My Hero Academia: Nightmare Mode

Chapter 36: Uncharted Territory

The morning sunlight streamed softly through the thin curtains of Kikidori's dorm room. The faint sound of birds chirping outside contrasted the warmth and quiet inside. Kikidori stirred slightly in bed, his mind still foggy from sleep. The events of the night before played faintly in his memory, but he pushed them aside, trying to will himself back to sleep.

But the moment was short-lived.

A familiar weight shifted beside him, and he opened his eyes to see Toga propped up on her elbow, looking down at him with a mischievous smile. Her golden eyes glimmered with something that made Kikidori's heart skip a beat—not fear, not annoyance, but something confusingly pleasant.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," Toga said, her voice soft but playful.

Kikidori blinked, still piecing together how she always managed to wake up before him. "Morning..."

Toga leaned down, pressing a quick, soft kiss to his lips. It was a familiar gesture, one he had begrudgingly grown accustomed to, but before he could process it fully, she leaned in again, this time lingering longer.

Kikidori kissed back, albeit reluctantly at first. His mind was still waking up, still trying to figure out the boundaries of whatever this... relationship had become.

But Toga wasn't done.

The playful mischief in her eyes shifted as she deepened the kiss, parting her lips slightly. Kikidori froze for a split second as he felt the unexpected—her tongue lightly brushing against his. It wasn't anything he'd experienced before, not from her, not from anyone.

It was... different.

His hands instinctively moved to her shoulders, hesitating between pulling her closer and pushing her away. His mind raced as he tried to make sense of the situation. This wasn't the usual playful Toga he had grown used to. There was an intensity in her kiss, a vulnerability hidden behind the boldness that left him... confused.

When she finally pulled back, her face was flushed, and for once, she looked almost shy. Almost.

"Why... why did you do that?" Kikidori asked, his voice quieter than he intended.

Toga tilted her head, her playful demeanor returning just as quickly as it had vanished. "What? You didn't like it?"

"It's not about that," Kikidori said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "You've never... done that before. What's gotten into you?"

Toga's smile softened as she rested her hand on his chest, tracing small circles with her finger. "I just... wanted to. I felt like it. You didn't stop me, so I guess you didn't mind."

Kikidori sighed, his gaze shifting to the ceiling. He didn't know how to respond to that. There were no rules for this—whatever "this" was between them.

Toga leaned down again, planting a quick kiss on his cheek before hopping off the bed. "You're thinking too much again, Kiki. Relax. I'll see you later, okay?"

And just like that, she was at the window, slipping out as effortlessly as she had entered the night before.

Kikidori stared after her, his mind a whirlwind of confusion and emotions he couldn't quite name. He ran a hand through his hair, letting out a long sigh.

"Toga," he muttered to himself. "You're going to be the death of me."
