Hokage's Office.
Yūhi Kurenai bowed slightly before speaking.
"Lord Hokage, the Daimyō has approved Lord Sasame's appointment as the Sixth Hokage."
"He didn't accompany you back?"
Tsunade nodded, then frowned. "Without the Daimyō's formal authorization in person, the Hokage cannot officially assume office."
"The Daimyō wishes to meet Lord Sasame face-to-face in the capital of the Land of Fire."
Kurenai produced a sealed letter. "This is his decree."
"I see."
Tsunade tore open the envelope, scanning its contents. Nothing unusual—just standard procedure.
Traditionally, the Hokage should visit the Daimyō, given the latter's status.
"Good work, Kurenai."
She pocketed the decree with a smile. "You're dismissed."
"Of course."
Kurenai bowed again before exiting.
"Seems you'll need to make a trip to the capital." Tsunade tossed the letter to Sasame, who stood behind her.
"No problem. With the Flying Thunder God, it won't take long."
He didn't bother reading it.
"Then prepare for the Jonin Council meeting."
Tsunade exhaled, her expression easing. "A few years as Hokage, and I'm already exhausted. How the hell did the old man last so long—and enjoy it?"
"People have different priorities."
Sasame chuckled. "That's what makes you unique, sis."
"Save the sweet talk. Go notify the jonin."
Despite her tone, her lips twitched upward.
Jonin Assembly Hall
The room buzzed with murmurs as the elite shinobi of Konoha gathered.
Most were clueless about the agenda—only a select few remained composed, already privy to the news.
The chatter died instantly when Sarutobi Hiruzen entered.
Since Tsunade's inauguration, the retired Third Hokage had stayed out of politics. His sudden appearance screamed significance.
A few jonin shifted uneasily, fearing personal repercussions.
Hiruzen took his seat—Sasame's usual spot—at the front.
"Genma, it's been a while."
"Lord Third."
Mitarashi Anko's response was neutral.
"We've known each other decades. Just call me Hiruzen now."
He waved dismissively. "Never thought you'd accept the role of ANBU Commander."
(He'd also never expected Tsunade and Sasame's overhaul of Konoha's security apparatus—a masterstroke reclaiming power from the clans.)
"If Konoha needs me, I'll serve."
Anko's gaze hardened. "But why are you here? To oppose this?"
As ANBU head, she knew today's purpose.
"Do you truly think so little of me?"
Hiruzen sighed. Though he'd once clung to power, those days were gone.
"Prove it then."
Anko eyed him. "You're no longer Hokage. Stay out of Konoha's affairs."
"You really trust Sasame that much?"
Hiruzen seemed puzzled. "He's skilled, but youth breeds recklessness."
"This isn't about trust—it's experience."
Anko shook her head.
Sasame's tenure as Hokage Advisor had showcased precision and decisiveness surpassing even Hiruzen's prime.
The Third had never worked directly with him, relying only on rumors.
His old comrade's faith stung.
Back in my day, you weren't this effusive…
Nearby, Might Guy elbowed Kakashi. "The Third took Sasame's seat! What now?"
"You're Hokage Guard, yet you don't read briefings?"
Kakashi's deadpan stare could wither trees.
"You know me—paperwork murders my youth!"
Guy flashed a sparkling grin. "I must dedicate every second to training!"
"Hence why you turned your office into a gym?"
Kakashi sighed. "Just wait. You'll find out soon."
Telling Guy early risked a megaphone announcement to the entire room.
Kurenai stifled a laugh beside them.
These two…
Even she'd been shocked initially. Tsunade was young enough to serve years longer—why pass the mantle now?
But the decision was final. As Tsunade's guard, she just hoped Sasame would retain her team.
Losing that prestige would sting.
The Vote
Once all jonin assembled, Tsunade strode in, Sasame trailing silently.
"Thank you for attending."
She clasped her hands, voice firm. "Today's agenda: electing the next Hokage."
"WHAT?!"
The room erupted.
Compared to Hiruzen's prolonged reign, Tsunade's early resignation baffled them.
"Silence."
Her gaze swept the crowd. "I've passed my prime as a kunoichi. It's time for new leadership."
A blatant lie.
But the smartest observation?
Not a single clan head voiced dissent.
The silence grew deafening.
"Nominations begin now."
Tsunade's stare dared challenge. "I nominate Sasame. Any alternatives may step forward."
"I nominate Sarutobi Asuma!"
A voice rang out—the current head of the Shimura clan.
Hiruzen's pulse spiked.
This wasn't his doing.
With Danzō's defection, the Shimura had lost influence, pivoting to their old allies—the Sarutobi.
For a split second, Hiruzen hesitated.
The offer did tempt him.
He'd laid groundwork for Asuma's rise… but against Sasame's momentum?
Faces in the crowd—old loyalists, believers in the "Will of Fire"—nodded in support.
Hiruzen stayed silent.
Let them try. Tsunade wouldn't punish Asuma.
"Any other nominations?"
Tsunade's eyes narrowed imperceptibly.
If this is your doing, old man…
Sasame isn't just my student.
No one replaces him.
The vote commenced.
The result?
Sasame in a landslide.
Hiruzen exhaled.
So be it.
"Sasame."
Tsunade turned, her gaze softening. "From this moment, you are Konoha's Sixth Hokage."
"I won't disappoint."
He resisted the urge to embrace her.

Aftermath
News spread like wildfire—through Konoha, then the entire shinobi world.
"BORING!"
Naruto groaned, kicking a pebble. "Why hasn't Sasame-sensei summoned us yet?!"
Sasuke ignored him, replaying their latest spar.
Nine losses, one draw.
Naruto's obscene stamina made no sense.
"Hey! Look!"
Naruto pointed at a crowded bulletin board. "Something big's happening!"
"Tch."
Sasuke let himself be dragged through the throng.
"THE SIXTH HOKAGE—SASAME?!"
Naruto's jaw dropped. "HE STOLE MY SPOT!"
Sasuke's eye twitched.
This idiot…
But Sasame's ascension would impact them—as his students, their lives were about to get complicated.
Good. Complexity bred strength.
His mind flickered to Itachi.
Another Hokage loyalist.
Land of Wind, Ruins
Shimura Danzō's lone eye snapped open.
Before him stretched endless dunes—a far cry from Konoha's lush forests.
Once, he'd been the Shadow Hokage. Now? A fugitive.
"Lord Danzō."
A Suna nin appeared. "The Kazekage sends word."
"Speak."
"Sasame is to become the Sixth Hokage."
"…What?"
Danzō's grip shattered his cane. "That child? Has Konoha lost its mind?!"
"Confirmed by our spies."
How?
Why would Hiruzen, Hyūga, Nara—all bow to a boy?!
If they'd accept him, why not me?!
Rage simmered.
"Arrange a meeting with the Kazekage."
His voice dripped venom.
This isn't over.
