Occult Clash: Infinite Quest

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

"Wake up, Bastard!"

Ah… This feeling, I'll never get used to it. And why is it always at this exact moment that this annoying girl comes to ruin my morning peace?

Natural light entered the room accompanied by small sounds of birds and that of the rooster seeming to announce the start of a new day

Akira had regressed to his 15-year-old self.

It was 6:30 AM in Japan, and Akira (the Shaolin master) lay sprawled in his room, as if time itself waited for him to move forward. And, in a way, it did.

A beautiful girl with green hair, similar to Akira's, stood before him, her expression filled with disgust, staring at him as though he were nothing more than an insect.

Her name was Miku Ishida, Akira's twin sister.

Unlike her lazy brother, who was considered a failure by the prestigious Ishida family, Miku was a brilliant girl with a promising future.

For years the large Ishida family has been responsible for "???????" we have existed for a long time under the leadership of the patriarch and therefore "men" but the incompetence of the heir Akira was so obvious While Miku for her part, although a woman, was endowed with monstrous talent to the point that the current patriarch once declared during a family reunion "Miku will succeed me"

No one opposed it because for everyone it was obvious.

She possessed an extraordinary talent in a very specific field, classified as top secret for ordinary people like Akira. Consequently, she attended a similarly secretive school in the United States. For some reason, she had returned to Japan to handle a matter.

The pride of the family.

Though they were twins, their relationship was far from good. No, it was more accurate to say that Miku hated her brother. Yet, there had been a time when they were very close.

"You have school today, don't you? Why are you still lying here like you've got nothing to do?"

"(Yawn) You're full of energy today, sis. What's up?"

Miku responded coldly:

"Do you even realize that your disgraceful attitude tarnishes the Ishida name?"

This guy seems off today.

"And didn't I already tell you not to call me your sister?"

On the surface, Akira acted like her words didn't matter at all. He stared absentmindedly at the ceiling, though his thoughts were filled with nostalgia, entirely different from his outward demeanor.

Too cute, my little sis. I want to hug her. But then, it'd be stupid to die right after my return, wouldn't it? During the invasion, I never saw her again... or Father and Grandfather. What happened to them?

"You bastard, are you ignoring me?"

Her tone was colder than before.

At those words, Akira calmly sat up on the bed and looked at her for two seconds.

Despite her stoic exterior, Miku was shocked. In that brief gaze, she saw so many emotions in her brother's eyes—joy, sorrow, determination, fear, and more.

She could perceive all this because she was Miku. Yes, Miku of the Ishida family.

And perhaps, because of the invisible bond shared by twins.

Something has definitely changed about him. How can a person display so many emotions? What happened to him while I was in the United States?

"Hey, what are you—" Miku started, but her words trailed off abruptly.

Akira had already stepped closer, raising his hand above her head. At first, she intended to move away, but for some reason, she froze in place.

He… erased his presence!? No, that's impossible.

Then, casually, Akira gently patted his sister's head, as if stroking a kitten.

Miku's lips moved slightly, as if to say something, but before she could, Akira pulled her into an embrace.

Ah, screw it. I'm not going to die over something like this.

I… I missed you.

Akira opened his mouth and softly whispered in his sister's ear:

"You don't have to worry anymore, princess. I'll take care of everything now."

For some reason, they stayed like that. In her brother's arms, Miku no longer resembled the proud, arrogant young woman from moments ago. Instead, she seemed like a timid little girl, cradled by her big brother.

After a minute, she gently pushed him away. A sinister smile then appeared on her face.

I'm not going to die, am I?

(Auth: Good luck, bro.)

That day, Akira's room was stained with pure red.

She casually walked out of her brother's room, bloodstains on her clothes, and found her mother sitting on the couch, reading a newspaper.

Miku asked her mother:

"Mom, has Kira been learning martial arts recently?"

"Kira?" Her mother seemed slightly surprised because, for the past few years, Miku had been calling him degrading names like trash, good-for-nothing, bastard, etc. And now, she was calling him as she did when they were little.

"Not to my knowledge."

As if losing all interest, her mother turned her attention back to the newspaper.

It could certainly be said that this was an unusual family, as despite the visible blood on the daughter and the screams that had just echoed from the room, no one seemed disturbed. Neither the mother nor the servants.

"Well, I'll take my leave now, mother."

"Are you going back to the United States?" her mother asked nonchalantly, without even looking up from the paper, knowing her daughter had been there for some time.

"No, I'm going to see Grandpa. I have something to settle with him, that's why I came back to Japan."

"Ah, alright. Please give him my regards and good luck."

"I won't forget, and thanks, mom."

Once outside the house, Miku called a name:

"John."

"I have a job for you."
