completely obscured the interiors.

As Jiang Kai was locking the bicycle, he frowned.

In this area, it was rare to see cars parked here. First, rich people wouldn't come here. Second, they'd be afraid of their cars being stolen and wouldn't park here anyway.

While Jiang Kai was still puzzling over it, the doors of the three vehicles suddenly slid open simultaneously.

Immediately afterward, a group of people dressed in black jumped out of the cars, wielding baseball bats and machetes...

"THERE HE IS!" someone shouted angrily. Then, more than twenty people rushed toward Jiang Kai.

Jiang Kai's eyes widened. He turned and ran for his life.

These men, all strong and young, seemed to go berserk at the sight of Jiang Kai, chasing him madly.

Jiang Kai didn't know what was going on, but one thing was clear—if they caught him, he wouldn't live to see another day.

He sprinted like a hundred-meter athlete, weaving through alleys and streets.

Yet, no matter how he darted and twisted, they relentlessly pursued him.

Since the launch of Destiny's Calling, many players had taken up regular exercise to prepare for the Newcomer Trial. In their twenties, at their physical prime, it was almost impossible to completely shake them off.

Jiang Kai's only advantage was his familiarity with the layout of the slum, using its maze-like alleys to narrowly escape a few close calls.

But now he had crossed half the slum. If he couldn't lose them soon, leaving the slum would spell even greater danger.

Gritting his teeth, Jiang Kai vaulted over a low wall and quickly turned a corner.

Using the brief moment of lost sight by his pursuers, he dashed to a house near the corner, fumbled with a key, and inserted it into the lock with trembling hands.

He only had seconds.

His usually practiced movements suddenly felt clumsy under pressure.

Footsteps approached rapidly from around the corner. Jiang Kai finally got the key in, turned it, and dashed inside. He slammed the door shut.

Just as the door closed, a chaotic flurry of footsteps rushed past outside.

As Jiang Kai was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he suddenly heard a voice. Cold and commanding, it ordered, "You idiots, stop right there."

Judging by the direction of the voice, the speaker was standing right in front of Jiang Kai's house.

"Huang Shao, what's wrong? That brat runs like a rabbit. A few seconds wasted, and he escaped."

"Hmph, escaped? Do you know where this is? This is Jiang Kai's house."

Jiang Kai heard this loud and clear. His heart sank to the bottom of the abyss.

Suddenly, an immense force struck from behind. Jiang Kai, along with the door, was kicked flying, crashing into pots and bowls, creating a mess.

"Well, well, isn't this a coincidence? Jiang Kai, we meet again." The speaker, standing in the doorway, showed no surprise upon seeing Jiang Kai at home. "With your cleverness, you must have realized you couldn't shake off these men. So you gambled and hid here, thinking the most dangerous place is the safest. If it weren't for me leading this personally, you might have actually pulled it off."

Jiang Kai climbed to his feet and glared at the man furiously. "Huang Da? I thought it'd be Huang Wei. Turns out you're here to stand up for him."

Huang Da's face darkened instantly, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Because of you, Huang Wei now needs psychological therapy."

Huang Da restrained his anger, sneering viciously. "But that's fine. He was only killed in Destiny's Calling. Now, I'm going to make you feel his pain—in reality."

He raised his hand, and someone handed him a steel needle over a meter long.

"You made Huang Wei unable to log in for a month. I'll make sure you can't log in ever again."

"Drag him out!"

Immediately, three or four burly men rushed into Jiang Kai's home.

In the narrow space, Jiang Kai had no chance to escape.

Two men controlled Jiang Kai's arms, pressing him out as if escorting a criminal.

"KNEEL DOWN!" A burly man shouted angrily from behind.

Jiang Kai coldly stared at Huang Da, motionless.

"I told you to kneel." The burly man behind him fiercely kicked the back of Jiang Kai's knees. Reflexively, his knees bent, nearly forcing him down.

But just as he was about to kneel, Jiang Kai suddenly exerted strength and managed not to kneel.

"You want me to kneel to a despicable scoundrel like you? Pah!" Jiang Kai spat in Huang Da's face. "Come on, fight me one-on-one."

Huang Da's nostrils flared in anger. He wiped the spit off his face with a tissue, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

"A one-on-one fight? Do you think you're worthy?"

"Got some backbone, huh? You two, hold him down!" Huang Da ordered his man.

Jiang Kai could only feel the increasing force on his arms, painfully twisted backward, leaving him unable to move.

Huang Da's face twisted into a sinister smile. He clenched his fist, then slowly took out a golden knuckle duster and slipped it onto his hand.

With a punch, Huang Da struck Jiang Kai hard in the stomach. "Still acting tough, huh?"

Another punch. "Daring to mess with the Huang family, huh?"

"Number one rookie, huh?"

"I'll show you reality."

Huang Da's fists struck Jiang Kai's abdomen one after another. Jiang Kai, restrained by the burly men behind him, could neither block nor dodge. After three or four punches, his insides felt like they were churning, and he coughed up blood.

"Jiang Kai, let me make one thing clear. People like you, from the lower ranks, will always remain lower ranks. Your only fate is to accept being trampled by people like us."

After hitting him for over a dozen punches, Huang Da seemed to tire himself out. He shook his arm, took off the knuckle duster, and once again picked up the steel spike.

"Do you know, Jiang Kai, your recklessness hasn't just harmed yourself—it will harm your older brother and younger sister too."

"Unfortunately, you won't have the chance to see their fate."

Jiang Kai, with his mouth full of blood, lifted his head weakly and looked at Huang Da. "If you dare lay a hand on them, I'll never let you off."

"Hmph." Huang Da sneered. "You still don't understand what I'm saying, do you? Do you think you'll still have the chance to come after me?"

A flash of shock appeared in Jiang Kai's eyes. He seemed to realize what Huang Da meant, looking at him in horror. "You… you dare to kill in broad daylight?"

Huang Da smiled faintly. "No, you're overestimating yourself. Do you count as human? In my eyes, you're just a dog."
