My Hero Academia: Yoshikage Kira's Bizarre Adventure

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: The Badly Injured Midoriya

Chapter 12: The Badly Injured Midoriya

After the exam ended, Present Mic stopped Yoshikage Kira and asked for his help with the injured students.

Since his Quirk registration stated that Hamon was proficient in healing, Yoshikage wasn't surprised. He was living alone and his finances were tight. Present Mic had specifically mentioned there would be compensation for his help, so he had no reason to refuse.

Although he could have made money through less savory, underground means, he didn't want to attract the attention of the police. As a minor, he was limited to part-time jobs, so he was quite satisfied with a legitimate source of income. After all, he had some rather large expenses in certain areas.

And so, Yoshikage helped out in the infirmary, treating those with minor injuries. Small cuts and scrapes healed almost instantly after being treated with Hamon, and it also helped alleviate more severe injuries.

When most of the injured had been treated, Yoshikage pulled back the curtain to the intensive care room and was suddenly startled—Izuku Midoriya's body was as mangled as Deadpool's. Aside from one arm that was relatively intact, his other limbs were severely fractured. Although Recovery Girl had already used her Quirk to heal him, he was still unconscious.

"Recovery Girl... what on earth did he do to get injured this badly?" Yoshikage couldn't help but ask the person standing by the bed.

The hero known as "Recovery Girl" was U.A. High's school nurse, a kind and amiable old woman. She looked gravely at Midoriya's injuries and, after a moment of silence, said, "This little one used a power he can't control. He blew up the zero-point robot."

While he was treating them, some of the other students had excitedly told Yoshikage that someone had defeated the robot, but he never expected that person to be right in front of him now.

It's a good thing I didn't try to take it on head-on, or I might have ended up in an even worse state than him...

Recovery Girl suddenly said to Yoshikage, "I've looked at your file. Your Quirk is very useful for healing. Are you interested in transferring to the Support Course and becoming a rescue medic in the future? I can personally teach you."

What is this old lady suddenly talking about?

Yoshikage had no desire to become a dedicated healing hero. He politely declined. "I want to get into the Hero Course. I'm not interested in the Support Course."

"Is that so..." Perhaps Recovery Girl was just asking casually. She picked up a medical chart and walked out. "Becoming a professional support hero is a good choice too. Kids these days, they don't cherish themselves at all..."

Yoshikage looked at the sleeping Midoriya. His breathing was gradually becoming steady; he should be waking up soon.

What could possibly be worth such a great sacrifice?

Yoshikage didn't understand.

U.A. Monitoring Room.

Nearly all of U.A.'s active teachers were present, seated on either side of a long table. The principal, hidden in shadow, sat at the head of the table, his hands clasped under his chin, watching the surveillance video with the other teachers.

On the screen, the spiky-haired blond boy had somehow gathered a pile of robots and was taking them out one by one with continuous explosions from his palms, completely at ease.

The screen froze on his wild grin. An older teacher stood up first and commented, "Katsuki Bakugo. His ability isn't top-tier, but his development of it is strong. He's bold yet meticulous, with excellent combat skills. You could say he was the best performer in the entire exam."

"I don't think so," a younger teacher suddenly countered. "Bakugo may be strong, but he made no effort to rescue anyone. He even used others' predicaments as a distraction to take down faux villains. Can someone who completely disregards the safety of others be called the best?"

"That's a fair point..." The older teacher sat back down and turned his gaze to All Might. "Power alone does not make one truly strong, nor does it make one the strongest."

A female teacher propped her head on her hand and said with a seductive smile, "Gentlemen, I'm more interested in the two students who defeated the strongest, zero-point faux villain."

"One has a powerful Quirk, but its drawback is a massive side effect. The other is skilled at seizing opportunities, only making a move when he's confident..." a man who looked severely sleep-deprived said, his head bowed as if he could fall asleep at any moment. "The reason they both confronted the faux villain was to save someone, right?"

"Hee hee." Present Mic laughed exaggeratedly, leaning his head close to the man. "What's wrong, Eraser Head? Do they strike your fancy? Perhaps you'll be their homeroom teacher?"

Eraser Head silently pushed his head away and glanced at All Might. "It's nothing. I just thought that Midoriya's Quirk looked a bit familiar."

"Hahaha!" All Might drew everyone's attention with his laughter. "We are here to select the most promising hero candidates! Regardless of how they performed in this competition, they all demonstrated their character and sacrificed for others. That is enough!"

"That's right. As long as their scores are high enough, any student has the potential to become a hero."

The teachers began to discuss amongst themselves.

All Might secretly wiped away a bead of sweat. That was too close. Seeing Eraser Head look at him again, he quickly put on a smile.

And so, after a thorough discussion, it was decided: Katsuki Bakugo would receive 0 rescue points, and Izuku Midoriya would receive 60 rescue points.

Yoshikage left before Midoriya woke up. He went to the supermarket to buy ingredients for dinner and was now on his way home.

I can't believe a student actually managed to defeat that giant robot head-on... And it was that meek, green-haired boy, Izuku Midoriya.

You really can't judge a book by its cover. To have such a powerful Quirk and still be threatened by a delinquent at the school gate... I wonder if that guy even realizes he would have been sent flying with one punch from Midoriya.

Yoshikage's home was in a normal residential district. His adoptive parents had passed away long ago, leaving him to live there alone. As such, all the decorations in the house were his own.

"I'm home."

Even though he knew no one was there, it was a habit he couldn't break. He sighed softly and closed the door.

"Welcome back."

The previously dark hallway suddenly lit up, and Inasa Yoarashi's grinning face peeked around the corner.

"Ugh." Yoshikage sighed again. To be honest, he'd rather have no one answer him than have it be Inasa.

"How do you have a key to my house?" Yoshikage changed his shoes at the entrance and walked into the inner room. "If you can't give me a good explanation, you'll be spending the night at the police station."

"It wasn't me!" Inasa quickly waved his hands, knowing Yoshikage meant what he said. He threw the blame onto the other person in the room. "It was Camie! She said she wanted to give you a surprise and forced the door open."

Feeling that wasn't enough to absolve himself, he continued, "I tried to stop her at first. I just wanted to wait for you at the door, but Camie said that wouldn't show our sincerity, and she wanted you to have dinner ready when you got home, so..."

Yoshikage ignored his excuses and sat down directly across from Camie Utsushimi. "I don't care how you got in," he said coldly. "I just want to know what you're doing here."

To be honest, Yoshikage had a headache when it came to her. He had no idea how to deal with her, and the authenticity of her claim to be his fan was still very much in question.
