My Hero Academia: Nightmare Mode

Chapter 28: Summer Love

The summer sun hung high in the sky, casting golden light over the UA campus. While most of Class 1-A packed their bags and headed home for the break, Kikidori remained behind. He had no home to return to—not since that horrible day in middle school when a villain took his parents away.

The halls of UA were eerily quiet, the usual bustling energy gone. Kikidori found himself alone in the Bakusquad dorm, surrounded by the echoes of laughter and conversations that no longer filled the space. Kaminari's jokes, Mina's endless chatter, Kirishima's positivity—all of it was absent.

But Kikidori wasn't fazed. He was used to solitude.

Every morning, he woke up to an empty dorm, made himself a simple breakfast, and spent the day training or wandering the empty campus. At night, he sat in silence, the glow of the city lights outside his window his only company. This was normal for him. Everyone was right when they said he was used to being alone.

That was, until Toga decided to change things.

One evening, as Kikidori was staring blankly at the ceiling of his room, he heard a soft knock at the window. He stood up, confused, and pulled back the curtain. There she was—Toga, grinning at him from the other side of the glass.

Without waiting for an invitation, she slid the window open and climbed in. "Miss me?" she teased, her golden eyes glinting mischievously.

"Toga," Kikidori sighed. "What are you doing here? You can't just break into my dorm."

"Sure I can," she said, plopping down on his bed like she owned the place. "You're all alone, Kiki. Someone has to keep you company."

Before he could argue, she continued, "I'm staying with you for the summer. No arguing. You don't have a choice."

At first, Kikidori resisted. Having Toga around felt... chaotic. She was a villain, after all, and her presence could get him into serious trouble. But Toga didn't care about the rules, and soon enough, neither did Kikidori.

She was everywhere—popping up behind him during training, stealing bites of his food during meals, and teasing him endlessly. She had no boundaries, constantly hugging him, sitting on his lap, and playfully straddling him just to get a rise out of him.

"Don't you ever stop?" Kikidori grumbled one day as she wrapped her arms around his neck from behind.

"Nope," she said, her voice light and happy. "I love you, Kiki."

At first, he brushed her off, muttering something under his breath or ignoring her entirely. But as the days turned into weeks, something began to change.

He caught himself hugging her back when she hugged him. He found himself smiling softly when she laughed, her joy infectious. And when she said "I love you," he no longer hesitated to say it back.

One evening, as they sat on the dorm's couch watching a movie, Toga leaned against him, her head resting on his shoulder. "You're not pushing me away anymore," she said softly, her voice free of its usual teasing tone.

Kikidori glanced down at her, his green and blue eyes meeting her golden ones. "I guess I've gotten used to you being around," he admitted.

Toga smiled, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Good. Because I'm not going anywhere."

For the first time in years, Kikidori didn't feel alone.
