Naruto: I’m the One Executing the Moon Eye Plan

Chapter 154: Chapter 153: Just a Precaution

The Flying Thunder God Technique activated.

Without anyone noticing, Uchiha Kaien switched places with the illusion beast that had been entertaining guests at the birthday party. He left the beast to deal with Black Zetsu.

Now wasn't the time to fall out with Black Zetsu. Besides, with Black Zetsu playing the role of a butler, Kaien didn't have to handle everything himself.

At least for this phase of the Eye of the Moon Plan, their goals were still aligned. Black Zetsu would put in 100% effort.

As for Kaien, he intended to enjoy his birthday party in peace.

...

When Kaien stepped out of the bathroom, the living room was already packed. A mountain of gifts had been stacked to one side.

At a small table, already halfway through their drinks, sat the legendary Three Sannin and Konoha's White Fang—Hatake Sakumo. The atmosphere was lively, to say the least.

There was even a kids' table for the six- and seven-year-olds. Though children in the shinobi world matured quickly, Kaien had still made sure to prepare a proper setup for them. Among the pile of chocolates on the table, he'd slipped in a single liquor-filled one—waiting for fate to guide the lucky eater.

Jiraiya had returned to Konoha after three years. Ever since learning what Tsunade had been through, he'd thrown himself into mission after mission, becoming something of a workhorse for the village. In just a few years, he'd completed countless S-rank assignments.

The fame of the Three Sannin largely stemmed from Jiraiya's exploits. The other two? One was busy with experiments, the other still recovering from old wounds.

Thankfully, Nawaki had never met with tragedy. He still wore the First Hokage's necklace, and his presence had helped Tsunade recover from the pain of losing both her lover and grandmother.

Of course, Kaien had also played a role in that.

The process had been... complicated. He'd gone through several awkward phases (including more than a few skincare mishaps), but eventually, he'd grown close with the last of the Sannin.

Ever since Kaien effortlessly mastered Sage Mode, Orochimaru had stopped pestering him about training at Ryūchi Cave. Instead, the Snake Sannin had involved Kaien in his experiments—though in a cooperative way—and even passed down a few of his unique techniques.

As for Hatake Sakumo, he had never been weighed down by the rumors that once plagued him in another timeline. His life was, by all accounts, peaceful.

That made Kaien wonder.

Was it simply not time yet? Or had Danzo somehow turned over a new leaf?

Then again, even if Danzo eventually strayed into darkness, he wouldn't gain much right now.

Why?

Because the Hokage faction was just too strong at the moment. If Danzo didn't play nice, they'd simply shut him out. Without their backing, he'd be left with nothing—let alone the Hokage seat.

...

Uchiha Kagami was still in his prime, and the Uchiha clan—after years of waiting—was now hungrier than ever for the position of Hokage.

Especially after Kaien, forced to reveal his Mangekyō Sharingan in self-defense against the endless pestering of young Uchiha boys and girls, had shown them just how powerful he truly was.

They'd been unbearable.

Usually, Kaien enjoyed some peace thanks to Namikaze Minato playing the role of enforcer. But whenever Minato wasn't around, the fanboys and fangirls would swarm him again.

Eventually, Kaien had enough and unleashed his power to scare them off.

The dark-blue Susanoo that rose over the Uchiha compound had stunned half the clan.

From that day forward, the Uchiha could no longer let go of their ambition for the Hokage title.

Two Mangekyō Sharingan users in their clan? That was all the justification they needed.

The next Hokage had to be one of their own.

The Mangekyō Sharingan gave them the confidence to dream big.

...

Since then, the gazes Kaien received around the Uchiha compound had been filled with admiration, reverence... and something else he chose to ignore.

Love? Infatuation? He pretended not to notice.

His life had returned to normal.

After all, with power surpassing that of a Kage, he didn't need to hide his Mangekyō anymore. The Hokage knew he had it. Telling his clan was just a way to make them prouder of their heritage.

Of course, the real reason he revealed it was because he was sick of being harassed at the Uchiha Police Department.

Seriously, what kind of normal person just shows up at someone's house to bother them?

Most of the clan didn't even have the strength or traits to approach him. Even those who got crushed by Minato's strength were considered small prodigies within the Uchiha.

...

"You're still mad about earlier, aren't you, Kaien?"

Minato slipped over again while Kushina went to look for Uchiha Mikoto.

"Mad? What are you talking about?" Kaien smiled pleasantly. "Why would I be mad?"

"But... it's been a while since our last spar, hasn't it? You've mastered some of the Nine-Tails' chakra now... Don't tell me you're scared to fight me?"

"Sparring?" Minato hesitated. "It's your birthday today... maybe another time..."

He definitely didn't want to get thrashed again.

The Mangekyō Sharingan was terrifying.

Even with the Nine-Tails' power, Minato had no idea how to beat Kaien. Not even with Nine-Tails Chakra Mode could he break through Kaien's Susanoo.

Why was that thing so durable?

Minato still hadn't figured it out.

On top of that, Kaien had developed new Mangekyō abilities that gave him constant headaches.

...

With the combination of Flying Thunder God and an ice-sealed battlefield, Kaien could move freely while his opponent was slowed. Even with all his skill and speed, Minato could only fight him to a standstill.

Anyone else? They'd probably be dead before they realized what hit them.

While Minato averted his eyes awkwardly, Kaien quietly activated [Alluring Gaze], observing him in secret.

Indra's chakra had already found its way to him.

So where was Asura's?

There might be a time gap between when each chose a host, but Asura's chakra had always waited for Indra's to appear. It couldn't be far off.

"Minato."

Kaien's voice was low.

"Huh?" Minato, lost in thought, blinked. Kaien's elegant face was suddenly far too close.

"How about I seal a dōjutsu in you?"

"A dōjutsu? Something you developed?"

"No... more of a precaution. Lately, I've felt something strange in my chakra..."

A flicker of unease appeared on Kaien's face. Minato immediately grew concerned.

Planting this little seed would help avoid future trouble, and when the time came for Kaien's chakra to act strangely, Minato might even step up to explain things on his behalf.

As for Asura's chakra? Better not let it latch onto a friend.

Once fused with someone else's will, would Minato still be... Minato?
