Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Imminent Revolution
"Success at last!"
In the dark dimension, Shin looked at the devil fruit in his hand, a smile spreading across his face.
"No, it's impossible! My devil fruit! My powers—how could they…" Now helpless, the large-headed Orochi stared at Shin in horror as his precious ability materialized into a Devil Fruit in Shin's grasp. "My transformation, my eight lives—no! Give me back my devil fruit!"
Hearing Orochi's desperate cries, Shin sneered and placed a hand on his head. "Human Path: Soul Extraction," he murmured.
Though Orochi was clinging to despair, Shin saw an opportunity. As the former ruler of Wano, Orochi likely had knowledge of secret vaults and other resources Shin could exploit. He wouldn't let such information slip by.
A moment later, the defeated Orochi's eyes rolled back, and he slumped to the ground, lifeless. Looking at the corpse with disgust, Shin expelled it from his dark dimension, a trace of irritation on his face. Still, the thought of his accomplishments renewed his smile. "With the Munch-Munch Fruit and the Dark-Dark Fruit combined, I can even extract devil fruits from living users!"
The significance of this experiment was immense. Although it might not directly affect battle tactics, it opened the door to unimaginable flexibility. It meant Shin could switch out his third Devil Fruit at will or even remove one from himself if necessary. The possibility of exchanging Devil Fruits between people was now within his reach, offering unique opportunities. Undoubtedly, once Shin spreads this information publicly, many pirates and even the world government will want his head.
Shin's mood soared as he exited the dark dimension. After nearly a month of effort and exhausting the lives of both Semimaru and Orochi, he had achieved success and now possessed two additional, powerful devil fruits.
Of particular interest was the Yamato-no-Orochi Fruit. Shin wasted no time consuming it, reasoning that it would be invaluable in his upcoming confrontation with the Beast Pirates. Although he planned to avoid using his ninjutsu to sharpen his skills with haki, he couldn't shake the lingering worry: 'If I end up truly in danger, and Kaido somehow manages to prevent me from unsealing my powers, would I still be able to survive?'
With the Yamata-no-Orochi fruit's ability bolstering his resilience, he felt more confident. He reasoned that even if he couldn't overpower Kaido in haki, the fruit would give him eight lives, which meant he could withstand Kaido's attacks multiple times. With this kind of durability, Shin was ready to test his mettle.
In recent weeks, Wano Country has undergone many changes. The Kozuki clan's remnants and numerous warriors had begun to recover from their oppressive conditions, returning to a semblance of their former selves. However, the Beast Pirates had grown suspicious of Wano's shifting atmosphere. The subtle interference by Shin's clone, who had posed as one of Orochi's advisors, had delayed Kaido's forces from noticing the changes, but it was clear that their limits had reached a breaking point.
"Then, it's time to drive the Beast Pirates out of Wano," Shin declared after receiving an update from his clone in Orochi's form.
"Excellent! I've been ready for this!" Yamato, filled with energy and determination, leaped into the fray. By now, the warriors of Wano knew Yamato's identity and greeted her with respect and curiosity. But, given the nature of the pirate world—where betrayals for ideals weren't uncommon—the warriors quickly refocused on the task at hand.
"Wait," Shin said, "since I've already been using the identity of Kurozumi Orochi, I might as well keep it up. I'll lead his army into battle as a first strike."
Denjiro raised an eyebrow. "Will the soldiers under Orochi even have the courage to face the Beast Pirates?"
Shin's expression turned cold. "I'll take care of that. I'll place a genjutsu on the officers and prepare some stimulant medicines for the troops to boost their morale."
In the ninja world, strong medicines that could amplify courage existed, much like enhanced adrenaline or battle stimulants. Shin was confident that these would turn Orochi's men into formidable fighters, even if only temporarily. These stimulants would make them fearless, aggressive, and three times as effective as before.
This approach would have little effect in the other world, where strategic thinking often trumped raw courage. But such potent stimulants would be invaluable in this world dominated by reckless combat. Since the soldiers under Orochi were known for their corrupt nature, Shin felt no guilt using them as cannon fodder.
"Let's do it, then!" shouted Ashura Doji, his powerful voice cutting through the air.
Ashura Doji had long been obsessed with the twenty-year prophecy. Without the death of Orochi, he might never have joined the cause. But once he committed, he became one of the most fervent participants, abandoning any previous hesitation.
No one objected to Shin's plan; years of hardship had transformed even those who once clung to strict ideals into pragmatists willing to embrace practical solutions.
"Alright, we'll start with Queen. He's currently in the Flower Capital, blissfully unaware of what's to come," Shin announced.
The plan went into motion swiftly. Unaware of the rebellion brewing in Wano, Queen indulged in the Flower Capital festivities, listening to the performances of a famous singer. Though his subordinates had warned him of unusual activities in Wano, Queen, like many others, had underestimated the situation. He believed that Orochi was merely fortifying defenses in anticipation of the Beast Pirates rather than orchestrating an all-out rebellion.
Unbeknownst to him, the entire land of Wano had finally reached the turning point of revolution.
