Naruto: My Chill Life in the Hyuga Main House

Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Clan Assembly

Stepping into the clan's ancestral hall, Satori Hyūga lifted his gaze and saw many high-ranking clan members already gathered in the room.

Of course, compared to previous meetings, this one had far fewer attendees.

Some of the senior members had been dispatched across the ninja world to manage the increasingly prosperous family businesses.

Most of these individuals were allies closely aligned with Satori's branch of the clan.

As footsteps echoed through the hall, Ten'yō Hyūga was the first to turn toward the entrance. Upon spotting the newcomer, he narrowed his eyes sharply.

Sitting cross-legged on a cushion, he tightly clenched his hands downward, staring deeply at Satori Hyūga.

He wasn't the only one—other high-ranking members of the clan also stiffened when they saw him.

"What are you doing here? Who let you in?"

"Why are your eyes black?"

"And why are you wearing the robes of the Hyūga Clan?"

…

A series of confused questions came from several elders who hadn't kept up with recent developments.

They still didn't know that Satori had undergone a complete transformation and now looked entirely different.

Moreover, he had awakened the Tenseigan, experiencing an extraordinary evolution of his eyes.

An elderly clan leader stared in shock at Satori, his trembling finger pointing directly at those jet-black eyes.

Strangely eerie and unnerving, they seemed to radiate a mysterious dark power.

"What kind of eyes are those? Why are they black, unlike the Byakugan's white?"

Others who laid eyes on Satori's new pupils wore faces twisted in unease and revulsion.

To them, the Byakugan was the most sacred ocular ability—noble, divine, and among the Three Great Dojutsu.

The sudden appearance of black eyes felt like a violation, as if it had tainted the purity of the Hyūga's divine sight.

Still, they couldn't really be blamed for their reactions.

Those possessing ordinary Byakugan naturally felt restrained and fearful in the presence of the evolved Tenseigan.

When faced with Satori, an instinctive urge to submit and fear arose within them.

Seeing the elders panic as though confronting a great enemy, Satori waved his hand casually and said:

"Please, honored elders. Don't be alarmed. I'm Satori Hyūga—you even held me as a child. Have you all truly forgotten me?"

Hearing these words, the elders widened their eyes and examined him more closely, finally noticing something unusual.

One elder who had always favored Satori squinted uncertainly before squinting again, still in disbelief.

No matter how long he stared, he just couldn't reconcile the grown man before him with the juvenile figure of young Satori.

"Sounmei," the elder turned toward Sounmei Hyūga, "Is this your grandson Satori?"

Sounmei Hyūga grimaced slightly, then cast a resigned glance at Satori before explaining to the elder.

"Elder Kūmei, yes, this is indeed Satori. He practiced a secret technique that caused him to mature overnight."

Though Sounmei understood part of what had happened to Satori, even he didn't fully grasp the truth.

What he did know was that the secret jutsu Satori practiced earlier had serious flaws, which led him to search frantically for a remedy.

Once he found it, his entire body matured overnight.

Even Sounmei himself had found it hard to believe when he first witnessed it.

Elder Kūmei nodded hesitantly, then turned to ask another question tinged with uncertainty.

"What's going on with Hyūga Satori's eyes?"

"The Byakugan is our clan's treasure, a kekkei genkai that the entire ninja world envies and desires. How come his turned black?"

He spoke in a casual, conversational tone, clearly showing deference to Satori.

If anyone else had done this, the Hyūga elders would already be furious, ready to scold and beat them up.

But Satori was different—he was a business genius, with both money and connections, often generously gifting people from time to time.

As the saying goes, "Take something from someone, and your hand shortens; eat their food, and your words soften."

Most had received some favor or benefit from Satori, so when they heard it was him, they were ready to listen to his explanation.

Unless it was something truly grave, they would, for the sake of the clan's unity, choose to act as if they lifted their foot high but set it down lightly.

Besides, the elder asking the question was very old—someone who had lived through the founding of the hidden villages. Everyone naturally gave him respect.

Sounmei himself didn't exactly understand what was going on either, so he glanced at Satori and subtly signaled him with his eyes.

Even though his pupils were white, Satori could still clearly understand the meaning behind the look.

With a faint smile, Satori took a few steps forward and stood at the center of the Hyūga Clan Meeting Hall.

"Fellow clan members, I'm sure many of you are wondering why my eyes have turned black."

"I suppose no one understands this matter better than the Clan Leader himself."

"This involves a deep clan secret. It is entirely up to the Clan Leader whether he chooses to reveal it."

Satori threw the matter straight to Ten'yō—not only for an answer, but also to gauge his reaction to the secrets of the Tenseigan and the Otsutsuki.

Upon hearing that the leader knew everything, everyone turned their attention to Hyūga Ten'yō.

"Clan Leader, does that mean our Byakugan can evolve too?" asked a sharp-minded senior member.

After all, among the legendary Three Great Dojutsu, the Rinnegan's whereabouts and abilities remained unknown, while the Sharingan resided in Konoha.

Precisely because the Sharingan had the ability to evolve, many in the village considered the Byakugan to be second-rate.

Clenching his teeth in anger yet holding himself back, Ten'yō endured the piercing stares of everyone in attendance.

This was a secret passed down exclusively within the main branch of the clan generation after generation. Now Satori had exposed it publicly—it seemed like he had no choice but to reveal it.

Seated solemnly at the head of the hall, maintaining a dignified and serious expression, he answered heavily, "Yes... and no."

As soon as those words came out, the crowd erupted into astonished exclamations.

They never imagined the Byakugan could actually evolve—but then why had it turned black? Could it be a case of reaching an extreme and then transforming in reverse?

One by one, murmurs of speculation filled the room, eyes darting back and forth between Clan Leader Ten'yō and Satori.

Since the Byakugan could evolve, the secret must lie somewhere with these two individuals.

Eager expressions filled the room as everyone urged the leader to continue.

His brow furrowed in frustration, Ten'yō continued solemnly, "It all begins with our ancestor, Hamura Otsutsuki."

"Hamura Otsutsuki was the younger brother of the legendary Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki, possessing tremendous power equal to his older brother. Together, they sealed away their mother."

"He possesses the Byakugan, and his descendants are the Hyuga Clan. Naturally, we inherit the Byakugan bloodline limit."

He paused briefly before continuing.

"But what you might not know is that the Hyuga Clan isn't our only lineage. We also have close relatives—the Otsutsuki Clan—who reside on the moon above."

"The Otsutsuki Clan abides by Hamura Otsutsuki's final words, guarding the seal on the moon while observing events on Earth."

Hearing that the Hyuga Clan had close relatives living on the moon, many wore confused expressions.

One person immediately spoke up, "Clan Leader, why do we know so little about them?"
