One piece: Pirate hunter system

Chapter 29: Chapter 29

Rogu looked at his stock of black coins, which were now empty, and decided not to buy any more for now. Although, to be honest, he hadn't even bought these coins. After all, every pirate who was "subject to capture" automatically brought one of these coins. So, despite the fact that he had leveled up the Quartering skill to level 5, it didn't cost him a cent.

"But to reach level 6, black iron coins alone won't be enough for me. That's probably why they give out such coins for every pirate they catch," he said thoughtfully.

The prices in the coin shop were rising exponentially, and Rogu knew perfectly well that it was not just like that. However, the idea that a hundred black coins could be exchanged for one gold coin was quite tempting.

- Although... catching a hundred pirates is already a challenge.

At that moment, he whistled: "But if I catch a hundred pirates, won't their rewards add up to a sum exceeding a billion, or even more?"

Rogu grinned, it seemed logical. On the Grand Line, and especially in the New World, the bounties for pirates are much higher than in the East Blue. And the bounty on a pirate's head there is rarely less than ten million.

"That's why having a system is so unfair. It's pure cheating!" he mock-complained, shaking his head, and then decided to focus on learning a new skill.

The skill "Quartering" was almost identical to Buggy's ability granted by his Devil Fruit. Rogu could split his body into parts at will. The only limitation was that the distance between the body parts should not exceed two meters.

However, there were important differences between his skill and Buggy's ability. Rogu had a time limit. And at the current level 5, he could only maintain body division for five minutes.

"That's the key difference, hmm..." he mused. "Also, Buggy can lose a body part, and it turns into something like a mini-Buggy. However, if I lose a body part, I'll just die in five minutes."

However, even with this limitation, he found this skill extremely useful. Especially in survival situations.

Closing the Fallen interface and his Hunter License, Rogu called Cindy to bring him a cup of coffee while he sat comfortably in his rocking chair, slowly rocking back and forth, contemplating the potential of his new abilities.

"There are so many opportunities here," he said with a smile.

The mechanics of "Fallen" were, in his opinion, like a hidden gem. Five captured pirates form one cell, and this gives the opportunity to obtain the Key of the Fallen. With the help of which you can conduct a lottery and try to get the abilities of one of the prisoners.

— If I think it all through correctly, I can gather five of the strongest pirates with unique abilities in one cell. And if I'm not lucky with the choice right away, I can catch five more to get a new key and try again. It's only important that these cells can actually be reused.

He tapped his finger lightly on the table, thinking over his plan.

— In addition, I have the opportunity to gain abilities by killing pirates, as stated in the wanted posters. However, for each pirate killed, the reward is halved. Fortunately, the Marines pay the full amount. So, in total, I only lose a quarter of the reward, which is quite acceptable.

But then Rogu asked himself the main question: "What do I need most of all, right now?"

His gaze turned to the ceiling.

— Maybe master haki? Or get a nature-type ability? Honestly, if I were to face the strongest pirates, would I be able to win?

This thought gradually cooled his enthusiasm. He realized that for now it was his system that was strong, not he himself. He just didn't feel invulnerable yet.

There are too many monsters in this world, Rogu thought as he looked at the calm waters surrounding his ship.

Monsters of the New World, the strongest of the strongest in the Grand Line... And only in the East Blue could one allow oneself such freedom and carelessness. After all, everything is much simpler here.

"Just having the Moon Heart Level 5 technique is not enough, right?" he said, talking to himself, and then sighed heavily, "It's a pity that I won't meet anyone in the East Blue who will make me understand the limits of my powers. Maybe Mihawk, who will appear in the Baratie restaurant... but should I challenge such an opponent? It's the same as leaving the starting village and rushing straight to the final boss. No, no... There's no need to rush. We must wait for the right moment."

The deck was calm, and a light sea breeze blew on his face. The chained pirates went about their tasks, as if they had already resigned themselves to the inevitable. Among them, Cindy stood out. After Rogu had set him up, he seemed to have undergone an internal change. Now, he was much harsher with the captives, and at the same time even more obsequious and respectful towards Rogu himself.

Rogu, of course, didn't really care what was going on in Cindy's head. He didn't care what plans the man was making. In fact, if Cindy found another pirate with a bounty higher than ten million beli for Rogu to catch, that would only make him happier.

Standing on the deck, Rogu trained with his blade Kuromaru. Although he often used Alvida's mace in recent battles, his mastery of the Heart of the Moon technique remained his greatest pride.

However, progress was slow, and now the training stopped bringing tangible results. But Rogu stubbornly continued, devoting time day after day to honing his skills.

"Progress is built from small steps. Without them, I will not reach real heights!" he reminded himself.

The system was certainly strong, but three years of hard work played no less a role. After all, without this training he would hardly have been able to defeat even Marcello, not to mention his current opponents.

Rogu never forgot that the stronger his body, the more power he could extract from the skills provided by his system. Therefore, stopping training was not an option.

Several days had passed since Buggy's capture. The sea remained calm. No pirates, no marines, no, strangely, Luffy floating in a barrel - nothing and no one. Even merchant ships were extremely rare.

East Blue seemed like an old, decrepit old man, living out his last days in peace and quiet. But suddenly... the waves began to churn, and the calm surface of the water began to boil, and huge waves washed over the ship.

The pirates working on the deck turned pale. Cindy, rattling his chains, rushed to the side and froze, looking at the giant wave rising from the water. Then his face distorted in horror.

"M-mor... Mor..." he stuttered, helplessly pointing at the water, but was unable to finish.

Rogu continued to stare at his blade, as if lost in thought. And then there was a deafening roar. The waves scattered in all directions, and a giant creature burst out of the water.

A huge, ominous head with a mouth full of terrible fangs loomed over the ship. A strong smell emanated from it, and their ship began to rock dangerously, as if it was about to capsize.

"SEA KING!!!" Cindy screamed shrilly, breaking his voice. The pirates who were steering the ship collapsed on the deck, their faces turning whiter than snow.

Meeting the Sea King in the East Blue almost always meant certain death. The only hope was Rogu, but he... seemed lost in thought and completely disconnected from reality.

"Is he scared to the point of speechlessness?!" Cindy thought in horror.

But just as the panic reached its peak, a sharp whistle was heard. And the sound, which seemed to cut through the air, rushed across the deck.

The Sea King, who had been proudly towering over the ship, suddenly froze, and the next second a bloody line appeared on his neck. His giant head slowly separated from his body and fell into the water with a loud splash.

"Ah, Sea King," Rogu said, as if waking up. He looked at Kuromaru in his hand and smiled, "It looks like dinner will be extra tonight."
