Chapter 28: Chapter 28
The grievous wound that nearly cost his life healed in just a week. This incredible speed of regeneration amazed all the medical ninja in the hospital, causing everyone to be amazed. As for the high-ranking officials of Konoha, they were probably thinking about something more complex, namely, the value of Kano's existence.
On the first night after being discharged, Kano received a short blade from Orochimaru.
"This…" Kano looked at the blade. The handle was black as jade, the blade was about 60 cm long, shining with a cold shine, with a play of light shimmering on the surface. Even just looking at it, one could feel the sharpness emanating from the blade. He could not forget this blade that had pierced his chest deeply – Kyuko's blade.
Looking at it, Orochimaru said, "This is your trophy."
Kano silently accepted the blade and nodded, "The blade was just what I needed."
During the battle with Kyuko, he felt the lack of a suitable weapon. This short blade was perfect for a ninja: light, sharp, easy to carry. It could be called a special ninja combat blade. Moreover, it could be infused with chakra, making it a truly deadly weapon.
For a while, both were silent, and the room was filled with silence. Finally, Orochimaru's hoarse voice rang out, "Tell me what happened that night."
Many wanted to know how Kano managed to kill Kyuko, a rather famous ninja from Kumogakure. Among them was Orochimaru, because the act itself seemed simply incredible.
If the opponent had not been so skilled in taijutsu and swordsmanship, many might have been able to accept it. But the opponent was Kyuko of Kumogakure, a master of taijutsu and swordsmanship, and also capable of covering his body with Raiton.
How could Kano, who had become a genin just over a year ago, even with outstanding results, kill such an opponent? Orochimaru was very curious about this, because he seemed to know Kano's strength.
Meeting Orochimaru's searching gaze, Kano was silent for a moment, and then his body was enveloped in a light electric glow. He extended his hand and, looking at the lightning dancing in his palm, replied, "Back then, I thought that the only thing left for us to do was die together, I truly didn't expect to survive. In the end, I only have this body to thank."
Orochimaru stared at the electrical discharges, his gaze gradually changing as if he had already guessed something. But despite this, he remained silent, waiting for the story to continue.
Kano shifted his gaze from his palm to Orochimaru's face and continued, "By changing the nature of chakra and transforming it into Raiton, one can stimulate the body, making movements faster and more precise. At first, I didn't know about this method, but after seeing how the enemy did it, I tried it and it worked. It was thanks to this that I had a chance to die along with him."
Kano did not continue because Orochimaru knew the peculiarities of his body, including the fact that his heart was on the right.
Orochimaru's face twitched slightly. He knew that Kano was a quick learner, and even his own techniques were remembered by him the first time. If Kano's eyes had not lacked the Sharingan, Orochimaru would have suspected that he was hiding it. After all, that was the only way to explain Kano's ability to see and remember the sequence of seals. But even so, he did not expect Kano's talent to be so terrifying.
The unknown is one of the greatest obstacles to human progress. It is like a thick fog through which one must grope one's way.
However, Kano acted like a scorching sun, fiercely tearing apart the fog in the face of the unknown. Having neither theoretical foundation nor practical experience, he was able to immediately reproduce the technique and use it in battle only after seeing Kyuuko use Raiton to increase her speed. Because of this, somewhere deep inside, the arrogant Orochimaru felt a pang of envy.
Kyuko didn't lose in vain... Such talent was one of the reasons for Kano's victory. Another reason was his unusual body structure. Usually, when a blade pierces the heart, a person has little time to do something, for example, strike back. But if the blade is covered in electricity, then everything changes.
However, Kyuko didn't know that Kano's heart was on the right side. And from the moment his blade pierced his enemy's chest, he was doomed. Even as he was dying, he naively believed that Kano would die with him, completely unaware that Kano's cellular activity was comparable to that of the Senju clan.
Orochimaru looked at his student carefully, and suddenly realized that he had underestimated him before: "Will you be able to go on a mission tomorrow?"
"I can," Kano answered quietly.
Orochimaru nodded, "Then rest."
Having said this, he headed towards the exit to the corridor. By this time, he decided to increase the difficulty of the tasks, because only in this way Kano would be able to develop faster.
Kano watched Sensei, dispersed his chakra, and took out a short blade, silently staring at him. At this moment, his eyes were as black as night, and it was impossible to understand what he was thinking.
