"Sasame-sensei, did you go easy on us on purpose?"

Naruto pouted, glaring at him with suspicion.

Even Sasuke lifted his head, Sharingan swirling with doubt.

Hinata, too, seemed to share their thoughts.

After all, getting the bells had been way too easy—no way someone of Sasame's caliber would let them slip through so effortlessly.

But Naruto had another complaint.

Why were he and Sasuke the only ones getting soaked and force-fed water while Hinata walked away unscathed?!

"You're misunderstanding. This was the result of your teamwork."

Sasame delivered the lie with a straight face.

"Without your frontal assault, Hinata wouldn't have secured the bells."

"Really?"

Naruto squinted. It sounded logical, but his gut screamed bullshit.

Sasuke scoffed outright.

Still, the test had forced him to acknowledge Sasame's strength.

The pressure he'd faced dwarfed even Kakashi's—his Sharingan, fire and lightning jutsu, all useless.

Not a single scratch landed.

"Why would I lie?" Sasame grinned. "After today, I'm confident in your abilities. Among your peers, you're unmatched. I believe you'll all achieve your dreams."

"HAHAHA! Of course!" Naruto pumped his fist. "I'm definitely gonna be the man who becomes Hokage!"

"Pfft—no, drop the last part." Sasame's smile froze. "Just say 'become Hokage.' Not 'the man who becomes Hokage.' Got it?"

"Huh? What's the difference?"

"A big one." Sasame deadpanned. "Want to be Hokage? Then listen to me."

"O-oh… okay!" Naruto nodded, clueless but compliant. "I'll become Hokage!"

"Idiot." Sasuke rolled his eyes.

Sasame was obviously messing with him, yet this dobe ate it up.

"You two, go change. Meet at Ichiraku Ramen."

Sasame paused. "Naruto, you're sure you're treating us today?"

"Yeah? Why?"

Naruto blinked. First the Hokage thing, now this?

Sure, he was frugal, but he wasn't broke. A few bowls of ramen wouldn't kill him.

"No reason."

Sasame mentally tallied his students' finances:

Naruto: Inherited the Fourth's and Kushina's fortunes.

Sasuke: Last Uchiha = entire clan treasury.

Hinata: Hyūga heiress = unlimited allowance.

Yeah, they'd survive.

(Naruto's wallet might weep, though.)

"Go on." He shooed them off.

The two drenched boys vanished in a blur.

Turning, Sasame found Hinata staring—her pale eyes brimming with unspoken questions.

"Don't worry." He patted her head. "Naruto's loaded."

"Mm." She exhaled in relief.

As they walked, her gaze kept drifting to his hand.

Heart pounding, she fidgeted, fingers twisting together—too shy to reach out.

"Hinata."

Noticing her struggle, Sasame took her tiny hand in his. "Do you resent me for making you graduate early?"

"N-no!"

The contact sent her into meltdown mode, cheeks burning crimson.

She barely managed a coherent reply: "I'm… happy."

Sure, she'd miss her friends—but being with Sasame outweighed that.

(And it wasn't like she couldn't visit.)

"Good." He smiled. "When Hokage-sama assigned me students, you were my first choice."

"..."

Hinata bit her lip, too flustered to voice her real question:

If I'm your student now… can we still… y'know…?

Gathering courage, she peeked at his profile. "S-Sasame-nii… how was my performance?"

"Brilliant."

He didn't hesitate. "Mastering the Twin Lion Fists at your age? That's dedication."

A small, pleased smile tugged at her lips.

Though they met daily, most of her training was solitary—every drop of progress earned through sweat.

"Then… earlier…" She gulped. "D-did you… let me win?"

"Yep."

Sasame chuckled at her adorable panic. "You get special treatment from me, Hinata."

"—?!"

Her grip on his hand turned vice-like.

Without his support, she'd have faceplanted from sheer overheating.

Steam practically hissed from her ears.

Sasame wisely changed topics before she short-circuited entirely.

(…Though her furtive glances as they walked were precious.)

By the time they reached the bustling streets, Hinata yanked her hand back, suddenly self-conscious.

"S-sorry—"

"For what?" He ruffled her hair. "I'd rather not share how cute you are with strangers anyway."

"Eh? EHHH?!"

Her brain blue-screened.

She floated into Ichiraku in a daze, those words looping in her mind.

Ichiraku Ramen

"Sasame-sama!" Teuchi grinned. "Long time no see!"

"Dad, we've got two customers." Ayame nudged him, pointing at the malfunctioning Hinata.

"Ah, my bad!" He laughed. "Hinata, your usual?"

(How could he forget the girl who once devoured 46 bowls in one sitting?)

"S-same as Sasame-nii." She mumbled.

"Called it." Ayame winked at Sasame. "And for you, handsome?"

"It's on Naruto today."

"Naruto's treating?!" Ayame's eyes widened. "Brave soul—"

Just then, Naruto skidded in.

"Teuchi! Ayame-neechan!"

"So you're the sacrificial lamb?" Ayame whistled.

"Huh? Yeah?" Naruto patted his frog wallet. "I've got enough!"

"Tomato fish broth ramen." Sasuke slid onto a stool. "Large."

"You got it~"

Ayame's grin widened. Two pretty boys in one day? Score.

"Sensei, Hinata, order whatever!" Naruto declared. "Teuchi! Super-sized chashu rib ramen! I'm going all out!"

"Oh? Graduated, huh?" Teuchi noted his headband. "Knew you had it in you."

"Heheh, thanks!"

"Pork bone ramen." Sasame said.

"M-me too." Hinata echoed.

As the food arrived, Sasame passed her chopsticks—a gesture that made Sasuke roll his eyes harder.

(Definitely rigged the test.)

Naruto, busy inhaling his mega-bowl, didn't notice Hinata starting her second serving.

By her tenth, his jaw dropped.

"WHAT THE—?!"

Even Kurama's eyes bulged in his mindscape.

"Minato…" Kushina whispered. "Did Hiashi… mix up his babies with the Akimichi clan?"

"Her Byakugan's real, though."

"Still! How's our son supposed to afford this?!"

"Uh… pretty sure she's into Sasame." Kushina deadpanned.

"She is?"

"Men."

Meanwhile, Hinata hit bowl fifty.

Sasuke's stoicism cracked. What the actual hell.

"Naruto~" Ayame smiled sweetly. "For your graduation, we'll round it down to… 3,200 ryō."

Naruto's soul briefly left his body.

Thank kami it wasn't BBQ…

Still, at genin pay rates? That was a lot of D-ranks to recoup…
