Chapter 3: Hidden personality?
"Kid, you're far too arrogant!" Alexis roared, his bloodshot eyes glowing with fury. In a burst of terrifying speed, the Giant Rhino charged forward, leaving destruction in his wake as the ground crumbled beneath him.
Unfazed by the brutal charge, Kai leapt gracefully into the air and landed perfectly on the rhino's back, his movements precise and deliberate.
For a moment, Alexis froze, stunned by the audacity of the move. But the shock quickly gave way to humiliation, and he thrashed wildly, trying to throw Kai off. Despite his violent efforts, Kai stood firm, his legs rooted like an immovable force. No matter how fiercely Alexis struggled, it was all in vain.
Seizing the moment in Alexis' blind rage, Kai delivered a precise punch to the rhino's vulnerable eye.
"Moooo!"
A guttural scream of pain erupted from the beast as Alexis recoiled. Realizing his animal form left him too exposed, he roared and shifted into his hybrid formβa grotesque, minotaur-like figure with horns protruding from his nose and bulging, malformed muscles.
Kai, with calculated ease, pushed off Alexis' back and landed on the ground. Before the hulking pirate could adapt to the shift in his form, Kai lashed out. His long leg swept through the air like a whip, slamming into Alexis' side and sending him hurtling through the forest. Trees shattered in his path as the Giant Rhino finally came to a stop, hundreds of meters away.
"G-gulp..." The invading pirates swallowed hard, their faces pale with disbelief. "Even in his hybrid form, the captain... he's no match for that brat?"
"RAAAHHHH!" Alexis' eyes burned crimson, and white mist billowed from his nostrils. He rose again, radiating unbridled rage.
Kai frowned slightly as Alexis charged once more. "Zoan Devil Fruits truly give overwhelming durability in the early stages. No wonder he's managed to survive so many Navy crackdowns."
Even in his half-beast state, Alexis towered over three meters tall, his muscles rippling like forged steel. When he charged, he resembled a granite golem, each step pounding the earth beneath him.
Yet to Kai, the rampaging tauren was no more than a clumsy brute. With pinpoint precision, Kai struck Alexis' knee, shattering it with a single blow. The giant stumbled, and before he could recover, a devastating kick to the waist sent him sprawling to the ground, leaving his battered body half-kneeling amidst the rubble.
Though his Devil Fruit granted him unparalleled endurance and strength, Alexis lacked agility, and Kai exploited this weakness ruthlessly.
But Alexis was no coward. He gritted his teeth, his pride as an infamous pirate pushing him forward. His one advantage was his sheer ability to endure punishment. "Even if I take a hundred hits for one chance, it'll be worth it!" he thought, determined.
With a fierce glare, Alexis crossed his arms to shield his face, bracing for Kai' next attack. Then, as Kai' foot struck his chest, Alexis clenched his jaw and swallowed the blood rising in his throat. Taking the pain in stride, he lunged forward with his massive hands, aiming to grab Kai in a crushing grip.
"Got you now, kid!" Alexis bellowed, his large hands locking around Kai' fists. It looked as though the two were locked in a test of strength, Alexis half-kneeling on the ground.
"No," Kai said calmly, a faint smile on his lips. "I've got you."
With unyielding force, Kai began to pry Alexis' hands apart, inch by inch, like an arm-wrestler overpowering his opponent.
"H-how do you have this much strength?" Alexis' voice trembled as he gawked in disbelief, his bravado crumbling under the weight of reality.
SWISH!
A silver bullet whizzed past Kai' face, barely missing him.
Kai tilted his head slightly, dodging the sniper shot with almost nonchalant ease. "Hmm. A sniper? Do you have any other tricks?" he asked, his voice as calm as if he were discussing the weather.
Alexis' eyes bulged in horror. "How... How did you see that coming? That shot was from your blind spot!"
Quincy, the so-called "swordsman" who was actually a skilled sniper, watched in stunned silence from the treeline. His high-caliber rifle, a rare import from the North Blue, was designed for silent, lethal kills. Yet, somehow, Kai had evaded the undetectable shot.
"How is this possible?" Quincy muttered, his hands trembling. To cover his fear, he emptied the rest of his rifle's magazine, firing a flurry of bullets in desperation.
