Chapter 367 My Family Part 3

"Mom!" I called out, the words escaping my lips with longing. For some reason, I felt like I'm becoming more human in front of her; becoming more emotional.

Find adventures on empire

It was as if she had the ability to make others show their true emotions.

I wanted to touch her hands too; I missed her so much, and this moment being stolen from me by a copycat hurt my ego.

The desire to let go of my control and unleash a torrent of anger on my copycat surged within me. The internal struggle was evident, but I stopped myself from succumbing to the rage, afraid that my mother would witness such an unsightly version of me

She turned towards me, her gaze slowly locked up to meet my eyes. However, the expression on her face was far from what I expected.

A look of confusion, doubt, and a hint of curiosity painted her face. It was as if she were caught off guard, trying to piece together the situation.

In that moment, I felt a surge of negative emotions, but I managed to calm myself down. I considered the possibility that her initial reaction was simply because my copycat was the first person she saw.

And now, she was just confused because there were two Zyden's in front of her. Any person would probably have the same reaction if they found themselves in the middle of such a confusing scene.

But her next words hurt me.

"Who are you?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. Her tone sounded curious and a bit skeptical.

"It's me, Zyden," I said, trying to walk closer.

But before I could take a step, that annoying Zeker guy summoned his own invisible hands and pointed them at me.

"Lady Zayen, be careful. This guy can shapeshift; he copied Zyden's face," Zeker spoke up, painting me as the bad guy.

"Stop lying to her. I'm the real Zyden," I protested, still holding back my anger. My innate skill, Super Sadism, was already on full effect, making me want to torture them.

My mother did not reply; instead, she just gazed at me.

'That's right. I knew she would recognize me,' I thought to myself, seeing that she did not immediately dismiss the idea of me being her real son.

Suddenly, a flicker of recognition crossed her face. It was evident in her eyes that she had remembered something, and in response, she instinctively covered her mouth in shock.

"I-Impossible, it succeeded ?" she exclaimed. Her reaction was unexpected.

"What do you mean?" I asked, growing curious because her words was not normal for a mother who remembered her son. .

At this point, I wanted some clarification. 'What succeeded ?'

"This is not the right place," she replied, trying to regulate her breathing. It seemed the shock of the memory she recalled made her lose composure.

"Zyden," she called out.

"Yes," we both answered at the same time, but she was clearly looking at my copycat.

"Do you know her, Mom?" my copycat asked.

"I think I know what's happening now. But it's hard to explain. For now, all I could say is, he is telling the truth" she explained.

My copycat was shocked, and even the other guys looked at each other, still doubting her words.

'Heard that, fuckers? Just wait. She said I can't hurt her, but I can kill you guys.' I looked at them with a look of contempt.

"Are you sure he's one of us ? I can't detect the Zol Blood on him," Zeker protested.

'I will kill you first after I got my full powers back' I made a mental note to disposed this guy later. How dare you doubt her words.

"I will explain later," my mother replied. "Please stop pointing your powers at him, " she pleaded.

Reluctantly, the three retracted their powers. The tension in the air eased for the meantime .

As for me, I just went along with my mothers words. My mind was still confused, like a puzzle missing some pieces, making everything feel uncertain.

"Please follow us, Jin-hoo," she said, using my family name.

She still remembered my last name, meaning that she recalled our lives together—the time when she took care of me, where she and Dad doted on me.

It was true that I felt a bit insulted that he used my last name, but when I looked at her, I couldn't really get angry. After all, she was my mother.

"Hey, can you change your face first? It's weird that we have the same one," my copycat spoke up.

"Why don't you change your face? I've had this one since I was born," I replied, lying through my teeth.

In reality, I used to be pretty unattractive and chubby. I only took on this appearance when my charisma increased.

"You think I have the ability to just change my face? I'm not a freak like you" My copycat sneered.

"Weakling," I spat at him.

"Both of you, stop," my mother intervened, and despite our differences, we both felt compelled to follow her.

I was suspicious that maybe she used something like mind control, but my Shield Of Z did not detect anything.

She was the first one to approach me , and standing side by side I could see a smile on her face.

"I will explain everything to you later," she said, touching my cheek.

I felt warmth spreading, and my heart started beating fast.

Everything seemed to slow down. Despite looking thin and weak at the moment, she was still as beautiful as I remembered.

Her long jet-black hair, her snow-white skin, her red lips—everything about her was perfect. None of the girls I had ever known could compare to her.

"Okay, Mom," I replied, holding her hands against my cheek. I really missed her.

"I..." She blushed a deep shade of red when I did it, unlike her reaction towards my copycat

'I know it. My mom loves me more,' I chuckled to myself, hearing that her heart also started beating faster.

But at the same time, it felt weird that she started avoiding my gaze. Was she embarrassed about me showing affection to her?

"I missed you, Mom," I said, now using my two hands to keep her palm against my cheeks.
