Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Hot Spring Village Ninja Arrive
That power was far, far stronger than Minato himself, yet it seemed suppressed by something. Not only could it not harm Minato's body, but it also seeped out through a non-physical medium, continuously healing his wounds.
Under the influence of this force, Minato's chakra was gradually growing in strength—both in quality and quantity.
At that moment inside Minato's body, faint, almost imperceptible sounds echoed. It roared in defiant frustration, yet appeared severely damaged, unable to leak even the slightest trace of its presence.
...
Minato slowly opened his eyes, his eyelids feeling somewhat heavy. The first thing he saw was a ceiling with brown markings.
Then came a voice filled with pleasant surprise from beside him. "You actually woke up so quickly."
Junko Watanabe's face instantly came into view. Her current expression was unlike any Minato had seen since they met.
But perhaps this was simply how a normal person would look.
"So quickly?" Another surprised voice sounded. Sakumo appeared next, followed shortly by Yan Uchiha seconds later.
Being stared at so intensely by all three made Minato feel suddenly uneasy, though he didn't know where to hide.
Shifting his focus inward, a sharp pain shot through his left side.
"Ouch... it really hurts."
Gasping from the pain, Minato finally remembered—he had blocked a sword strike for Junko yesterday, injuring his left arm. However, during the fight with that Cloud Ninja until the end, the arm had already gone mostly numb. Now the intense pain had returned, causing him to grimace uncontrollably.
"That's really weird..."
After the initial joy, Sakumo frowned. Logically speaking, Minato shouldn't have recovered this fast, and even the sensation of pain felt abnormal.
He had lost a lot of blood from his left arm, which should've left the nerves temporarily numb. By his experience, restoring sensation wouldn't happen overnight.
Yet Junko gave him a light glare, and Sakumo realized his slip of tongue.
Regardless, Minato's rapid recovery was still good news.
Junko shifted her gaze and activated her sensory abilities. She was also experienced enough to share Sakumo's concern.
What she now worried about was whether there were other issues with Minato's condition.
After scanning him thoroughly, her expression subtly changed.
"What happened? Is anything wrong with Minato's body?" Sakumo noticed her expression change immediately and asked hurriedly. Yan Uchiha looked over with evident concern as well.
Junko shook her head and looked directly at Minato. "It's not just that his injuries are recovering fast—his chakra has also mostly replenished itself. All of it is naturally converging toward the damaged areas, repairing his injuries."
"Yesterday Minato lost so much blood that his chakra should have been extremely weak according to common sense, yet his condition turned out to be the exact opposite.
Chakra is composed of both physical and spiritual energy. Physical energy originates from the 130 trillion cells inside the human body.
Conversely, chakra can also help the body recover quickly. After all, in the final analysis, various forms of energy constitute the human body itself."
"If this pace continues, he might regain mobility within just one day," Junko Watanabe said. The chakra inside Minato's body had almost fully recovered already. Once it stabilized the injuries, Minato would regain full mobility.
As for the wounds on his arm, since flesh regrowth was required, they would probably need about one to two weeks or even longer to heal—after all, that Sword Strike had cut far too deep.
"This constitution is just..."
Sakumo couldn't help but marvel internally. People like that weren't unheard of—the Senju clan, once the strongest in Konoha, naturally had extraordinary constitutions. Their healing powers blew regular folks out of the water.
However, Sakumo had seen Minato's records—his parents came from commoner stock. It was difficult to imagine how Minato could possess such an exceptional constitution.
Yet if Junko Watanabe had sensed it personally, then there mustn't be any abnormalities inside Minato. This truly was just Minato's inherent healing ability.
A powerful constitution and unmatched talent—the boy was basically made for this life.
Lying on his back, Minato suddenly remembered something. His right arm began fumbling under the bedding before finally revealing a relieved smile across his face.
He pulled out his hand, revealing a yellow hairpin resting in his palm, its tip touched with a hint of red.
This was the gift he had prepared earlier for Kushina. Fortunately during last night's fierce battle, he hadn't lost it after all.
"Getting all flustered over some stupid hairpin like that—why don't you worry more about your own damn injuries instead?" Yan Uchiha remarked upon seeing this, his words carrying mockery but concealing concern beneath them.
Minato smiled gently as he replied, "Thank you for your concern."
"Hmph." When Yan Uchiha heard those words, he turned his head away while crossing his arms, saying, "Concern? I merely won't allow you to die before being defeated by me."
Minato chuckled again—it was precisely Yan Uchiha's personality. Although somewhat aloof, he indeed harbored kindness deep inside.
Junko Watanabe stood there uncomfortably, but she still spoke towards Minato: "Thanks... for yesterday."
It was obvious she wasn't used to saying things like that—her voice came out awkward and hesitant. As soon as those words came out, the other three people in the room were momentarily stunned.
"I merely did what I was supposed to do—protecting comrades has always been my responsibility," Minato responded with a smile.
Junko's pupils slightly constricted—"Comrades"—this word felt extremely unfamiliar to her. Yet when hearing him speak it so sincerely, a warmth spread through her chest.
What kind of feeling was this again? How many years had it been since last experiencing something like this?
Minato turned his head toward Sakumo and asked, "Where's Tachiyama Shinsaburo? Did he die?"
"He's dead. I cut his head off. But whether he's really dead or not, I can't say for sure," Sakumo said.
Minato nodded. Last night, Junko Watanabe had stabbed him all over the body, targeting every vital spot, yet Sakumo somehow remained alive.
Even without further elaboration from Sakumo, Minato understood that under those circumstances, it was impossible to confirm whether the target was truly dead.
After all, none of them had ever faced an opponent like this—one they couldn't even be sure was dead.
"So, does this mean our mission is accomplished?" Minato asked.
"Not sure," Sakumo shook his head. Then he glanced toward the window and added, "But I think someone will soon give us the answer."
Following his gaze, Junko furrowed her brow. Beside her, Yan Uchiha immediately became alert as well.
"Someone's coming."
Just then, the balcony door swung open, and three figures stepped inside. They wore forehead protectors and were dressed as ninjas.
However, their uniforms belonged neither to Konoha nor to the Cloud Ninja.
The insignia on their forehead protectors was... three diagonal slash marks.
Upon seeing them, Sakumo gave a slight smile and said, "You must be ninja from the Hidden Hot Spring Village..."
